I haven't seen it yet, so I'm asking here. I've seen people with the official, hard copy game (and pics!) so maybe someone knows...

I'm going to get the Sim3 someway, somehow, on the 2nd but as I am going to install it on my husband's prized computer I thought it would be considerate to try and get a version that won't lolkill. I'm aware there is a workaround... but really, I'd rather just play the darn thing m'kay?

Did you, perhaps, reply to the wrong thread? Or do you simply *enjoy* using terrible grammar and not *linking* to the original thread that would render this one redundant?

I'm 99% percent sure that the "OFFICIAL REAL COMPLETE" version of TS3 has Securom. Unless they had some corporate spies switch out the disks worldwide.

Actually, the largest thread on here touches on the issue multiple times, and Pescado even explains the fact on the first post.

Ah, perhaps I misread it- it was my understanding that Pescado had the *downloadable* version, which even EA admits has SecuRom. I don't recall seeing any confirmation of the hard disc having it- only that everything thinks it doesn't. Well, that's why I asked for confirmation- I will restate:

Does anybody *with the hard disc* have the ability to confirm whether it does or does not have Securom? I don't want probabilities- I want first-hand knowledge or links to the same.

My information comes from someone who got her copy on Saturday. After installing she ran the game from the launcher and the disk and then checked for suckrot (more then once to be sure), it was not to be found. She then installed the stupid download manager and checked again for suckrot and again suckrot was not on her computer. She is one of the people who had massive problems due to suckrot before and has removed it from a dozen computers, so I will take her word for it.

No, MisterLeaf. First version, one that is verified pre-Gold, had SecuROM. Second version, one that is most likely the Gold, did not. Current EADM has been verified to not have SecuROM. Launcher program on the second most-likely-Gold version does not have SecuROM. Pescado has stated that the Sims3Store objects have some sort of potentially malicious/extra unknown coding to them that he is currently investigating.

What remains to be seen is if the disc version people purchase tomorrow does, or if the digital download gotten tomorrow does.

Thanks Sleepycat and Zazazu.  I've been following the forum for the past week waiting to see what the verdict was.  I guess I over looked something. 

Does that one (torrented) still have the codec.exe thing in where first you should open the exe with winrar to get rid of it and get the real exe?

It was my understanding that it was still Securom but it was disk based, much like safedisc and not the Securom of the rootkit behavior type variety.

I have installed the game, it came this morning and it doesn't have Securom on it, and neither does the EADM - fantastic.

If this actually turns out to be true, then I will buy a copy of the game. I'll wait until someone I know and trust confirms this though, I'm a wary olde bastarde.

SecuROM was not visibly reported on the disk, but neither was anything STANDARD, so whatever they're using is very much nonstandard and nefarious.

The first Razor torrent posted on Pirate Bay did, yes. They unrar'ed one did not. I can't speak for any of the other copies.

Is that your subtle way of stating we should wait a day or two for a no-CD crack?  :D

So if there is some new malicious software, the crack for the latest pirated edition should also block it for the legal game right?

So where to do download a NOcd fix for the game?

I'm about to install it but I really don't want to take any chances.

According to http://reclaimyourgame.com/ there is.  Yes, SuckUDry is on 3.  I'm not surprised by it in the least.

I looked over at GCW and they had something labeled as noCD/DVD. But I'm not sure if what they have is just a mini-mount, or if it also behaves in the same manner as the typical noCD/DVD.

Perhaps someone can verify whether or not it is a suitable alternative?

Yep, a sadly uninformed friend of mine had trouble installing because it was squawking about her CD burner software. She uninstalled the software...  ::)
