There are no sims in my Saves folder so I can upload it as a Sims3Pack or not at all. If you use "editsim" you can get her back into CAS, click on the sim's icon on the control panel at the bottom of the screen, and you get an option to save the sim. This will create the .sim file, which would be preferable to the sims3pack. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Jelenedra on 2009 June 26, 15:53:04 Pics or it didn't happen.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 26, 15:59:30 Unfortunately we're not allowed to upload images here.
What I will do is put it on simlogical or something. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Marhis on 2009 June 26, 19:02:54 If you use "editsim" you can get her back into CAS, click on the sim's icon on the control panel at the bottom of the screen, and you get an option to save the sim. This will create the .sim file, which would be preferable to the sims3pack. It will work also with "change appereance". Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Jelenedra on 2009 June 26, 19:15:52 Unfortunately we're not allowed to upload images here. No one else has a problem posting a picture with their pudding. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 26, 20:15:02 That's nice for them.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: kiki on 2009 June 26, 23:42:15 Leave Inge alone, Jelly...she's old and frail and not up to the new-fangled technology like image linking that all the young kids are doing nowadays...
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Marhis on 2009 June 27, 00:35:45 Those damned kids... we didn't have all this fancy webby stuff: we had to telnet uphill, gophers, and veronica, and WE LIKED IT!
*grumbles and shakes fist at the Endless September* EDIT: I suggest Inge to paste an ASCII-art version of her selfsim; not jocking ;). Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2009 June 27, 01:02:18 Is Inge actually going to ATTACH anything, or is this a useless thread?
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: witch on 2009 June 27, 01:13:59 I think her tea cosy has slipped down over her eyes.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 27, 07:21:21 I am going to put it in my own space and link from the first post. I've been a bit busy, sorry.
Later: Links now added to first post. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Rhayden on 2009 June 27, 20:02:43 1. The Launcher is Evil. We will not accept Sims3Pack puddings here. Your Pudding should be submitted by zipping the .Sim file out of the SavedSims directory. Avoid the Launcher! Please try to be less fail. A Senator of your caliber should be aware of the rules and set an example. This is not acceptable. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Emma on 2009 June 27, 20:08:52 No-one will want to play with you now, Inge. You'll have to stand in the corner and watch while everyone else has fun. That'll learn ya.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 27, 22:38:28 Please try to be less fail. A Senator of your caliber should be aware of the rules and set an example. This is not acceptable. I happen to think that is an insignificant detail therefore I ignored it. Besides which I have broken no forum rule as I haven't uploaded it to this forum. It takes a matter of seconds to unSims3Pack a sim in one of the several custom unSims3Pack tools available. Surely you're not that helpless? ::) And you, Emma. A Senator of your caliber should be aware of the rules and set an example. This is not acceptable. Having to be an "individual" style pain in the ass and be difficult and do it completely differently to everyone else is pretty much Inge's schtick. Hence why she uploads the wrong file and a shit-as-hell tiny little picture of the sim. I wouldn't expect anything less from her, really. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Marhis on 2009 June 28, 00:58:45 The problem, with packaged sims, is that they enter in game as households in the bin, while .sim files are in CAS as custom sims. Sims in the bin will also respawn in game with no control creating random wandering clones; you have to delete it from the bin as soon as you put it in game. If you want, later, to use another copy (like, populating another neighborhood, etc.) you have to reinstall the damned thing again every time.
Sims in .sim file, on the other hand, act the same as good ol' TS2 custom sims: they stay in CAS, in the custom tab, are always there, ready to go, and don't invade your hood whenever they want. So, it's not simply a matter of file format: they're completely different things, with completely different behavior (and annoyance). However, my previous method stands as an alternative. Load the sims3pack. Put simInge into the hood. Delete library to get rid of the Inge "household" to avoid reproduction. Go to game with Awesomemod installed. Use editsim on Inge and pull her into CAS and save the .sim file from there. No worries. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 28, 07:20:58 Hang on, what's the point of bringing the sim back into CAS - it's all ready to go in the game. Sure, unSims3Pack it, but why do the other stuff? It should be a true likeness of me, character flaws, colour prefs and all, ready to play. She wasn't in a house she was just a sim straight from CAS.

Hey, spazcaeks - when you pack the sim from CAS it contains all the character flaws and colour preferences. It's not like TS2, where you need to rebuild the traits. They all come pre-packed from the .sim file. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 28, 09:58:00 Spazcaeks yourself! So why does it need to go through CAS before using?
