INSTRUCTIONS:
Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory.

FEATURES:
1. Neighbor behavior in apartments now depends on furniture installed inside
their apartments and common area: Motives restored on going into apartments
depends on what furniture that the neighbors have in there, and neighbors
leaving their apartment will do so to resolve motives based on things
   located in the common area.
2. Neighbors will not suddenly run off for no reason while you are trying to
   interact with them.
3. Neighbors will not emerge and stand around for hours with nothing to do.
4. Rent-payer hour moved to hour that is non-suicidal for vampire tenants.
5. Cash exploit for fixtures removed: You can no longer receive free cash
merely for moving into an apartment and then moving out because you are not
charged for the value of fixtures, but are still credited for them on move
out: Sims must pay an initial deposit equal to the sell value of fixtures
in their apartment, which is returned via the normal move-out process.
6. Option to rent furnished integrated with above: Door will display two
rental prices, the higher deposit value being the furnished price.
7. Going to work/on errands no longer magically restores neighbors. Work motive
drain is equivalent to the normal drain for their particular job and level.
Errands will still restore typical motives, much like your own sims can go
and green on community lots (Gain Hunger/Soc/Fun/etc., energy not so much).
8. Apartments made functional in universities: YAs can now rent apartments and
generated NPC apartment neighbors will spawn as YAs and go to class.
9. Fixed bug where sims were going home into the wrong apartments.
A. Landlord will not host gathering if pizza person does not exist (no spam!),
or if swarm of resulting Zergs exceeds legal visitor max (major lag!).

COMPATIBILITY:
This hack is fully compatible with all FFS hacks. For TS2AL+.

SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death,
and/or halitosis.

WARNING:
Do not open, crush, dispose of in fire, put in backwards, short-circuit, or mix
with non-awesome hacks - may explode, leak, or catch fire, resulting in injury
and/or death.

This is excellent, especially for number eight.  Does anything have to be placed in the apartments, such as the paintings for the Ingelogical version of this hack?

Does this hack affect roommates in any way?

Edit: Thanks for the reply - this hack is truly awesome!

No. Rather than indicating what motives are present in apartments and in the common area, you place the actual motives. It prevents user error and allows the apartments to behave individually rather than globally. So if you want ONE particular sim to NOT COME OUT, you can furnish his apartment with all the things necessary to satisfy everything and thus prevent emergence, while if you want others to be more sociable, place those items in the common area instead.

Ohh, new shiny!

Does this hack affect roommates in any way?
Behavior of roommates has not been extensively examined but some improvements have been incorporated, such as errands no longer refilling every single motive perfectly, causing roommates to react slightly more normally.

Ooooh!  Shiny!   :D

If a Sim rents the apartment in it's furnished state, am I correct in presuming only the initial rent payment is modified, and all subsequent rent payments are at the standard unfurnished rate?

That is what is indicated when you rent on the menu, yes, "Rent Apartment $X + $Y/wk. X must be paid upfront as your security deposit, and you get it back automatically on move-out as part of the usual "autosell all stuff". Rent is per-week and not dependent on any items. You will therefore see two rental prices given when you try to rent. It should be obvious which is which!

Will this make landlords any less stupid?  I can't stand the pizza parties of fail, and the landlord randomly getting stuck in apartments.  If he can't be lobotomised, I'd rather stomp the parties entirely.

Nothing kills a date like bring her home to the hottub and finding the landlord already there...naked.

How does this affect townie-occupied apartments?  Are they assumed to have everything they need in the apartment, only certain things they need, or are they assumed to have rented the apartment furnished with whatever you put in there when you built it?

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 October 23, 01:15:24
Townie apartments are treated as having whatever you had when you built the place. So you should install the basic fixtures needed to satisfy any motive you wish to satisfy in there.

I just installed this hack. My sims live in an apartment. They caught a taxi to their owned business in the same hood. A few hours after their arrival, a landlord appeared and asked if they'd like to choose an apartment. There are no apartment doors on the lot. It is not their regular landlord. I can't make him bugger off, BRY does not appear to see him. I have been playing this lot over several evenings and it has been fine to date.

