As the title suggests how can you uninstall/reinstall awesome mod?

You delete it and redownload it back?

Remove it/Put it back in.
Simple as that.

When using the helper monkey program to install the mod, where does it save it?

Program files or my documents?

Umm...Program files.

Just installed the mod to the following directory,

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

Once i booted up the game, it crashes on the loading screen, as soon as i take it off it is fine again...

Am i installing it in the right place?

This has already been discussed numerous times in other threads. I would suggest using the Search function at the top of the main page to find the information you're looking for. That is all the help I will give you.

I'll give you another clue.  In the thread from where you downloaded awesomemod there is a HUGE image about crashes with some very useful information under it.  Even I, blind as a bat, found it.  :-\

I need desperate help with installing this mod, I have tried everything but it seems that everytime it wont work. I also cant install the Monkey Helper Tool from MTS2 so could someone please give me a step by step on how to install this mod because I have no idea what I am doing wrong!

P.S. I have no previously installed mods just the recent patch from TS3

Did you check the faqs or use the search... A brain slightly more functioning than a vegetable should be able to install this without much difficulty if they follow faqs and installation instructions.

Yes I have visited alot of FAQs I just cant find what is going wrong when I want to install this. Also, I am asking for help not criticism so if thats what you want to do you can leave.

I don't honestly see how it is possible to not be able to do the manual install. It is a basic operation of finding install folder and unzipping files to right directories.

I dont know what I am doing wrong either! I have the Mods folder contained in TS3 folder and in the Mods folder there is a file and package folder, in the package folder there is the awesomemod.package! Can the mod work with the TS3 patch that just came out?

What TS3 folder? The one in MyDocuments, or the one in Program Files?
Because if it's the one in MyDocuments, I suggest you to run away as fast as you can, because you clearly didn't read anything, let alone the FAQs and the RTFM, and I'll bite your head off ASAP.

Why not use the framework instead? Despite Pescado's warning about it being for advanced users, it is very much not. I find it much easier and less wasteful than downloading an additional program you'll use once. Download. Unzip. Throw in the correct folder. Protip: the correct folder is clearly outlined in the thread where you get the mod. For reals.

If you had actually read the instructions, you would not have this problem. Why? Because my 91-year-old insane grandmother could follow these, and she's still amazed that you can email someone in Zimbabwe.

My mom went home with X-ray results on a CD instead of the good old X-ray plates. She put the CD in her stereo and then complained because there wasn't any sound coming out.

Can anyone help me by telling me where the files are supposed to go, I have been changing the files in My Documents. That should be my only problem  :-\

Awesome Mod for Dummies:

Go back to where you downloaded the mod from.  Pescado tells you exactly where to stick the mod.  You NEED to do that installer monkey before you can place the Mod. (If you were more computer savvy I would say you can do the framework manually, but you aren't showing that.)

The installer monkey creates the additional folders and a resource file (which tells your game how to read mods) in the directory for you, so all you have to do is unzip the Awesome and plop it where Pescado tells you to.  And depending on if you have a Mac or XP or Vista, where your installed Sims 3 may differ a little...that is why Pescado went right for the important Folder...TS3(the Sims 3).  Go find that!

I think this is a lesson you need to figure on your own, since it is dangerous to go poking around your computer not knowing where exactly you need to be.

It's not hard...really it is very easy.

Program Files is on your 'C' drive.

If you've got the TS3 Installer Monkey you shouldn't need to go into the sims 3 files.  Once the Monkey is installed, you're meant to unzip/extract awesomemod to your desktop then right click on it and it should have an option to "install to sims 3" click on that (I beleive this information is in the thread that the download is attached to).

If, on the other hand, you're having problems with the Monkey itself, you should ask the person who made it over at Mod the Sims.

Yes thats the correct place to install.  The loading screen crash is something thats mentioned in the thread where the download is.

At the risk of getting flamed as much as the last guy, I'm also having major problems. I installed awesomemod a couple weeks ago, no problems, game working so I'm not a complete idiot (guess that will be denied in a bit). After getting the expiration message i've tried to do the same as last time although not redownloaded the monkey helper and i just cannot get it to work. Tried just deleting the awesomemod file and then replacing it by using drag and drop into the same place, game does the hang on loading thing, reloaded a few times and when it eventually loaded it still had the expiration message and kicked me back to Windows. Tried as suggested just booting up with no awesomemod and then putting it back on and it booted without awesomemod but when tried to put it on again, same problem.

