Title: Cloning a dead sim: VBT? Post by: seelindarun on 2008 November 19, 23:19:10 It seems that Simsurgery will let me apply the genes of dead sims to living ones, but would that mean borkination for my 'hood? Or is it just creepy and weird? :P
Title: Re: Cloning a dead sim: VBT? Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 November 19, 23:31:29 As long as you follow the directions for SimSurgery, you should be alright.
Title: Re: Cloning a dead sim: VBT? Post by: jolrei on 2008 November 20, 00:23:43 Should be fine, provided you are either:
1) changing the genetics/appearance of an existing sim (there is a tutorial on this at MTS2) 2) Cloning and installing as an entirely new sim. The bad thing would be if you just deleted the character file of the dead sim. Title: Re: Cloning a dead sim: VBT? Post by: seelindarun on 2008 November 20, 02:52:15 No, I don't intend to do anything necromantic with the dead sim. ;D His file is fine (I think), and his tombstone remains intact.
I was following the custom servo tute in Peasantry, but didn't want an exact copy of any of my playable sims, living or dead. Briefly, I considered making a suitable donor in CAS, but then I read over the Deleted Boogaloo tute. I decided I'm not ready for that yet. :P I settled on cloning the dead sim's genes onto the servo and then splicing the skin from a different sim. Sometimes the tools in SimPE are obvious and simple, and sometimes there are traps to VBT where you never imagined. Just checking. Baa. |