I strongly suspect this is an unrelated coincidence. More likely the game randomly sent a Landlord NPC to your lot as a visitor, where he is misbehaving. Banish him by deletion if he won't go away. This is an unrelated issue.

I had the same happen before Apartment Hack was made but only on residential lots. Removing the Landlord fixed this.

It is working fine in my game, so something is probably wrong with your process. Elaborate on when it crashes?

mitchellcjs, I can has no premade apartments in uni hood. They don't show.

Pes, I edited residential lot, entered cheat code (changelotzoning apartmentbase) and then pressed load hood. Game crashes.

Is there any chance of depreciating all the items in an apartment prior  to calculating deposit?  I had a CAS Sim who couldn't move into a relatively cheap furnished apartment because the deposit was over 25K.

If  this is already being done, feel free to point and laugh.

Magic Wand? Try wanding your apartment prior to anyone moving in. If it was 25K, it wasn't THAT cheap. And you would have earned an instant 25K just for moving in without this.

But I *LIKE* finals at night. Finals during the day BURNS!

If an auto-finals-schedule *were* available, I think I'd still prefer to use the college clock to control things myself.
Checking the time of finals would need to be done several times, as sending your sim to a community lot or the SS changes uses up some time, and then your return home at the same time you left.  No matter how clever you tried to make the auto-hack, I'm sure there will be times that you curse it coz you were not ready.

That would result in everyone's uni schedules getting desynchronized. Also bad.

Why not make it an option? Choose between "take final at night" and "take final at day". Voilá, fixed.

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 October 26, 16:14:52
Because there's no sensible place to put such a thing? A finals scheduler really has no reason to need to be global, anyway, which means it falls outside the scope of this hack.

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: Crash on 2008 October 26, 17:39:15
Allright, I can see that. An alternative would be to put it in the college clock when you choose 'do finals now'. As far as I know that would make sense. But that doesn't really concern this topic, so never mind.

See, that's the problem. If it's automatic, it will screw up your sync. If it's NOT automatic, it is entirely superfluous because manual buttons already exist.

I installed the apartment hack and moved a CAS Sim into an apartment.  About 20 some days later, I was setting up to move him out and decided to visit another apartment.  The picture tells the story.

My Sim knocked on the door and the femaler Sim peed the moment he walked in.  My Sim influenced her to bathe, and while she was in the shower, fixed some food from her fridge.  After returning from placing his plate on a table somewhere outside (gotta love Sim intelligence) she immediately passed out on the floor.

Apparently the only motive she had in the green when he arrived was social.  I thought the apartment hack was supposed to raise the motives based on what was in the apartment.  I don't see any evidence of this happening.

Is this intended behavior?

I had something similar happen when I first put in apthack.  Once I pulled all non-MATY hacks it stopped occurring, however I didn't bother to find out which hack was the conflict as I found the motive failure too hilarious.

I'll go do more testing now that someone else has had the same problem (and also that I might want apthack to do its job...)

I just remembered something else from the same lot.  I had another tenant apparently returning from work (he was in his work clothes) who peed the moment he appeared on the lot.  I almost never have unselectable Sims peeing.  It's happened maybe 5 times total since I got the game.  Someone wasn't taking a potty break at work.

That should never actually happen, since it's programmed not to drop core motives below a certain minimum. I have not observed this phenomenon in my game at all.

Apparently the only motive she had in the green when he arrived was social.  I thought the apartment hack was supposed to raise the motives based on what was in the apartment.  I don't see any evidence of this happening.

I notice the sim is selectable. If you have tampered with the sim in any way, you may stop it from being refreshed. I am not able to reproduce your results and your apartment LOOKS intact: Note, however, that motive restoration can only happen when the apartment is grayed out. If you trap a sim in its apartment by invading its space, the crappy EAxis AI will eventually do that.