So deleted everything (and this is where maybe i have more of a problem, knowing exactly WHAT to delete). Used the uninstall for the monkey helper, deleted the awesomemod.package file and the script file in 'my documents'. Reloaded monkey helper, redownloaded awesomemod and when i double click on awesomemod it tells me access is denied. For further info i am the admin on windows so shouldn't be anything to do with my access settings (or should it) and I didn't have his problem with the first install. I have read everything i can find on the forums but it really isn't helping me, i've just spent the last two hours trying to do this myself and would just appreciate a bit of advice or help rather than a 'you're a thick shit' comment.

Have you tried deleting all of the assorted cache files in the mydoc/EA/ts3 folder? Part of the crash syndrome checklist recommends: 2. Deleting all of the *cache.package files out of your Sims3 user directory.

It also mentions prayer rattles and pious chanting, or something like that. Personally, I offered my computer a snackrifice and everything turned out ok...

That is where i had the difficulty in identifying which ones so i have now deleted all files with 'cache' in the title (although only files in ts3 directory rather than any other contained within other folders in there) along with the scriptcache which i already had deleted and I don't want to jinx myself but it has loaded and i've switched households a few times to check i'm not losing inventory and all seems good now. Strange how i'm now getting the loading problems with this version though which i never had before with the previous version but I will try the suggestions on the download page and see if that can be improved. Thanks for the non flamey response ;)

Terrie, have you tried installing the enablescripterror.package? That might help you out. Also, if you're getting crashes at the loading screen, you might try the threebooter.  The enablescripterror.package has been sufficient for me.

You know, the thing on your desk?  The thing with fans and buttons that has a keyboard attached, and hopefully a little TV-like thing that shows pretty pictures?  That's your computer.  If you press one of the shiny buttons, it might even turn on.  This is called "booting",  which is, incidentally, what you're going to get if you don't be less stupid.

When it finishes starting up, your TVthingy will have what we generally call a "desktop" showing.  This is Windows, and is an operating system.  Your computer also has a hard drive, where it can store things.  On this drive there are many little folder things.  If you can find a program called "Windows Explorer", it will even show you what they are with cute little pictures that look like folders.

Your hard drive has a letter, probably C.  Click on this.  It will show that there are a bunch of little "folders" on the drive, one of which will likely be "Program Files".

You will note that Windows Explorer has a Search button.  I specifically did not mention this earlier because it is apparent that you have no nascient search skills, and even less ability to acquire them now that Marhis has eaten your head.  If you could use it however, you would find that it would find your Program Files folder quite quickly.

OK, so time for another reinstall as it's out of date again.....but guess what, did exactly what i did last time to get the bogging thing to work and can't again. Deleted all cache files, deleted awesomemod, downloaded awesomemod, put it back in folder.....still got the 'expired' message and kicked out. Tried without awesomemod, loads fine, tried again with awesomemod, same expired message. WTF am I doing wrong, i've done the same as last time?

I'm not too bothered about the crashing screen to be honest so i just live with it...have done a search on 'enablescripterror.package' but can't find anything on here.....where can I find it please. Cheers in advance.

1) Delete all copies of awesome mod on your computer.  Those you downloaded, those in the packages directory..  all of em.
2) Delete all copies of your awesome config file (assuming you use one).  If you don't use one - why the hell not?!
2) Re-download and re-extract the AwesomeMod package.  Verify when you copy to Packages directory you don't get an overwrite message.
3) Clear your cache files (all four of them).
4) Go back into your Packages directory, make sure none of the cache files copied themselves into there (I've seen it happen quite a bit on my machine).  If they are there, delete them.
5) If you want for good measure, delete the contents of the WorldCaches directory (if there are any).
6) Look at the contents of your Packages directory in detail - verify you don't have another copy of the awesome mod with a variation on the name.
7) Use the online AwesomeMod tool to re-do your config.
8) Copy the new config file to your Packages directory.  Verify when you copy that you don't get an overwrite message.

If all else fails after this, shut down your computer, go get lunch (or a quickie - I prefer the quickie), and come back later to try again.

I cant find awesome mod in my computer to delete it, most likely because I am a grandma and am suffering from dementia however if someone could maybe have a more specific path to  where it would be I would think you were wonderful ( I did try looking in program files) thank you,

• Main Sims 3 directory:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin   (if you use XP, remove the (x86) part)
  
• Sims 3 Packages directory:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
• Sims 3 data directory:  (My Documents Folder)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Cache files are any file in the data directory with "cache" in the name.  Same goes for packages directory (if you find any files with "cache" in the name, either delete them or move them elsewhere).  Packages directory holds all the mods you've installed for Sims 3.

