More Awesome Than You!

OK, here's a little guessing game for those of you who are bored with your Sims (or not).  The following picture shows 3 familar adult Sims from Pleasantview, now teens on the verge of going to Uni in my re-started version (well, they are at Uni in my game now, but in the pic they weren't).  The girl will probably be easy, the darker-skinned guy not too difficult, but the blond guy might be a little harder to guess.  I won't give anymore clues unless they are needed, which I don't think they will be.  I know it's dark in the picture, but I didn't want to make it too easy.  Don't forget to click on the pic to enlarge it ot you'll strain your eyes trying to work it out.

Name them left to right (blond guy, girl, black-haired guy) and the first to get them all right will win ... well, nothing actually.  But don't complain, geez you'll get KUDOS.

Is that blond one one of tos "Broke" kids? And the black haired one? I'd Go for Alexander Goth... none of them look familiar to me

The other 2 are Brandi and Don, I'll bet...and the blond one...the only naturally blond premade I can think of is actually Morty Goth....but since Morty's an elder, if he's had a hair color change I would go for Daniel Pleasant.

Blonde one has to be Skip Broke. It looks just like him. I'll agree with idtaminger on the other two being Brandi and Don.

I guessing Skip Broke, Cassandra Goth and Don Lothario.

But isn't Skip dead? Maybe he is Skip, cuz I don't recognize him at all, and since I haven't resurrected much of the dead sims, that would be why.

I've resurrected him, and he looks like Skip just as a teen.

the girl in the middle looks like Brandi, and the boy on the right is probably Don. I'm not sure about the guy on the left - doesn't Mortimer turn into a blond when you age-regress him, tho?

In the original Sims 1 Mortimer was set up pretty much as Gomez Adams.  You know, 'Stache, Black Hair, etc.  So how he can have blonde hair as a teen????

My guess:

Mortimer Goth, Brandi Broke, and Don Lothario.

The game tends to screw up when a person age-regresses an Elder sim, and gives them a random hair colour. People usually assume that this is their 'real' hair colour, but I just checked Mortimer's DNA and he is homozygous for brown hair.

Thank you.  Both of the children have dark hair as well so I kind of figured that he would be genetically coded the same way he looked in Sims 1.

Kukes got it!  It's Skip Broke, Brandi Broke (Newbie in the game) and Don Lothario.  And BOY is Don HOT as a teen.  Once you get rid of that fuzz and give him that floppy hair-do (which I just lerve), he's ... well, he's ... well, he's a bloody pixelated character and I'm a middle-aged woman.  I need help.

Anyway, congrats Kukes - rather apt you won, Kukes gets the Kudos has rather a ring to it, don't you think?

I think I would get a featured role in that show. If 35 counts as middle-aged. Please say it doesn't... 

No, 35 is definately NOT middle aged!  Don't feel bad, Ancient Sim, I need that help too....

I have a few sims that I consider hot....not to mention a video game character on one of the games my brother was playing this weekend....uh...yeah...I think I just said too much.

But then I'm still a teenager (almost 19 so maybe I have an excuse?)

Nah, we're all nuts. There's no excuse. But nuts is fun! I kinda like being nuts!

Needless to say, Brandi & Skip have no lightning bolts for each other.  Don & Brandi have a crossed-out one, so one of them fancies the other but it's not reciprocated - haven't worked out which way round it is yet, but I think it's Don who fancies Brandi.  Anyway, Don has 3 bolts for Lilith Dreamer and they are SO well-suited - in my original Pleasantview they're both at death's door (Don for the second time) but are the two best fighters in the entire neighbourhood.  Both have made mincemeat of the Count several times and he's enemies with both of them.  Angela is still a misery-guts and doesn't seem to fancy anybody.  Dustin & Dirk no longer exist as I deleted them.

Going back to Brandi, in my new Pleasantview she has 3 lightning bolts for Mortimer Goth of all people.  He was all over her like a dirty old  man when she was still a teen, now I know why.  She also has 3 for someone else, can't remember who now, some dormie I think.  She can stick with him and just fancy Mortimer from afar (preferably through a telescope).