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: Hook on 2008 October 27, 16:24:37
This was the first time I'd ever made this Sim selectable, and the first time I'd ever visited inside her apartment.  I did invite her out once several days before, and had the option to "cheer up".  I did not make her selectable at that time.  When I visited this time, she peed herself and passed out before I ever made her selectable, so two motives were crashed before I ever looked at her stats.

My playable Sim had 4 days left as an adult, so I guess I played him for 25 days, all on the same version of the apartment hack.  I took the hack out, checked to see if it made any difference and there was a reset of some kind.  I got a message about visitors from the apartment come to greet me, and the other tenants' motives were all maxed.  I quit without saving, put the hack back in, and got the same message and tenant motive reset.

I had a roommate for a couple of weeks when the hack was in and had no problems with her motives at all.  That part of the hack seems to be working quite well.  I'd never tried a roommate before that, so I don't know what they're like unhacked.

I think I know what the problem was.

A week or two prior to this visit, I had errors from the apartment resident controller.  I reset the controller something like 40 times and it kept erroring again instantly.  I eventually clicked on delete.  I'm going to guess that without the resident controller, none of the residents were able to green their motives.

Is there any way that instead of having a deposit and refund of existing fixtures in an apartment, instead there is no refund on anything upon move out? Moving sims out of an apartment does not delete the pre-existing items from it, even if they are being credited for resell value, so I'd rather they get no refunds at all. And, anything they lose because they were stupid and left it behind was clearly sold and profited the owner of the apartments (since it would likely not remain next time the apartment is rented, either).

No. This aspect of the game is hardcoded. Furthermore, you could manually delete these items, either to upgrade them, or to sell them, and receive the bonus cash even without moving out.

The act of moving a sim out of an apartment is complicated. It *DOES* in fact, delete the pre-existing items, in the sense that the entire "parallel bubble universe" is destroyed.

And, anything they lose because they were stupid and left it behind was clearly sold and profited the owner of the apartments (since it would likely not remain next time the apartment is rented, either).
Or it was sold, you know, for cash. Because it's credited to their move-out.

Well, if the selling of the objects in the apartment is hardcoded, and therefore unchangable, then of course the rest of the thought process becomes invalid, heh.

I am attempting to split this hack into two packages, one which will have just the stuff that enables apartment living for students in Uni.  This is with a view of enabling players to enjoy the Uni apartment side of things if they prefer to have my apartment fixes suite rather than yours for any reason.

So I have included all 4 of the group 0x7F17E3A4 resources, all 3 group 0x7F028F29 resources, and "Sub - Find a Homeless nID in Temp 0"

In testing, I find the correct agegroup of sim being spawned as neighbors and roommates, even though the roommate claimed to be an architect when listed, but had become a student when he moved in.  My playable sim and his roommate are prompted to go to class at the right time.   However, the not-in-play-but-playable neighbor is not going to class.  Also, how come all the inhabitants of the 9-room ex-dorm are the same sex?  Is that by design?  It hasn't happened to me before.

I will keep that in mind. I'm still tweaking that feature in an attempt to make it work.

It's not quite a "design", more of a peculiar interaction in how townie genders are chosen. I have a prototype of this that I gave to Fat Gwilly People, but haven't really heard back on it.

So, does leaving the TwoJeffs college hacks in only break Uni apartments (which I didn't plan to use anyway,) or is it going to cause a BFBVFS with everything else too? I'm trying to figure out why my landlord is just wandering around my Sim's mobile home, interacting with their objects and bothering the baby and occasionally pacing around the bathroom for no reason, after my Sim said goodbye to him ("everyone," actually) and he became un-interact-able. I ended up quitting without saving, but I'd like to stop that before it happens again.

It's definitely the 12/14 version, I made sure to check before posting. So the error is still occurring for me in the latest version with going to finals only.

Then it's tight pants -- something else in your game is causing the problem, because the 12/14 version causes no errors in a regular uni.  I suspect the problem lies with the hack you use to have them go to uni from the normal hood, in which case Pescado will probably tell you to take the other hack out.

