Title: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: SuperScarlett on 2009 April 11, 20:31:14 Soo, last night I was trying to install the Radiance Light System from MTS2. I thought I was successful until when I woke up this morning.
The thing comes with folders to replace only one part of the data in C:\Program Files. But instead of having folders for the IKEA and H&M Stuff Packs with the registered symbol, it just has an "r". No problem, I thought, ;) I'll just stick the new folders in, rename them with the symbol and delete the old ones. OMG AM I STUPID OR WHAT. :'( So now, all the data from H&M AND IKEA are gone, except for the data for RLS. I haven't even tried to start the game up, nor do I want to in fear of what will happen. Those were 2 of my favorites! What do I do? :-[ I broke it. :( Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: Marhis on 2009 April 11, 23:04:50 Reinstall H&M and IKEA?
Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: SuperScarlett on 2009 April 12, 00:11:21 Kind of what I was thinking, but I don't own either (I borrowed both from my library) so their availability is variable. And I'm not even thinking of touching the game before I get them back in.

Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: morriganrant on 2009 April 12, 02:06:00 System Restore to immediately before you did that? I'm actually not sure why they think they are not installed, usualy, so long as the registry keys are there, the game thinks they are still there.
Did you check your recycle bin for the old files? You may have to delete the radiance folders first and then restore the others in order to keep them from messing up again. You may have to delete the radiance folders first and then restore the others in order to keep them from messing up again. It's not that they think they are gone. They are, because I messed up. I deleted the original folders and put in the RLS folders, with only the data to the lights in. But what's this about a System Restore? Will it work if I was the one who deleted the folders, and it's not because my comp messed up? And I'm OCD about getting rid of files in the Recycle Bin. They were gone as soon as they got there. I don't know why I do that ... I shouldn't, really ... (http://cats.moreawesomethanyou.com/piratecat.jpg) Cute kitty! but idgi? I was actually directed here to ask for your help, Mr. Pescado. Can you help me?? ;D Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2009 April 12, 04:03:51 http://thepiratebay.org/

Perhaps you should look there. Continuing to flail like this will start to get peoples' goats around here.

Get Avast, run avast's scan on boot option. It may take a few hours but just let it run and have it move everything to chest or delete it. Get malwarebytes and run that in safemode. It will get anything that Avast didn't. Do not use malwarebytes first, some variations of those scams will actually cause BSOD if you use malwarebytes first. I don't think the original file I had that was labeled H&M actually was anything Sims-related, so I had to redownload. The H&M contains both an .mdf and an .mds, as well as the installation code. IKEA doesn't have any files with the extensions you mentioned but it does have folders called "TSBin" and "TSData" like other EP and SP folders, so I don't know what to do with it. I'm not sure what to do with the Ikea, if it has all of the same folders as a usual SP then maybe someone packaged up the SP straight as they had it? Does steam offer the IKEA pack? Because if they do, then you may have gotten a straight rip and you may not need to do anything else with that one other then stick it in with the other Eps and Sps. Without looking at the thing I really do not know. The only game that I've had pirated from Steam was SilentHill:homecoming. Doing this with an expansion pack is new to me. As for the Mfd and Mds file (or any of the others I listed) that is easy. Get Daemon tools, install it. After install you should have a little icon, a green circle with a lightning bolt through it, click on it, there will be an option that comes up that says "device", click on that. This will bring up a window to search through your files, direct it to the MDS. The Install screen will either come up on it's own or you can go into My computer and you will see that Daemon is now acting like any other CD drive. Sorry I wasn't clear, it doesn't have all the same folders. I checked FFS and GLS (the only other SPs I have) and they have 4 folders: CSBin, TSBin, TSData and Support. The IKEA I downloaded lacks a CSBin folder and has two extra folders, AutoRun and Crack. As for the Mfd and Mds file (or any of the others I listed) that is easy. Get Daemon tools, install it. Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: jolrei on 2009 April 20, 17:05:06 Well if you left deamon to default install, you should have a little icon in your icon tray by your clock. And if not, the install of daemon should have created a daemon tools folder in your "Program Files" folder somewhere. Just launch Daemon from there and it should load the lightning bolt thing - sometimes it's red, incidentally (or seems to be on my system) Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: SuperScarlett on 2009 April 20, 20:24:29 Heh, it's there, only it's silver, not green or red, and I was right-clicking instead of left-clicking.

