Title: white box taking over my game
Post by: FourCats on 2008 November 12, 02:38:31
My game played just fine, until just now, for the first time white emptiness gradually covered more and more of the screen would go away then come back.  I have all the expansion packs + all the stuff packs except that newest stuff from the sim store.  I haven't gotten around to arring that yet.  The only change I made in my game is that I downloaded and installed the Apartment life patch 2, and the No cd crack to match.  I did try to use that hack that fixes the portrait changing, but I couldn't figure it out.

Did the patch break my game?
Did the no cd crack break my game?
Or attempting and phailing at thumb3.exe break it?
Is my video card dying?
Or could this have been a one time glitch that will never return?

Has anyone had this happen to them, and how did you fix it?

As one of the least awesome people here, I can only offer my personal experience - I got something similiar, but not quite *that* bad - turns out my videocard driver was SERIOUSLY out of date. Try updating your videocard driver first. Hopefully someone More Awesome will pop along and give you some other advice if this doesn't fix it.

Thanks.  I saved and exited, and re loaded it and played for a just a few minutes and it didn't return.  It was the first time this had happened.  Today I tried putting a different no-cd crack that I found a link to on this site.  Maybe that will help.  I'll go to see what the current video driver for my card is too.  It has been a while since an update, and we've had the card for a few yrs, so I was wondering if it was dying.

Edit:  I went to check which driver I had, and I noticed that the color setting was too low, so I fixed that.
