Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2005 November 17, 21:07:14 Wow, that's a little unbalanced there. *600* as a continuous rate? That outclasses even the military career reward, and that's a burst-rate object. More reasonable values would be about 200, 250, 300.
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: crammyboy on 2005 November 17, 21:36:26 Yes it is a bit high, I'll change that.
But you have to consider that you need quite a high body skill just to stay on the thing. Especially at the" hard" level. Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: Ancient Sim on 2005 November 18, 00:46:37 What are the levels without the mod installed? I'm not sure that I want townies gaining body skills too rapidly, or (a) they won't keep falling off so my Sims can use it and (b) they'll be more likely to win fights.
Incidentally, why when this item is in use do the Sims carry-on as if their path to it is blocked? They don't seem to realise someone is actually using it. Is this a bug? Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: crammyboy on 2005 November 18, 00:58:04 It is 200 for all levels without the hack and community skilling will not work.
I'll look at the stomping. Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. I know nothing about the inner workings of Sims 2 code, but is it possible to make community skilling so only playable sims get the points? Possibly just the sims that you're currently controlling? If this is already how it works then feel free to rip my lips or whatever Crammyboys do instead. Yes, that foot-stomping thing irritates me too. Is this true, or are they talking a load of bollards (again)? I have heard situations where people have said that their male sims have become alien pregnant while using the thing if they have been abducted before. No idea to the truth behind it..don't have many abducted sims to try it out on.... Not to take the thread completely OT..but since somebody mentioned the foot stomping thing..is there any hacks or mods out there that get rid of this? I am completely sick of seeing sims whine and stomp about things. I currently have a house now where the wife stands around the computer and whines and stomps ANY TIME somebody else is on it. In fact the only time she wants to play on the computer or sit in that damned chair is when somebody else is occupying it heh. Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: veilchen on 2005 November 18, 16:35:49 Not here, not yet Skandelouslala, but hopefully JM will get around to fixing the 'lesswhiny' mod soon. By the way, don't install the current one if you have NL. They don't like each other much ;)
P.S. Sorry to hear about your pudding :D Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: crammyboy on 2005 November 18, 16:47:09 Sims can be abducted from the sphere if they have previously been abducted. It varies from 1.65% to 2.5% depending on how many times the sim has been abducted. (Up to 5 times, after that it doesn't matter)
I did apply Pescado's less-whiny values to the nightlife ones. It is in the podium somewhere. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=643.msg23592#msg23592 Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Just show me what the problem is, if I want to fix it for them I will, but usually my obstacles are placed quite intentionally :D
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: Regina on 2005 December 04, 21:21:09 Not meaning to continue the derailment here, but there is a less whiny mod on SimLogical that's NL compatible. The only thing is, it doesn't seem to have any effect on the computer! Like you, I have a sim who seems only to want to use the computer when someone else is. ::)
Hmmm. Interesting about abductions on the sphere. Zoiks! (My hubby hates my game because his sim-self ended up abducted by aliens! ROFL) Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. I had this happen to one of my sims....didn't realize that was the cause at the time....I had my male sim use the sphere and he had high body points....late that nite I had him woohoo with his wife....the next morning he runs to the toliet to puke....I'm thinking what the hell is going on?! I knew he didn't get abducted by the telescope (though at the time I had a hack for that)...so I checked his stats with insim (not inteen) and sure enough he was pg with an alien baby....needless to say my sims now use the sphere very sparingly.... OH and I really hate their whining espically when the want to use the same computer that someone else is using while there are extras that are readily available.....why do they do that? tgdry6 Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: jase on 2006 February 12, 03:59:12 Did this get changed after the recent NL patch? There was something about the electro sphere in the patch??? Indeed they did. They made it so that young-adults could no longer become pregnant as a result of using the dance sphere. You can undo this "feature" here:http://mysite.verizon.net/aestudios/sims2/inteenimater/hotfix/InTeenimater_HotFix_DanceSphereYAPregnancy_NL.zip 'Course you'll have to jump some hoops to make the pregnancy stick unless you have the kitten-killer installed, in which case, that detail is taken care of for you. Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: syberspunk on 2006 February 12, 04:22:31 Wait, I'm confused. Ok... so will your hot "fix" now enable pregnancy via the electro sphere?
By "feature" do you mean the fact that YAs can get pregnant, or that they now can't get pregnant. Usually "feature" is used in the context of something that is unexpected and most likely not wanted. Which is what I think people in general would want it "fixed" so that their YA sims do NOT get pregnant. You're saying that something was indeed changed, and that it was made so that they no longer become pregnant. Are you calling the original "bug" the "feature" or the "fix" is now the feature? ::) My brain is all fried thinking about the kittens! The kittens! My GOD the KITTENS! Freakin' annoying cutesy buggers! KILL 'EM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /me pants and raves like a lunatic foaming at the mouth. Huh? What was I saying again? Oh, yeah. So what does this mean now. I thought this particular hack had something to do with the skilling part. I didn't realize it also fixed a pregnancy bug? Or it doesn't? I'm all confused! ??? Post by: jase on 2006 February 12, 04:25:50 Quote from: Maxis Young Adult Male Sims can no longer get pregnant and give birth by using the Electro Dance Sphere. Since YA pregnancies aren't natively supported in the game, Maxis felt it was a "bug" that YA males could become pregnant so they removed it in the patch. I simply provided a mod which rolls that functionality back in case you want YA's to still get pregnant. The Maxis patch also includes skilling fixes, but that is altogether separate. J Ahh... just cause my addled jellified brain needs further clarification (as I have been hacking away at, what I thought would be an easy, tiny hack, and of course they never are easy or simple now are they? :P) is it that they completely disabled YA pregnancy (and thus interferes with the kitten killer ::) ) or specifically getting pregnant via the electrosphere itself? Or... in other words, does your hotfix allow pregnancies in general for YAs, or it re-enables? pregnancy specifically via the electrosphere? Why the heck would the electrosphere cause pregnancies anyways? My foggy brain vaguely recalls something about being cloned from the telescope? But even if that were true... wouldn't simply removing those pregnancy inducing bhavs fix it? Is the pregnancy only related to YA use? Or can any sim that is capable of getting pregnant have an "accident" by using the electrosphere? Talk about going for a ride. ;D Ste Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 February 12, 05:57:05 There is a remote chance that if a male has been abducted by aliens before, he can be abducted again while using the electrosphere, and thus become alien pregnant. From reading about the patch on Maxis' website, the patch only addresses YA males getting pregnant via the electrosphere, no one else. This was probably because the Electrosphere was new in NL and they didn't think about closing that loophole at the time. I don't think YA males can come back pregnant if they get abducted while stargazing with the telescope. I have heard of this happening though, but the pregnancy doesn't advance until they graduate and move back home.

Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: Database on 2006 February 12, 10:29:28 Jase, I like your signature. Expect to offend some Christians :D
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: ElviraGoth on 2006 February 12, 13:05:33 I don't know how "remote" that chance of being abducted in the EDS is, but I've only had two teen boys get abducted for the ET Reparations Grant, and both of them got alien PG at Uni. I didn't know why when the first one happened, and had to teleport the baby to the home lot to get her out of the dorm. The second one (twins, no less!) I suspended with InSim. So the fix is probably to keep male YAs from having babies they can't take with them when they leave unless you use a non-Maxian way of getting them out.
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 12, 15:12:55 I should think that's the case. However, I've sometimes wondered what would happen if you kept the kid there in the uni house, maybe moving in younger members of the parent's family to take care of it. Would the kid still be able to "Go to college"?

Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 12, 22:20:42 But, if you don't use those kinds of hacks, then you couldn't send him to Uni! So, would he grow up or stay a teen forever? Or would he even get that far?
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: jase on 2006 February 13, 02:10:26 The most likely outcome (assuming you managed to keep them on the lot until they were a teen) is that he/she would automatically age to a young adult the next time you loaded the lot after their child->teenage birthday. The game is "wired" to automatically promote (on load) any teenager it discovers living on a Uni lot to a YA. Your teenage years would be short lived.
Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2006 February 13, 02:12:47 So at least he'd be able to go back home!

I saw this (http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=8173) and I was wondering then, is it still buggy in OFB? I originally thought that your hack here fixes this. But since it is NL only, I figured it wasn't needed anymore? Ste Title: Re: Electro Dance Sphere skilling changes. Post by: crammyboy on 2006 April 05, 19:51:56 It should work fine with OFB, there was a change in the versions in one of the bhavs, but I couldn't find any real difference.

It happened in my game, and glitched the hell out of it- I ended up having to restore a backup neighborhood (SimPE for the win).
