Title: new computer and drivers
Post by: LynnMar on 2008 December 30, 20:44:05
My sis got me a computer for Christmas and I hate it,  I hate the windows vista and I hate my graphic card, it is an ATI radeon

I was wondering if you should uninstall the current driver before you update to new ones?  I alwaysdid with my NVIDIA but now  I have a Raedon.  I don't know which drivers to use now.  I updated it once and when I restarted my computer, it said the drivers were not the ones I needed and would they like for me to search the internet and download the updated drivers.

Does anybody know anything about how to find the right drivers for your Raedon?  I went to their website but it was all greek to me.   :'(     thanks

On here (http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML) choose Windows Vista 32 or 64 bit depending on your system.  Then in the next column choose Radeon, then in the next column choose which radeon card you have.  That should take you to the correct driver download page.  There should also be instructions on how to install it.

thank you so very much,   have a happy new  year,   :)

Can I ask you another question?   I have intel and it had an intregrated card,  a NVIDIA but I told my sis I did not want integrated card  and she got me this dumb Raedon.

I think  Radeon goes with  AMD  and   NVIDIA  goes  with Intel proccessors,   is that right?    thanks      ???

Wut?  Umm, no.
It's up to the vendor to choose which pair of CPU/GPU they build into the system.

At least with an ATI card, you can't get the NVidia bug. ;D   ATI cards aren't automatically made of fail.

No you can build an Intel/ATI or AMD/NVidia machine.  I have an Intel Core Duo E6750 and an ATI radeon X1950 Pro which works well together currently.  At the time of building Intel' Dual Cores were superior to AMDs but I really wanted an ATI graphics card.