Hmm. I have the current version, I don't have that other hack, and I'm also getting the error.  ???  I haven't done a binary search yet, but there aren't any obvious conflicts according to HCDU. I'm not able to work on it now, but I'll look into it tomorrow.

EDIT: All righty... generated a fresh The Sims 2 folder and emptied out my Catalog\Bins and Overrides folders, just to be on the safe side. Downloaded a fresh copy of the DC to ensure I have the most recent version of hacks. Created a new YA sim and plopped her in one of the ALT dorms.

Loaded only my usual suite of Awesomeware, including apthack: error at final exam time. Loaded zero hacks: no error. Added just apthack: error.

I'm not sure if this is new information, but I noticed in my regular game that the error only pops up once per major. I had a lot with two sims in the Mathematics major, and only received one error. On a lot with four sims with different majors, I got four errors.

I've attached the error log from the last test with only apthack loaded, just in case it's useful.

I built an apartment lot that is 3 detached houses, to be occupied by playables.  The houses are complete - each one contains everything a playable household would need, apart from a few skilling items that are only to be found in the community area.  The idea was to be a cross between a residential lot and a kind of mini-community lot.

I was hoping to see kids from neighbouring houses coming out to use the playground and meet each other, and to see the occasional (or not so occasional) fight between feuding neighbours.  For example, I put the Monty family in house A, the Capps in house B.  When I play house C, I want to see Mercutio and Tybalt outdoors fighting sometimes.

With this hack in, given they are complete houses with something to satisfy every need, I never see the neighbours except on Saturday (when everyone 6+ comes out, assuming they're not at work) and Monday night (when all the 12+ sims emerge to pay the rent).  What I'd like to see is a percentage chance of the neighbours coming outside even if they can satisfy every need within their own apartment, rather than a binary "yes they're all coming outside because there's no fun/bathroom/food inside" or "no they're not coming outside at all unless it's Saturday/Monday".

I could just take the hack out, but I like some of it's other features (deposit, uni apartments).

I'm not really satisfied with all "features" of this hack. I appreciate apartments as a possibility for graduates to have their own home which they can afford. Now, as they have to pay an initial price, they can't afford even the cheapest apartment on the trailer lot - and so do other poor sims. (I play with no20khandouts). Could the apthack possibly be modified to solve this or do I have to take it out of Downloads every time I want another sim to move into an apartment?

I suggest magicwanding the affected lots before moving people in. That tends to help a lot. There is no "solution" for this, since not including this negates the entire point of apartments and turns it into a free source of massive amounts of money. Without it, you will actually earn money for moving out, often a LOT of money, on furnished apartments. This therefore cannot be removed as it is necessary to close a massive exploit that renders the entire apartment thing moot.

There are innumerable ways to cheat sims some money, why not use them?  In fact, you could familyfund your college grads exactly the amount of the security deposit, if you wanted.

On the other hand, there are a paltry number of hacks which take money out of sims' pockets.  I like the features the way they are.  My college grads put up with roommates and max out their credit cards to pay the rent until they get real jobs, just like in real life. ;D

Why should using cheats to get my sims more money be better than make use of the apartment exploit? No way. I'll find out what the magicwand thing is, and if I don't like it, I'll go for apthack in-and-out. Which, in fact, is using the exploit, just in an uncomfortable way. Because I like the other features of this hack. So why not put the exploit fix into an extra fix, so everyone could decide for themselves if they want to fix it. I for one, don't move into an apartment because I think "OH, my sims get a lot of money when they move out". I want them to live there, that's the fun.

Wut?  Do whatever the fuck you want, it's your game.

Just don't come on here expecting hacks to change for your benefit.  JMP only cares whether he wishes to use the apt exploit.  All his hacks come in one version only: the version he uses.  It's beautiful in its simplicity.

The wand trick isn't a cash exploit because it does not give free cash, and occurs naturally as a part of normal gameplay. You don't get extra cash back as a result. The magic wand simply sets all the items to their "used" values instead of the new values, so you can buy them "like used". Alternatively, you could take the "unfurnished" route.

