Title: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: vecki on 2008 September 18, 23:54:06 With space being more of an issue in AL, I was wondering if some of the standard hacks which go on all of my lots (batbox, lot timer, clothing tool) can be shrunk down a little? Perhaps to things that can hang on walls (e.g. a clock for the lot timer, a bat painting)?
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: morriganrant on 2008 September 19, 04:05:03 There are instructions on how to do that around here somewhere. I think that the example was turning the lot debugger into a small vase. Maybe someone with a better memory knows which thread it was in.
Edit: Found it. (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,10943.0.html) Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Assmitten on 2008 September 19, 04:36:56 Why not bury them?
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: vecki on 2008 September 19, 04:42:39 In an apartment, that's a little hard to do.
edit - I just read morrigan's post Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Assmitten on 2008 September 19, 04:53:39 Ah, no basements, then? Where do you keep the creepy laundry room that eats your quarters?
Well, good luck. Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 19, 05:11:16 Using OSMPs, you can tuck them into a small space. Behind stairs is a good hidey spot. BRY does raise and lower with AL. FEY should as well.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: vecki on 2008 September 19, 05:15:15 Sorry Zazazu, but what?
OSMP (nope, still stumped)? BRY (edit: aahh, Business Runs You)? FEY (edit: Food Eats You - heh, didn't even notice that one)? /me is off to search Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Emma on 2008 September 19, 05:25:51 Zazazu means OMSPs. One More Slot Packages. It means by using these (made by Lord Darcy right here in this very site!) you can put stuff on things, such as on top of dressers, all grouped together on a coffee table, etc, etc.
I might try and do some conversions later...if I don't get scared that I will screw something up :D [Edit] Oh yeah...you can't share if Pescado keeps updating his hacks. Darn. You'll have to do it yourself. Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: spaceface on 2008 September 19, 08:31:44 In the pre-built occupied apartments, I have been using moveobjects_on to hide the Batbox in the corner of each kitchen under the counter. A tiny bit of it sticks out, enough to be clickable and not enough to be distracting.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: jsalemi on 2008 September 19, 12:37:32 That's a great idea! I never thought of hiding them inside something else.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Inge on 2008 September 19, 13:44:51 Set snap to grid false and move_objects on, then you can slide them into the wall etc just as far as you want.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 19, 15:27:45 Sorry Zazazu, but what? Tee hee, my evil plan to confuse you was successful. In short, what Emma said. If I actually play tonight (after work stuff going on, plus I'm in the middle of Spore obsession) I'll take a pic of what I do with houses that don't have foundations. OSMP (nope, still stumped)? BRY (edit: aahh, Business Runs You)? FEY (edit: Food Eats You - heh, didn't even notice that one)? /me is off to search Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Lerf on 2008 September 19, 18:18:10 I usually just put them in the foundation, even in occupied apartments they're still clickable. Lotsynctimer--that's trickier. Is it possible to change the appearance of that one? It looks really strange with artdeco decor.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: buddha pest on 2008 September 19, 19:41:30 I put the Lot Sync Timer in the "attic," meaning under the roof, regardless of if there are floor tiles up there or not.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: jsalemi on 2008 September 19, 22:06:19 I put the Lot Sync Timer in the "attic," meaning under the roof, regardless of if there are floor tiles up there or not. Not an option in an apartment, which is what we're discussing. Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: GayJohnScarritt on 2008 September 20, 08:47:25 Pescado made a comment on #grah about putting all those objects on the lot before converting to apt. That way each household can use them. Not sure if the Lot Sync Timer is 'sharable', but it should be. They'd be the same as my community gardens (harvestable plants only show up for the household who actually plants it, so one family could have all tomatoes, the next could have all Egg Plants, on the same garden plot).
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 September 20, 09:23:15 Good places to store the Batbox and Sergeant Box are under ponds, foundations, roofs, stairs, the Uni countertop, the garage, and, if all else fails, behind the back of the building.
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Inge on 2008 September 20, 10:29:30 At least with these you can spot them instantly. You don't find yourself thinking "Hmm now just *which* of these blue hydrangeas should I click now...?"
Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: jsalemi on 2008 September 20, 14:17:14 Pescado made a comment on #grah about putting all those objects on the lot before converting to apt. I guess you could do the same thing on an empty apartment lot, too, since buy mode is available (or easily made available if it's not). Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Lerf on 2008 September 20, 17:56:39 At least with these you can spot them instantly. You don't find yourself thinking "Hmm now just *which* of these blue hydrangeas should I click now...?" I used to have that problem with the "Stay Things" shrub and the teleporter shrub. At least with the cat teleporter I only have one possible shrub to look for. OTOH it blends in with most decor. (And since AL I don't have the "ST" shrub at all. Unless it's been updated for AL, I suppose I should wander over and look.) Title: Re: Shrinkify some of the hacks, plz? Post by: Inge on 2008 September 20, 18:08:48 It didn't seem to need updating :)