Heh, cool. Don Lothario definitely has some hot genes - all his children, no matter who their mother is, are beautiful. But especially the boys.  ;) The hottest sim in my current Pleasantview is a descendant of Dina and Mortimer, Beau, Lilith and Dirk, and Don. His sister looks a bit odd (eyes too close together...) but he's a cutie! And I'm 20, and having slight crushes on computer game characters is completely normal!... yes.  :)

OK, you REALLY need to start stating your gender people! All this time (3 months now? 4?) I thought Ancient Sim was male!  :P

John Burb fancies her in my game!  and Jennifer fancies almost anything in trousers!  But for some reason, even though they fight at least a dozen times a day, they WON't hate each other and break up, even though I have the easybreakupfix!  (I've also given him glasses and balding hair, but she still wants him!  Even though they only have one lightning bolt for each other.)

Do I really need too?  :P

Or else we should have a rule that all female avatars denote a male in RL, and all male avatars denote a female.  don't know where that leaves me, though!

You could try and change his aspiration and zodiac sign so with both they would not be compatible anymore.

Hmmm...or me either. Can you tell that's a male cat in my avatar? lol. I always assume (and we know what that say about "assuming") that people know I'm female until I stop and think that "Kelly" is a unisex name.

I never find that the zodiac sign really makes much of a difference, even though it's supposed to.  And aspiration shouldn't have any effect, and turn ons  and turn offs - At the moment John has vampirism and beards as his turn on, but he still fancies Jennifer (and Brandi even more).  The problem is the just neither of them have an option to break up, which they've done prior to this new NL installation, and I just can't see why!

My personal experience shows differently.  I had a couple which started with 3 light bolts.

I change their aspiration to be uncompatible and I lost 1 light bolt

I change their zodiac signs and lost another light bolts.

Play with their turnons/offs and at the end there was no light bolt showing at all.

On the other hand, when I place compatible turnons/off they gain back 1 light bolt but never got back to 3 until I change them back to their original zodiac sign and aspiration.

Also, I had a romance sim and family Sim showing 2 light bolts just because they add attraction because of their zodiac signs.  I moved-in the townie and notice there was nothing in its turn on/off that would justify that, same with the controllable one.

I've always associated it with a girl though. Probably because I've known a few girls named Kelly but I've never known a boy named Kelly.

Poor Skip--he looks terrifically cross-eyed. And I like Brandi as a sock-hopper.

Well, I suppose, with Jennifer's great need to romance every sim in trousers, I could change her aspiration!!!!!!  But since John is family, he'd probably get more than the one lightning bolt for her, and I want the story to go the break-up way, if only at least one of them would get the option!!!!

I doubt though that the chemistry system  is that strong so it would keep them married, you should be able to see the option to break-up, try making them both argue with each other or make them both get caught kissing or whatever you wish with another Sim, one day or the other they will break-up or they are really meant to grow old together.  To spare poor Lucy, make sure she is not there when all this happens lol.

I've done all that!  They get to -100/-100 with each other, and still no option to break up!

If nobody can tell your cat is male, I don't think there is any hope for guessing the sex of my avatar!  ???

Kelly -- I actually assumed you were a male since I know only one Kelly, who is male.  Just goes to show how "assuming" never works!

That is weird, did you try to see if it was like that all over the game or is this happening only with this couple?

Missdoh: no, YOU don't REALLY need to state your gender. It's quite obvious!
Zephyr: don't know many women who know about the Zephyr Zodiac. I know even less who'd use it as an avatar!
KellyQ: you anglo-saxons and your unisex names! Argh! In Greece there are MALE names and FEMALE names. No way you'd confuse one for the other.
Oh, I'm male btw! My avatar is a CD single cover by a german heavy metal band, Blind Guardian, showing an Elf crossing the icy paths of...ugh, I forgot the name! The cover is inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, as was the full-length album (Nightfall in Middle-Earth) the band released after the single.