The point of the exercise is that you should conciously have to cheat or abuse in order to benefit from an exploit: It should not occur as an effect of naive play. Since getting free money JUST for moving into an apartment, without any concious effort to abuse a cash exploit would violate this premise, I am not going to intentionally leave it enabled since I already had to rewrite this code to make it work: If you want to cheat for cash, cheat for cash. Whereas doing something like the "million dollar reporter trap" essentially represents a deliberate, concious effort to exploit the game's foibles, the mere act of MOVING INTO AN APARTMENT AS INTENDED does not, and therefore, should not automatically include a free(and unavoidable) cash exploit. If you want the resulting fixed prices to be both more reasonable and free of a magic cash exploit, wand the lot prior to move-in so that the furniture in the apartment will be "used", as is typical of apartment furniture. In a "like used" state, a modestly furnished apartment involves a deposit of only a few thousand, already less than if you were to, say, play the game totally EAxis-straight and move into a completely unfurnished apartment (only to them immediately have to redo the furniture you already place, annoying!).

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 December 30, 17:28:18
No. The shift-click function was taken over by the rent-furnished function. Now there is no inherent cheat involved, merely a saving of player effort...because, honestly, if we furnish something, we kinda want it that way.

I've had this happen, several times, in more than one apt - non-hacked, I might add.  Got so fed up with it I moved my payable(s) out to a house!

That is quite odd. I am not able to reproduce it, but I suspect it is because the sim is not properly inside its hole. Check things like the BRY to make sure it has properly returned to its apartment, and isn't simply "stuck".

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: GypsyKate on 2009 January 01, 18:32:24
That would seem to make sense as, when it has happened, those Sims have not emerged to go to work or mill around the communal areas.  Neither have they been contactable on the phone.  I tried force error to no avail.   Sorry, but I have no idea what BRY means.   ???

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!

BRY = Business Runs You.
Did you know there is a shiny search function on this forum? ::)

It has a function Make Bugger Off... which will give you options on sims that are seen as being on the lot.  If you can't call a neighbour, then it means that the game sees them as being in the communal area, rather than being properly in its apartment hole.  If the neighbour isn't properly stowed away, then the hack doesn't refresh their motives.

Though I haven't experienced this particular problem, I assume that firing the BRY option will force them out of neverland, so that they're either in the communal areas, or properly stowed away.

I have a question about the rent furnished feature - my sim rented an apartment with nothing preset in it except build mode items, bathroom fixtures, refrigerator, stove, sink, and counters, and there were two rent options when I clicked on the door, one being $2000 more expensive than the other.  I chose the less expensive option, and none of the preset fixtures disappeared.  What does your mod think is worth $2000 that isn't visible in the apartment?

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: rufio on 2009 January 06, 00:03:38
I'm pretty sure there was nothing else there.  I built the thing myself, and specifically made it so that it wouldn't have extraneous furniture that would get deleted on move-in.  Also, I have TJ's hack that makes the wall hangings visible even when the walls are down.

ETA:  I forgot to mention, said apartment also threw errors like this repeatedly, I think probably one per townie apartment occupant.

My apartment sims' neighbors will not visit after accepting the invitation by phone when this hack is installed.

I have to admit that I downloaded and installed the EA patch for Apartment Life.  Perhaps this is the conflict.

Well, there's nothing I can think of in apthack that has anything to do with phone behavior, so I'm inclined to suspect it is coincidence, or an artifact of resettage caused by yanking. To test if a sim is even functioning correctly, try shiftclicking on its door and choosing Force Out.

(I was directed to post this by Kokopelli, so if you have problems with it, go shoot her)

So, I got Apartment Life. Yeah, yeah. Slowpoke.jpg and all that. I had my reasons. They suck but they are reasons.