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: kiki on 2009 June 28, 10:04:59 Spazcaeks yourself! So why does it need to go through CAS before using? God you're dense today. Off your meds? As Marhis said, if you don't do the .sim file from CAS and allow people to manually add you to a house of their choosing but rather you do a .sims3pack like you did, you end up with someone from the Sim Bin that spawns clones and other pain in the ass bullshit. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 28, 10:17:14 I already told you - unpack the sim from the sims3pack FIRST. Do not install from the Sims3Pack if you don't want to. Taking the sim into CAS again adds nothing of value. But anyway, most of this stuff is old wives tales, or typical Pescado paranoia.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: kutto on 2009 June 28, 19:51:03 Inge is like the woman who gives out change at Halloween. Oh, thanks. I guess I'll use this to buy candy. So, thanks for adding a step to my Halloween process. I'm going to egg your house now.

Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Rhayden on 2009 June 28, 22:13:25 Right-click "Save as..." Or, y'know, you could just follow the rules like everybody else. Use a real browser. One that asks you what it should do when it encounters files that have extensions that it is not aware of.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 07:57:25 Is there anyone here who is so distressed by me linking to a .Sims3Pack on my site rather than uploading a .package as a thread attachment that they would like me to remove the links and close the thread? Or are most people sensible enough to be able to cope?
Please let me know, and I will weigh up the situation when I have your responses :) Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: kiki on 2009 June 29, 10:21:39 Inge is like the woman who gives out change at Halloween. I dunno, Inge seems more like the old coot that hands out mini toothbrushes and toothpaste packs on Halloween. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Rhayden on 2009 June 29, 11:49:27 Is there anyone here who is so distressed by me linking to a .Sims3Pack on my site rather than uploading a .package as a thread attachment that they would like me to remove the links and close the thread? Or are most people sensible enough to be able to cope? Please let me know, and I will weigh up the situation when I have your responses :) Follow the established rules for posting a sim or GTFO. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: jolrei on 2009 June 29, 13:24:59 Is there anyone here who is so distressed by me linking to a .Sims3Pack on my site rather than uploading a .package Actually, it was thought that you could have simply saved the CAS sim into the savedsims area from CAS (like everyone else), which would create a .sim file, not a .package file. This .sim file could be saved directly to the thread. Very easy. This also makes life extremely simple for the downloader. I mean, look at the number of posts in this thread where people experienced difficulties loading your sim. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: nekonoai on 2009 June 29, 13:54:52 FFS, just post the .sim file.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 14:25:15 I don't know how to.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Cupcake on 2009 June 29, 14:49:02 To post a .sim file:
Find SimInge in game. Move her into a home. Open the cheatbox and type "editsim Inge Jones". The Create A Sim screen should appear. On the bottom of the screen, where her thumbnail is present, click the ellipses and there should be an icon for saving. Click it. Quit game. Enter "My Documents" or similar, then "Electronic Arts", "The Sims 3" and finally "SavedSims". Your sim should be there. The exact path will vary according to where the game stores userspecific information. Upload and relink. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 14:58:17 I get "unknown command" for editsim
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: kutto on 2009 June 29, 14:59:43 You will need to install Awesomemod to use that cheat.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Cupcake on 2009 June 29, 15:02:17 Or, simply taking Inge to a mirror has the same effect.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 15:06:54 Ok so take her to a mirror then save and I get a saved Inge in Savedsims? I will try.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Jelenedra on 2009 June 29, 16:10:09 Be sure you hit the "Save Sim" button while in the CAS mode, Inge. Saving the actual game after looking in the mirror will not have the same affect.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 16:18:55 The tick icon, you mean?
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Jelenedra on 2009 June 29, 16:27:01 I think so. Can't picture it right now. It's tiiiiiny though.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 16:40:46 I used the tick both times but I am not experiencing any SavedSims folder either in My Documents or the Program Files hierarchy.
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Faizah on 2009 June 29, 16:46:46 Quick screenshot from CAS:
(http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p282/Lady_Faizah/TS3/SaveSim.jpg) It deposits the sim under My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\SavedSims all nice and ready to upload. Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Inge on 2009 June 29, 16:54:16 So how did you get that options panel to appear?
Title: Re: Inge's Pudding Post by: Jelenedra on 2009 June 29, 16:54:52 Hit the ... button.
