Title: Hygiene Bug Fix *NL ONLY* Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 19, 04:22:31 Fixes bug in hygiene-code when a sim becomes stinky as a result of an external action, (Me != Param0), because the original code by Maxis is munged. yay.
This problem tentatively classified as "Critical" and is roughly along the same level of severity as the Pool Light Bug and the Clothing Event Bug. Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: veilchen on 2005 November 19, 04:29:48 Tentatively, shmentatively. If you even suspect it could become 'critical', I'm downloading. So far you're batting 1000 in your predictions, and that's good enough for me.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Andygal on 2005 November 19, 04:31:46 Yeah, If Pescado says it's a potiental critical issue I'm downloading the fix. Since I am not awesome I bow to the wisdom of those who are More Awesome Than Me.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: lindaetterlee on 2005 November 19, 04:45:34 Don't rip me a new one but does this have anything to do with the new turn on stinky?
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 19, 04:48:33 Don't rip me a new one but does this have anything to do with the new turn on stinky? The code changes to support the "Stinky" turn on is indeed what causes it (although nobody actually needs to be turned on by it for the bug to hit). Due to the nature of the bug, it can appear to strike at random without warning, causing sims and objects to reset themselves with no apparent cause.Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: PKTrekGirl on 2005 November 19, 05:19:43 Thanks so much, Hacking God! :)
Another save, no doubt. Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Hairfish on 2005 November 19, 07:47:45 You speak, we download/install. Just out of curiosity, though, what would be the early symptoms of needing this in a hurry? In case others describe them...
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 19, 07:56:05 Basically, it can cause random jumping out of things. The code is essentially completely wrong.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Hairfish on 2005 November 19, 07:57:44 Thank you ~ I think I probably need it, then.

Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: dewshine on 2005 November 20, 01:44:30 I was wondering why my fit sim jumped up from the table while on a date...
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: lauraglenn on 2005 November 22, 00:01:38 Here's to something you don't know you need until someone tells ya... I wondered why I had 2 sims jump up from the table when dining downtown. The jumping reset the date so they wanted to dine out again! Thanks for the fix, JM.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Ancient Sim on 2005 November 25, 15:36:49 I've noticed that even if a Sim has "Stink" as a turn-on, they still react in the same way to smelly people - i.e., they pull a face and get a "Be Disgusted" icon. I don't think I've ever seen a positive reaction to it from those who are supposed to be turned-on by it. This is probably due to the same bad programming as that which causes Sims turned-off by certain Sims to still swoon over them if they happen to be Romance.
Will this mod fix this? Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 26, 03:46:01 No, that's an unrelated thing, the "Smells Bad" emitter. Sorta like the Romance sim is the "Me So Sexy" emitter, which has nothing to do with NL and ignores all of the code pertaining to attraction.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Layla Sims on 2005 December 17, 20:39:48 I wasn't going to get this until I read down further about the jumping out of actions. I get that. Now, hopefully, I won't have it anymore. :-*
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: Swiftgold on 2005 December 19, 04:32:51 I get the jumping too, but I always assumed that was because I accidentally deleted a furious token from this particular Sim when I was cleaning out his memories, because he was the only one with the jumping. I made him re-furious with them and let it run out as normal, but he still jumps out of certain activities. The Bathroom Uses You hack reacts badly with him as well - he's constantly jumping back and being re-used, so it's a bad loop. Without the bathroom hack he just jumps out of using the toilet. I'll try this fix just in case, though, and it's always good to prevent stupid things...
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: dadditude on 2006 May 21, 03:21:52 Is this still needed with OFB and/or FFS (Anyone else think Maxis named Family Fun Stuff that just to take advantage of JM's popularity, or is it just me?)
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: breyerii on 2006 May 21, 03:29:07 It's not in the list of OFB hacks, so I'd say it's not necessary for it.
Title: Re: Hygiene Bug Fix Post by: miramis on 2006 May 28, 00:33:03 Is this still needed with OFB and/or FFS (Anyone else think Maxis named Family Fun Stuff that just to take advantage of JM's popularity, or is it just me?) No, but I did do a double take when I noticed both the FFS name and then the Los Pescados object fish things. My feeling was that they were giving him a nod in recognition of what he does for the community. I thought perhaps others felt the same, but maybe not. |