I started playing with the apartments, and got confused right away because... well... when I click on a door, I get three options, not two. Kokopelli and I argued back and forth about this -- she thought I couldn't understand why different apartments had different prices, while I kept trying to tell her I was talking about a single apartment -- until I finally took a screencap to show her what the hell I meant. Turns out this ain't normal (at least, she's never seen it)

This is probably just a dumb annoyance, but it IS an annoyance. Why are there two rent prices? The rent itself doesn't change, but why is the down payment different? One is 6755 to the other's 10194. That's nearly 3500 simoleons different. Quite a chunk. That's not renting it furnished, is it? (And if it is, why doesn't it say "rent furnished"?) Is this a hack that didn't get properly updated that I didn't know about? I have way too many hacks (and yes, sadly, many of them are Not Awesome. orz)

I have all EPs and all SPs now. (That includes M&G.) And I removed the Insimenator before playing AL, though I think it was still present within the Downloads folder at the time that I installed the expansion. (I can't imagine that that had anything to do with it, but...)

I downloaded this hack last night and played for a bit. I noticed that my YA sims will not go to class or their final exam on their own. I have had to keep track with who goes to class at what time. I have also noticed that the apartment neighbors are not young adults, but in fact social group townies. Also the landlord showed up to work, then after work went to the Mahjong table and never left after that! so he is still at the Mahjong table with a couple of other sims. Everything else is working perfectly. One more thing, there are neighborhood stray pet walking by the apartment, but a small inconvenience for such a wonderful hack!! Can we fix the YA sims not going to class on their own?

Is it all sims or just in a specific dorm/lot? I was having this problem too and did a binary search, where I couldn't find a culprit. I played another lot that wasn't a dorm and they worked fine. I had downloaded the dorm, so I decided to package and reinstall it to make sure it was a clean lot. There was a couple of mailbox recolors and the line controller in the lot. I must have missed cleaning them out when I installed. After I removed them, my sims got the proper class and exam pop-ups.

I don't know if it was the recolors or the line controller, but I would double check that you didn't pick something up from a downloaded lot.

Yes the apartment is in a UNI neighborhood. How I got the apartment in the UNI hood was I placed an apartment lot in Belladonna Cove, then I changed it to a residential lot, then put it back into the Lots and Houses Bin. After I did that I loaded the UNI hood, then I placed the apartment in the UNI hood, changed it back into an apartment. Exited and then reload the lot, moved the UNI students in. everything else works fine except they get no popups to go to class. I haven't checked to see if Free will is on or off, but they do do things autonomously. So I figured that free will must be on if they do that.

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2009 February 26, 03:25:32
I am pretty sure placing it in a normal hood first will bork the controllers. THe lot must be built ON Uni, otherwise the Uni controller will have self-destructed. This is a known, extremely common glitch that has existed since Uni: Any lot built at a Uni must remain there, and vice versa.

Title: Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People!
Post by: seelindarun on 2009 February 27, 00:08:30
No.  Or maybe it would work if the lot had originally been built on a Uni lot.  I've imported my own lots, which aren't originally built from an empty lot in a uni 'hood, and the class dialogs got lost.

On the bright side, so far I've always been able to get them back by editing the lot and saving a second time.  That is, put down the lot in uni as a residential.  Change the lot zoning, save and exit.  Enter again, make a change, save and exit.  The second save (or move-out/move-in) revives the controllers for dorms and rentals.  I built my uni apartments in situ, to avoid the potential borkiness, so I'm not sure it will work for apartments.

Sounds like you mean "No, they are not ok in Uni subhoods", rather than "No, this doesn't include lots imported via Sims2Pack"?

Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2009 February 27, 05:06:13
How you import the lot doesn't matter, it's all based on where the lot was originally built. For lots built by unknown third parties, however, there is no way to tell. I may consider writing a Lot Debugger Fix for this. However, I don't have a lot of test cases, as I am not in the habit of importing lots, mostly because people who build lots often suck at it.

so should I delete the lot? what if I take a dorm, and change it into a apartment? will that work? maybe I should place the lot in a UNI hood as a residential lot, then change it into an apartment, will that still make the class dialogs not work? I  have no idea how to build an apartment, that is why I imported a lot from another site.

