More Awesome Than You!

With space being more of an issue in AL, I was wondering if some of the standard hacks which go on all of my lots (batbox, lot timer, clothing tool) can be shrunk down a little?  Perhaps to things that can hang on walls (e.g. a clock for the lot timer, a bat painting)?

There are instructions on how to do that around here somewhere. I think that the example was turning the lot debugger into a small vase. Maybe someone with a better memory knows which thread it was in.

Why not bury them?

In an apartment, that's a little hard to do.

Using OSMPs, you can tuck them into a small space. Behind stairs is a good hidey spot. BRY does raise and lower with AL. FEY should as well.

Zazazu means OMSPs. One More Slot Packages. It means by using these (made by Lord Darcy right here in this very site!) you can put stuff on things, such as on top of dressers, all grouped together on a coffee table, etc, etc.

I might try and do some conversions later...if I don't get scared that I will screw something up :D

In the pre-built occupied apartments, I have been using moveobjects_on to hide the Batbox in the corner of each kitchen under the counter. A tiny bit of it sticks out, enough to be clickable and not enough to be distracting.

That's a great idea!  I never thought of hiding them inside something else. 

Set snap to grid false and move_objects on, then you can slide them into the wall etc just as far as you want.

Tee hee, my evil plan to confuse you was successful. In short, what Emma said. If I actually play tonight (after work stuff going on, plus I'm in the middle of Spore obsession) I'll take a pic of what I do with houses that don't have foundations.

I usually just put them in the foundation, even in occupied apartments they're still clickable.  Lotsynctimer--that's trickier.   Is it possible to change the appearance of that one?  It looks really strange with artdeco decor.

I put the Lot Sync Timer in the "attic," meaning under the roof, regardless of if there are floor tiles up there or not.

Not an option in an apartment, which is what we're discussing.

Pescado made a comment on #grah about putting all those objects on the lot before converting to apt.  That way each household can use them.  Not sure if the Lot Sync Timer is 'sharable', but it should be.  They'd be the same as my community gardens (harvestable plants only show up for the household who actually plants it, so one family could have all tomatoes, the next could have all Egg Plants, on the same garden plot).

Good places to store the Batbox and Sergeant Box are under ponds, foundations, roofs, stairs, the Uni countertop, the garage, and, if all else fails, behind the back of the building.

At least with these you can spot them instantly.  You don't find yourself thinking "Hmm now just *which* of these blue hydrangeas should I click now...?"

I guess you could do the same thing on an empty apartment lot, too, since buy mode is available (or easily made available if it's not).

I used to have that problem with the "Stay Things" shrub and the teleporter shrub.  At least with the cat teleporter I only have one possible shrub to look for.  OTOH it blends in with most decor.  (And since AL I don't have the "ST" shrub at all.  Unless it's been updated for AL,  I suppose I should wander over and look.)

It didn't seem to need updating :)