Although i have somehow managed to get it working now (and i really have no idea how) I want to thank you for this cos i'm going to follow these directions to the letter the next time i have to reinstall it (which no doubt will be another few days)....oh and btw, my husband sailed this afternoon with the Navy and therefore no chance of a quickie for a few months but have opted for a bottle of wine instead of lunch! ;)

Hi, I have installed awesomemode and I loved it. But after updated my game with the actual patch from EA yesterday my Sims game does not work fine anymore. Means, if I am telling my Sim to go to bed and he is not in the same room like the bed he just forget it. I have first send him to the sleeping room and then he can go to bed. Further they are only eating in the kitchen. Standing around. They do not use tables and chairs anymore. And cars and taxis are driving on my lot. So I tried to delete aweseomemode. But without the game does not start. Do you have any ideas how I can delete awesomemode until it is compatible with the patch? Thanks and kind regards, Baika ???

BTW - no "e" on the end of AwesomeMod - although, by installing AwesomeMod, TS3 runs in AwesomeMode.

I have deleted the Cache files (in my Documents or how it is called in english) and the awesomemod (on my F disk drive under Mods/Packages) But the game does still not start without awesomemod. But with it's hard to play Sims as they don't do what they have got tolded. If I reinstall awesomemod games is starting. But Sims don't do what I tell them (and cars on the lot, Sims got freezen etc). Any ideas what I made wrong?

At what point does the game fail?  Does it crash during startup, or not load your saved game, or what?

Do you have Supreme Commander enabled?  The AwesomeMod page indicates that if you play a neighborhood with SC, it may not work if you remove the mod.

Do you have the CD in the CD drive?

Awesomemod disables the CD check so if you with it you don't need the CD to play.... but if you delete Awesomemod you'll need the CD in the drive to play.

If that isn't your problem... then I have no other tips for you.  But I'd imagine the mod will be updated within a day or so anyway... so waiting shouldn't be that bad.

Supreme Commander is only activated when you ctrl-click on a sim and then select "Supreme Commander"  As far as I know this won't affect the games ability to load without awesomemod... It might fuck up a saved game if you had activated it in that game and try to run it without the mod installed.

I really don't know why it isn't loading for you.  If nobody can help you and you can't figure it out... then you basically have 2 options: #1 wait a day for awesomemod to be updated.  #2 Uninstall the game and then reinstall it.

I'd go with option #1 personally.

I have followed all the steps (I hope), deleted all the .cache files, removed all my mods...There are only three .package files now in the Mods/Packages folder (all other mods have been deleted from my computer), the latest AM, ISM, and AM Config .package files. The older versions have been removed along w/all my other mods...

So why do I keep getting this?

Notice I have nothing Sims-related running here, just the error message from TS3 Helper Monkey, and the EA DL Manager, which I'm not even connected to atm. The same thing happened to me a few days ago, when I had just AM and the Config.

[FYI: I am running off of Windows XP, playing the game on an external drive--E:\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 {Mods/Packages and dl'd Resource file are stored on same drive, in the root folder}, and my Sims game is updated to 1.2.7 {1.3 patch wouldn't install, which I guess is just as well, considering all the bugs it's supposedly infested with}.]

Your anti virus is blocking the unlocker from doing anything. This is a duh question but have you tried restarting your pc then messing with the package files normally? That always helps me when windows gets stuck thinking something is using a file.

Even after deactivating the Tamper Protection, I still get the same thing, minus the Symantec alert.


Yes, I've restarted more than once. No effect.

In any case, I may need to uninstall and reinstall my game at this time, as something borked my game and caused the visuals to get all screwy.

okay, so call me crazy, but i want to play without the awesomemod. i do not want to reinstall it. unfortunately if i delete the awesomemod my game won't start. it crashes before the loading screen even shows up. i've even tried reinstalling my game numerous times and deleting the caches, but nothing works. it's either i play with the awesomemod and cc (which i must have) or nothing at all, only base game junk, which i hate. i've searched through the forums and still haven't found my answer. i'm getting so frustrated. it's been like this for a month now  :'(

i'm am really sorry if this has been discussed and i missed it. but please help me.  please  :(

@ piratesforlunch: Did you have Supreme Commander enabled for any sims in your saved game?If so,this may be the reason that you cannot play it without Awesomemod.Try starting a new neighbourhood and see if that works.

EDIT:Sorry,just re-read your post.If reinstalling the game didn't work,I don't know what would.

I've never enabled it, but this time before I started up my game I removed the awesomemod and the .dll file (I had never removed the .dll file before) and at least I got the loading screen. It froze though. Is that some improvement? I'm definitely not a computer person.  ???