Just knocking on an apartment door and asking them to come out doesn't have the same effect as calling and having them actually visit. It's what I've been doing, though, because all this time I thought getting stood up by apartment neighbors was another EAxis bit of stupidity...lol. But I have just discovered the problem is the apt hack as well. The also don't come to birthday parties, etc when invited. Since I see the issue has been reported and ignored, I suppose it isn't going to get fixed, so I'll either settle for not inviting my apt neighbors on the phone, or I'll live without the apt hack, although I don't like that option very much.  :'(

Have you ever noticed that developers forgot to include TEMPERATURE to be restored inside their appartment?
Frozen sims are still frozen after getting out.

But of course this mod forces tenants to stay home almost all time (if you firnish their flats with some entertainments) so it does not matter if I use this mod now.

The reason it's done this way is to avoid localization issues. If I wanted to make it SAY "Rent Furnished", I would have to actually do translations. Whereas I was able to splice the number into all the localizations without problem.

Well, sure, that's a bad thing? You have any idea how much LAG it causes when they cluelessly pop out of their apartments for no other reason than BECAUSE THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR DECIDED TO BOOT THEM OUT, and then proceed to wander around outside complaining because the outside did not, in fact, offer them anything of use?

You have any idea how much LAG it causes when they cluelessly pop out of their apartments for no other reason than BECAUSE THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR DECIDED TO BOOT THEM OUT, and then proceed to wander around outside complaining because the outside did not, in fact, offer them anything of use?

And if you do have anything in the common areas that advertises fun, all the renties will bogart that one thing, leaving the rest of the lot empty.  My renties do nothing but go to work and play poker, it would seem.  My playable sim had to beat up the neighbour (in the neighbour's living room) just to meet the blighter.

That is pretty much true of advertisement objects anywhere: The dominant object will trump all the others.

I see
Another fun dominants are swings and darned darts. I had to change their ad to make them "bogartless"

I noticed that one living-alone NPC tenant gets out (with your mod) because his social's falling down, so it's works in this way as well. :)

Fry me later for grave-digging, but I'm having an issue with this specific hack and I've removed every single piece of custom content to make sure it wasn't some conflict. I'd really appreciate some help with getting things to work again.

Despite having fully furnished apartments, my NPC neighbours keep coming out of their places at 6am to stand on their porch, hang around, return to their apartments, then come out again. This process repeats throughout the day, except when they leave for work or retire for the night at around 11pm.  This hack -did- work perfectly when I first installed it, even with all my CC and other hacks. Neighbours remained in their homes unless they had to leave for work, and everything worked as described. At some point, it turned into this problem where they're always coming in and out and it's driving me batty (and lagging my game).  I'm not sure what else to do: I've removed everything from the common area, made sure their apartments have everything they could possibly need, tried a reset/delete on them, and finally removed all my CC & hacks in case I'd added something new.

I'm really not sure why it was working before and suddenly stopped, but has anyone got any ideas/suggestions/solutions?

Never seen anything like this.

I must have made a neighbour selectable or something else that caused things to break. I replaced the hood with a backup and played for a few RL days, trying a variety of regular in-game things to try and replicate the original problem, and the hack is back to working perfectly. :)

My thread here http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17446.0.html were locked, but it might be more appropiate to post here anyway.
I downloaded the fixes from the al hack index this time - these:
alfixes
creaturefixes
dramafix
ffsdebugger
fishandharvestfix
ftminifixes
nocorruptdeath
nolinkondelete
ofbfixes
orchardtreefix
snsnpcslotfix
stuckobjremover
vacationfixes
winterflowerfix
woohooltwfix

and the problem re-appear, so I have now tested it, by taking one fix out at the time. It seems that it is the alfixes that creates the problem. I have also tested with alfixes alone. Without alfixes the love letters goes to the inventory, with alfixes the love letters dissapear.

HCDU detect conflicts with Inge's AL fixes (14 conflicts).

Well, yes.  Inge's mod changes the same things that apthack does, only in different ways.  You cannot have the game apply two different sets of logic at the same time, so you have to pick one and not install the other.
