Title: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: fff on 2005 July 27, 05:49:48 My Pleasantview has suddenly been hit with a spate of Nannies who are unhealthily dedicated to their profession, and refuse to leave the house once their allotted time is up. When I choose the 'Dismiss' option, the parental Sim will approach the nanny and can quite clearly be seen to tell them to bugger off, yet the nanny stays put. Killing them traumatises the Sim-kids, and deleting them gets the job done, but is really the wusses' way out, I fear... They're driving me insane, what with their endless fascination with making gelatine desserts which NOBODY EVER EATS, oh, and the peeing everywhere like untrained puppies.
Any ideas? I haven't added any non-JMP hacks lately, (even then, I only have a couple of those - Twojeff's, Inge's teleporter bush, and Merola's painting. Oh, and the Voodoo Bottle. That's it, honest..) Other than this, everything else in my game is fine. It's just that I can no longer handle my Sim houses being swamped in puddles of Nanny-pee, to be quite frank. >:( Thank you. :) Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: witch on 2005 July 27, 06:52:49 Do you have the uni expansion? My nannies used to be just like your description up to when I installed uni. I also use some of JM pescado's hacks, like lobonanny I think it's called. Maybe you could try that?
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: cwieberdink on 2005 July 27, 11:58:20 I just recently have a nanny who won't leave. I've used the lot debugger to "clear offworld objects" and it keeps saying one object is fixed, but the nanny stays. Sleeping in my beds, walking around in her undies :o eating our food, etc. I have "dismissed" her and no go.

To clear a sim that is IN the world, simply delete them. I knew that, yes, I was hoping that somehow her body was showing up in-world but her info was off-world.... I don't know. take my lips. Like I said in chat, the bottom one is pretty useless anyway. Chris Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: draranha on 2005 July 27, 14:50:46 Nannies don't leave because their cars don't come!
I had this problem once and got this error log: Object id: 316 name: Car - NannyMobile - 0,8 Stack size: 1 Error: Hit Break Point Primitive. Iterations: 29 Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 July 27, 14:59:09 This problem has been blamed on "downloadable cars" in the past.
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 27, 15:15:08 Downloadable cars cause all kinds of problems!
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: draranha on 2005 July 27, 15:19:08 Downloadable cars??? I've never seen this!
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 27, 15:23:23 They sometimes come in houses, so if you've d/l'd any lots, it's worth checking with the hackscanner to be sure you haven't got one.
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: fff on 2005 July 28, 01:59:32 Thanks for the advice - I haven't got any downloaded cars, and I don't download lots, either, so... who knows?
Ah well. Just yet another Maxis annoyance to live with... *off to mop up nanny pee* :) Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: witch on 2005 July 28, 05:23:51 I don't think this nanny problem of staying, eating and sleeping is to do with downloadable cars or any other hacks. I had this problem right from the beginning of sims2, before I even knew about hacks, before I downloaded any lots. I had three nannies living in one house, they just wouldn't go home. This was the first sims2 bug I encountered and one of the reasons I first went looking for a site like modthesims2 to find out how to get rid of the damned overstayers. I didnt know about testing cheats then either, nor the solution to get rid of the nannies, the 'moveobjects on', then 'delete' procedure.
I haven't had a nanny just stay without going home since the uni EP came out. Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: cwieberdink on 2005 July 28, 10:52:58 I deleted her. It worked. I do not have any downloadable cars, although I did at one time discover some and deleted them.

The lot is one of the pre-existing Pleasantview houses; I've never downloaded a house and certainly never any cars. The nanny wet herself and fell asleep standing up. I didn't delete her because I wanted to see whether she would die. So I hired another nanny, who won't leave either. Eventually the original nanny recovered and my Sims were able to interact with her again, but the interactions were those that would be available with a normal visitor. The mother is now friends with her so I'd feel kind of bad about getting rid of her.
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 28, 16:52:53 If you've now hired another nanny, watch out! They could both turn up!
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: sadiebutterfly on 2005 July 28, 20:27:15 I did have two wandering around the house for a couple of days, passing out and wetting themselves at intervals. It was quite amusing. But today Nanny 1 stopped responding to interactions (the visitors pie menu was still coming up, but she was just frozen and not accepting anything) so I deleted them both. That seemed to work. They weren't on a schedule so I'm not too worried about them turning up again.
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: Katze on 2005 July 28, 20:36:06 I have a Nanny that shows up every night and I have no kids in that house, so I get the message there are no kids here and she leaves again. I wish I could fire her so she doesn't show up evey night but she doesn't stay long enough for me to do that.
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 28, 20:45:08 Sometimes you can call on the phone and terminate the contract.
Quote *off to mop up nanny pee* Just had a thought - do you have diagonal doors on your bathrooms? If so then NPCs and visitors sometimes, if not always, won't use them in University, although they did in just sims2. Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: fff on 2005 July 29, 02:00:25 Nice thought, Zephyr, but no, I don't have diagonal doors. Although my Sims all seem to be fascinated with the bathroom, so it's sometimes no surprise the nanny can't get in to pee, the place is usually clogged up with Sims having conversations/proposing/giving birth/expiring.

Pescado's bathroom uses you. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/hacks/ Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 29, 02:09:23 Or make sure they have long queues after they go to the bathroom!
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: Darkstormyeve on 2005 July 29, 02:20:53 I would actually like to have a "no shoo" toilet, similar to the "no shoo" showers you can get. Anyone heard of such a thing?
Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 29, 02:28:32 Dunno, but I put family doors on all my upstairs bathrooms, just leave a basic loo downstairs for visitors - which is what a multiple bathroomed RL family would do! Who wants visitors wandering all over their house as if they owned the place?
I also think I used to have a hack to stop outgoing sims displaying modesty over another naked sim in the hot-tub, which also affected bathroom behaviour, but it wasn't one I'd intentionally d/l'd so it went the way of all unsolicited hacks in my game, and I've no idea where it came from! But when it was still running, sims stopped locking bathroom doors, anyone culd walk in and pee while they were in the shower, and no shooing! Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: DuckSpeak on 2005 July 29, 02:33:52 I deleted her. It worked. I do not have any downloadable cars, although I did at one time discover some and deleted them. Chris You shouldn't have done that. All nannies MUST die. Period. ;) Some of my sims don't shoo at all, even though their outgoing is quite low, even to complete strangers. Savages. :o Title: Re: Nannies Who Won't Leave Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2005 July 29, 02:36:54 Quite a few of my nannies are now babies, but of course they've been replaced!