Maybe they have updated. I should probably go see. As mine is usually green or red. They update reasonably regularly and provide new and whizzy "features", most of which are unnecessary, it would seem. I have never had problems with the version I have, and it was not the latest version when I downloaded it over a year ago. I only want it to mount torrents. I don't need it to make me coffee and caek as well (would probably just make insipid coffee anyway). I deleted the IKEA folders. Most of the folders I mentioned them having didn't have common files, or equivalents, with other SPs, and what's worse, avast! caught something when I tried accessing a file in them. Right now I'm getting two new torrents. Yes, this happens occasionally. Best to run with torrents that have a few comments so you can see the ones where people said "ZOMG! Torrentvirus ate my OS!!11" or some such, and avoid them. Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: SuperScarlett on 2009 April 21, 19:44:29 I deleted the IKEA folders. Comp has a virus again, though I'm not sure if it has anything to do directly with any downloads.
The new IKEA Stuff folder gave me quite a few .RARs and file with these instructions: Installation: 1. Unrar. 2. Burn or mount the image. 3. Install the game. Use the keygen in the Crack directory on the disc when prompted for a key. 4. Copy the cracked executable over from the Crack directory on the disc to your installation\TSBin directory. 5. Play the game. Who wants to translate into simple, SuperScarlett-level English? Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: socurious on 2009 April 22, 00:16:23 If you google-fu something like "how to install a torrent," and/or "using a cracked key," or anything close to what you are trying to do, there will be a number of sites from which to choose that will explain in SuperScarlett English. eHow is a good site for information.
Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: dragoness on 2009 April 22, 03:33:20 Installation:
1. Unrar. This is Duh. 2. Burn or mount the image. Use your shiny new Daemon Tools to mount the image inside the rars to a virtual drive. You've been given help on this program already and it really isn't that hard. Read the buttons in the program! It tells you what it does! 3. Install the game. Use the keygen in the Crack directory on the disc when prompted for a key. Also not hard. Did you even LOOK in the Crack folder before declaring you couldn't do this? Protip: One file is the sims2 exe and one is not. Guess what they do. 4. Copy the cracked executable over from the Crack directory on the disc to your installation\TSBin directory. 5. Play the game. Seriously, it's not that hard. The directions are oh-so-complicated and scary, but if you just use your brain and read the information already provided to you in this thread and the helpfiles within the Daemon Tools program, this is cake. Your download came with instructions for goodness' sake. Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: morriganrant on 2009 April 22, 04:18:03 Sorry about the double post (and this isn't the first time :-\ ). Comp has a virus again, though I'm not sure if it has anything to do directly with any downloads. If you have a virus, use Avast antivirus's Scan on boot option and let it run untill it's done, also, get malwarebytes and run that afterward, preferably in safe mode. The new IKEA Stuff folder gave me quite a few .RARs and file with these instructions: Installation: 1. Who wants to translate into simple, SuperScarlett-level English? http://www.malwarebytes.org/ You should be able to just use malwarebytes, but if it's that Vundo trojan thing then running it first may cause BSOD. I'm... not sure it can get simpler. You know what you did with the other SP? Well do the same thing here. Use your compressorizing program(WinRar) and extract the files. If they are labeled .r01, .r02, and ect, then extract the first one and the others should follow on their own. If they do not, then Highlight all of them and extract all. You will then have files of one of the kind I mentioned before, an ISO, or Bin and Cue, or MDS and MFS. Just mount the file with Daemon like you did with the other, if you don't know which file to mount, then try each of them in turn. Only the right one to mount will work. Once it is mounted, go into My Computer, right click, Explore. There will be a Folder named "crack" in there. Inside that folder should be the Keygen and the No cd. I would go download a newer No cd as that one may be dated. Once the game is installed, patch it, and use the no-cd. Title: Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone Post by: SuperScarlett on 2009 April 22, 20:27:42 Well, I'm pretty sure no one told me what burning and mounting are, until morriganrant just now told me that it's the same thing I did before. Asinine Airhead == good description for me. This is Duh. It was the same virus, morriganrant, so I did the same thing you told me to do before and it worked out fine. Unfortunately when I try to unRAR it tells me that some of the files are corrupt, so it doesn't extract any of them. Back to work ... ETA: My bad, I don't think it's finished downloading yet. Guess I should've checked first :-\ ETA (2.0): Case closed! Both have been successfully restored. Thanks, to everyone! |
