Title: Adding/cheating business perks
Post by: professorbutters on 2009 April 12, 13:28:12
I am rebuilding my neighborhood.  It's relatively easy to reset skills, badges, etc., as there are any number of hacks and in-game cheats which allow this.  However, I can't seem to find anything that will add the business perks to my recreated sims.  I would like to be able to do this, as I worked my butt off getting my Sims to have them in the first place.

I never figured out a way to do that, myself.  I ended up re-starting the businesses, turning motive decay off, and getting things back the hard way.  But you've got waaaay more businesses than I have.

Shiftclick on the Hammer and Sickle with a visitor selected, and choose I CAN HAZ MOAR STARS. It will give you more stars, which will give you business rank and more perks.

I have this thing called Dolphin's Business Adjuster by Dolphin26 at MTS2 and it has an option to give yourself all of the business perks. It's not the most refined cheat ever, but generally if I'm trying to cheat-add the perks, I'm not really going for finesse.

These are the kinds of things that should be in the RTFM.

Yes, but those are esoteric features not REALLY meant to be used by mere peasants, which is why they are awkward, clumsy, and hidden away in shiftclick land.

Yes, well, not knowing what things DO keeps people from using them.

That's because they're not really intended to be used. They were debugging functions I created to test things, and their method of invocation is thus a bit roundabout and often depends on the possession of undiscovered shinies. Someone who wanted to intentionally make a customer stars cheat, for instance, might have made it so any customer on the lot can be given stars. Since making a user-friendly cheat was not really my goal, BRY only gives it to the selected sim. How you can manage to turn a customer into the selected sim is left as an exercise to the reader.