Well,a frozen game isn't much of an improvement,I'm afraid.As far as I know,all that is required to remove Awesomemod is to simply take the 'awesome.package'file out of your Mods folder.This has always worked for me in the past,I've never deleted a cache file or any other type of file.

One thing that may help some of you people having problems: Disable your user account control. Go to control panel, user accounts and disable it there. This is if you run Windows Vista...not sure if it's the same for the other OS's.

Some Observations I have made in regards to this thread (observations based on my own perceptions and estimations, not necessarily factual. Not complaining...please know that I regard you all with my utmost affection and admiration.)(Yes, I have been drinking...um, I mean...) (Okay, my pathetic attempt at humor and wit...feel free to insult, tease, bully, and otherwise demean me...nothing you can say will be worse than my own reaction when I read this tomorrow...lol)

1. If you insult yourself in the process of asking a stupid question you are less likely to be mocked

2. Most of the people who "help" answer questions in this forum are likely "tech geeks" and spend most of their work day answering stupid questions and required to be polite and diplomatic in order to keep their jobs, so therefore find a way to vent their frustrations by voluntarily answering stupid questions here and saying what they wish they could say at work

3. Sometimes, at least in my experience, using the windows search function doesn't always (or even usually) give you all the results you are looking for. I have often searched things, deleted everything that turned up in the search, and then found more instances of that particular program manually.

4. Windows Vista SUCKS. If your comp can handle it, get Windows 7. Haven't tried it yet personally, but honestly, how much worse can it be? If all else fails, get XP. At least that one functioned somewhat.

5. People are ignorant...sometimes stupid, but most often ignorant...get used to it, it's everywhere! lol. The best in my experience is when someone goes up to a drive thru speaker (I used to work in fast food...you'd be surprised how often this would happen...at least once a day) wait until you ask to take their order and say "are you open?".....

I find it very funny that the previous poster had the time to chastisize tech helpers in this thread claiming that they aren't helpful enough, all the while not contributing anything of value to the posters questions. Yes, people are mean here, your observations have been stated by numerous others and yes, you will probably feel ashamed in the morning. If you have any information of value tomorrow that might shed some light on the issue, please return then. Until the sun rises you better keep hugging that vodka bottle and hope for the hazy alcoholic bliss to lull you to sleep. And for the rest of the posters in here, please utilize CAPS LOCK and capitalize your letters. It is far easier on the eyes when skimming through posts.

On topic: the four cache files that you can delete will spawn again once you start the game anew. I have no idéa as to what is causing the red blur in the game, but I gather it is not a good thing. Maybe someone else has thoughts about what is going on in your game, graywolf.

piratesforlunch: have you checked that you have deleted the framework when taking out awesomemod? And just so you know, there are other core mods out there, so if you wish to keep your cc, you'll just have to do a search on google. Also, if you are going to pick files and taking them out willynilly, you better make some backups for them in a folder somewhere, preferrably on the desktop. Otherwise you could end up with a totally fubarred game and no way of putting the pieces back together.

Are you deleting all saved games and custom content when you uninstall? Because you should be.

I'm having the same problems with removing awesomemod. I've got the new expansion just tonight after prepurchasing it. My game wouldn't work, and it's all due to awesomemod if one should believe the messages I get. I have then tried removing and uninstalling all CC taking a few hours, restarting com and then put it back in without awesomemod and the config. I deleted all caches and restarted again and then tried. I only get to the start screen, when it sends me second warning about a damaging coremod called awesomemod, and then it crashes totally. If I keep it in the folder, I get another message telling me the game might crash with the non-ea core mod. I can ignore that even though it asks me to shut down sims. Then I go and create my sims, and all is fine, untill I try to place them. When placed and I try to enter the lot, all bars and stuff disapears locking me in edit town with no options but to use the mouse to go around the map. I have to close it down from windows at this point. I also tried pre to this expansion, when I had the same problem with the last stufpack, to manually uninstall all of the games and remove all files ect.. I've gone over the manual on manual uninstallation several times to check all was right, but when I reinstalled, still my game wouldn't work without awesome mod. It's very frustrating as I have not before getting this new com had any need for awesomemod, but when my last com burned off, I thought I'd try it, and I'm happy with it exept when it comes to getting new packs and expansions for the game. Now I just want it off but I can't seem to do that, so my only hope is to wait for an update on the mod ... and plz don't be long with an update, my sister and friends are all playing already telling me how great it is :( I want my sims back :'(

Try a search.  Sounds like you have another version of AM stuffed elsewhere.

Done that too, but nothing comes up :S dunno really what more I can try, read so much about it in here, and nothing have worked :(
