Title: I Have. Free Time Crash on Load - FIXED
Post by: buddha pest on 2009 January 26, 04:08:30
I have removed the downloads. It still crashes.

I have deleted the caches. It still crashes.

I have searched MATY, and decided that posting a personalized log might help me locate the trouble faster.

I have attached an error log.

I have come seeking further troubleshooting techniques.

ETA - I only assume this thing is some sort of error log? I actually have no idea. It doesn't look like the error logs I have known from days of yore, so this could be a big Retarded. I don't know. I just know it's the thing from the logs folder from the exact time the game last crashed.

Feel free for lulz if it's nothing relevant whatsoever. I will lulz too.

Take out your whole TS2 folder, and generate fresh 'hoods.  Maybe the first crash corrupted one or all of your 'hoods.

Okay.

But first...I uninstalled Free Time and tried to reinstall, but er, I'm new to Vista, and I can't figure out how to get the disk to run the installer now. I can not make it manually install by clicking any of the buttons that say they will launch the installer either. Anyone have advice on this?

And yes, I know it's a great sin to be installing from the cd, and suckurom is happening, and so on and so forth, but just humor me here, okay?

Note also, that I'm stupid at computers, so if there is a universal Windoze way to make software install in general, I would need it spelled out for me. Where the hell is the "Run" box on Vista anyway? I can't find it.

You need to change your autoplay settings here; Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\AutoPlay.

Sorry, I should've mentioned that I've already done that. It still won't auto-launch the installer for some reason.

So anyway, now that I've found the Run command (::)), am I supposed to be typing something different than F:\RunGame.exe? Is there something different for installing rather than running? Or is something just wonky here?

Do you have any emulation software running?  Like Daemon tools without YASU or Alcohol 120?  I know that on my PC, TS2 running off a legal cd will crash if any of these programs are running at the same time.

Perhaps try downloading a less SuckuRom product, just see what happens.

No.

Have you tried starting Windows Explorer, opening your CD-Rom drive with it and double-clicking the "autorun" file? Windows Explorer is buried in the "Accessories" folder on account of its being useful. My sincere apologies if this was the first thing you tried.

Yes, I have.

I'm started to get pretty peeved here at the wtf-ness.

Maybe it IS time to learn no-cd cracking and removing the suckurom.

Do it.  Why are you giving EA money for putting security software on your computer that hides itself and you did not agree to it in EAs EULA?

Complacency. I have a pretty blissful ignorance about what the wrath of Securom really is. I do get a gnawing sense of "HOW DARE YOU," but that's about the extent of it.

So anyhow, you guys aren't going to believe the amount of powertard you have witnessed in this thread. The reason I couldn't get the thing to install is...for some reason I was fumbling with Disk 2 the entire time.

I have no idea. I really don't. Sorry.

I'll post an update later as to whether the matter of the crashing has been solved yet.

I think your avatar says it all, really.

I think it says it all not only about the goings-on of this thread, but also the outcomes of all my day to day trivialities. It's always some ridiculous, obvious thing.

If everyone wanted to start calling me Big Stupid Sandy Bruty, I'd have to say I had it coming.

Edit - Sooo, my Riverblossom Hills was borked. I tossed it out, and now all is well again. Happy Crash Time is over.