Not had a chance yet, and the only couple I can think of is Brandi and Steve, who are engaged, but they only have one LB for eath other, no matter what I try (apart from altering their personalities, and I really don't like doing that, although I do occasionally restore some genetic personality points.)

I'm actually wondering if SimPE has caused all the trouble I've been having - my hard drive seemed to be sluggish as well, so I uninstalled Version 50, and restored version 49, which was working perfectly well, just keeps nagging at me to download the new version!  So now I shall reload the game in a while and try again, and see if my game plays a bit better!  I mean, when you have 1GB of RAM, and the game is only taking the used amount up to 6-700 MB, you don't really expect everything to be jerky, do you?

I know since I sneak on the SimPe site that they already release an updated version of 5.0, is it the one you were using?

Why on earth should women not know about the Zephyr Zodiac!  Greece is obviously STILL the home of male chauvinism!


I've managed to break them up now - I took the EasyBreakUp fix out when I realised that what was probably happening was , since the fix allows them to break yup if the relationship drops below 90/90 and they were at one point -100/-100 that the fix doesn't distinguish between minuses and pluses.  Pescado, sort that on out!!!! ROFL!



Sorry, I haven't a clue, it was the one that version 49 kept on telling me to get, so I got it, and that's when the problems really started!  But they haven't stopped yet - I think this Pleasantview is on it's way to becoming a BFBVFS!

But at least now my package files have reverted to looking like ordinary files and haven't been taken over by simPE, which is what had happened and why I think my game was in such a mess.  I remember an earlier version of SimPE that did the same, and that's when I had a problem with Unlinked copies of loads of my sims before.

Alas, that is true. I'm glad I'm an exception to the rule (good upbringing helps I suppose), but regarding women and their rights we're still lacking as a whole. Not all is perfect in my little country, no. At least we produce feta!

I've never even SEEN one live mate, let alone ridden in one! Unless virtual riding is counted, in which case I've taken a stroll or two in the San Andreas version of the rig (it's called Oceanic in-game).

There you go then - the one I rode in was a yellow soft top convertible, and about half a dozen of us packed into it for a ride through Swinging London.  Bet you weren't even born then!

Well I really loved the 60's and all my favourite music is from that era.  I STILL love the Kinks, the Small Faces, Led Zeppelin, the Four Tops ... the list is endless.  I had a cowbell and clackers and flowery bell-bottoms.  Oh, I do miss it, I really do.  Peace, man.

I was born in the 60's but even though I was obviously too young to appreciate the music of the era at the time, I have to say my hard drive is jam packed full of 60's songs and it is the only music I really enjoy....perhaps it's embbeded in my subconscious  ;D

Hey Black Sabbath is an heavy metal band which started in the late sixties (well for the sixties it was really heavy stuff).  I saw them live a few years ago when they reunited, was an awesome show.

And I love Pink Floyd which is not heavy but such a great band.

Well, Heavy Metal was original part of the "Underground" movement in rock music, and that started in the late 60's.  Bands like King Crimson were part of this movement too.  And the late lamented Jimi Hendrix was still around then, and his influence on music at that time was phenomenal.

I completely agree with you on that, if they would have not innovate and tried new things the music today would be completely different.

We'd probably still have Frank Sinatra sound-alikes singing My Way!  Oops!  Go to any karaoke pub, and they're still around!

Ironic that you mention the Greek names being only male or female because when I was a kid I went to school with three other Kellys, all boys! I hated it! I always thought I'd change my name to Cassandra (Greek name definitely) when I was an adult. Little did I realize that by that point, I wouldn't care that I had " a boy name". ;D

It isn't just Anglo-Saxons!  Think of how many Spanish and Spanish American men have the name Maria!  And how many Frenchmen, and French descended Americans/Canadians etc., have the name Marie!

At least when the name was in common usage in the UK, it was spelt Marion as opposed to the female spelling Marian.
