Another good modder joins JMP and 2Jeffs.  Now if Dizzy2 starts posting his stuff here, I can delete another website link from my bookmarks.

I was so excited to see Crammyboy posting his mod here!

He always posted here and he's put at least one hack up as an attachment too (well a modified Pescado one anyhow). I don't think he's officially part of the moreawesomethanyou either, just relegated to the peasantry like the rest of us. LOL

Yeah the last thing I personally want to see is yet one more MTS2 or VS like conglomerate to start playing tug of war with the creator pool.   Two resident contributors is a site, more is an army.  IMHO only of course.

It costs less than a round of drinks per month to start your own site, where you'll never ever have to move due to fighting with the admins.

Edit: Oops I had better add, this is *not* intended to be a personal dig at Crammyboy in any way!

Edit again:  Ignore the above, it's too late.  Welcome Crammyboy :)

Nah.

She's cool ;D

Nice to see you all getting along so well!

And if you can't afford a round of drinks per month, there's always Yahoo - but DON'T use the word "hack" it's totally offensive to someone there!

For what it's worth, I wasn't trying to turn this place into a big multi-contributor site by posting my elder clothing mod after which Pescado created the Peasantry section (which I didn't ask him to but is probably a good idea). I don't want to be an official contributor here, but this is the place where I hang out the most and I don't have time anymore to keep up with a lot of places and most of the major sites I find distasteful anyhow.

I actually have had a site in the past and I have friends who'd give me all the server space and bandwidth I want, but I just don't really have the time or inclination to make and upkeep a site right now. I suppose I could do the board thing, but I think it's good to have files where people hang out and it's hard to keep up with a lot of different boards and be a regular with them.

I just wanted a place to stash some of my stuff and that works for me if we have a sort of etc place for that. Hairfish has also been kind enough to mirror the file and I have no problems with people reposting it elsewhere. It's funny, because in the Morrowind Community people were always glad to have their files hosted on multiple spots and have mirrors. It saved on bandwidth and gave an alternative if one site was down. Most Morrowind mods were hosted on several sites. I know mine were and still are. In this community everyone is so possesive and so worried about making a name for themselves and their sites though to do this in most cases. :P

And, Pescado, that now makes it more important than ever to have that coding forum, because if I want to see advice from a modder I would want to ask all three of the forum owners here, not have to choose between which of their forums to clutter up :)

Not going to make any penis jokes, or any other for that matter.  Crammyboy only lives down the road from me and I don't know how big he is (HIM, not his penis).

Talking of that penis mod, any chance of a vampire skin being added?  I haven't worked-out how to add my own and currently my vamps are walking around with the default under User 1, which means their willies are sort of luminous grey (I think it's the zombie one or something).  They look very peculiar whatever it is.

Three forum owners? There's Pescado and TwoJeffs but who else? Did I miss someone?

And I wouldn't mind moving my tutorials to a coding/technical talk forum if everyone else thinks that's appropriate.

Heh, we're not playing tug-of-war with the creator pool. This isn't a prison, and I'm not going to pull a Rentech if someone wants to start their own site....well, okay, maybe it is, but it's a prison with no walls....and no toilet!

I do not mind how many creators are here, within reason, as long as I can keep track of things...

I am just afraid that the creator may start to fight amongst themselves and then leave we have to follow them to another site like the sheep we are... :-/

But I am not foreseeing that as Papa Pescado runs a fairly mild regime--errr, forum. Despite the frequent threats of bodily harm.

I like it here. Smart people and good topics of conversation. :-)

MATY is the first place I read when I get online.. and the last before I log-off!  The forum is easy to navigate and the level of discourse is high enough to keep me coming back for more.

I am glad to be here for three reasons.

1) I can keep all my stuff in one place. This means you will be able to find updates easier.
2) I don't have to jump around sites as much looking for stuff, and neither do you.
3) I now have two MASTER modders living next door  ;D. Great for getting help.

Besides, I would never create my own website. I don't have the patience.

Peasantry is for tutorials and actual downloads. If you have your own site, then you don't need our space. :P

It's pointless to request skins or decorations here. Nobody makes that sort of thing here. The bulk of requests and other whatnot, however, are Podium-material.

What I meant was.. Is peasantry a better spot for socializing and sharing then the Podium. To me the Podium seems a place to come and ask for help/ share a glitch rather than say my sharing a cloud of butterflies. I would create a post over in Peasantry saying "anyone want butterflies?" and the actual download comes from my site .. in the interest of saving you bandwidth/file storage. But if you want to be generous enough to host the file(s).. great!

I guess I just find MATY like a home away from home.. I like the twisted minds that post here.  I also appreciate all the mod goodness that was here and has since grown!

I'd like to be a part of it without being in the way.  I'm not a sheep.. I found this forum through the Sims newsgroup.. and this forum is so much more like USENET (where I feel comfortable) than any other sims forum I've come across. Grownups talking to grownups.  With the occasional noogie thrown in.

Umm.. skins are being offerred up in a thread on this forum (alien ones).. I just thought a specific place where that kind of stuff would be acceptable and not interfere with behav mods would be <don't rip my lips, please> nice. And I bet there are a ton of modders reading this forum.. between the VS debacle and before the CEP debacle.. throw in the BBS and you have a lot of people who want to be a part of the Awesomest forum(s) on the net.

But if decorations and skins are not the kind of thing you envision for your site.. I understand!

Just wanted to add my welcome as well. This site just gets more awesomer and awesomer by the minute. :)

And I concur, if dizzy2 makes the move over here, then I am mostly set for going to just one place to get my hacks. Lol.  ;D

Well, I still do have a few miscellaneous hacks here and there, and MTS2 is still a good place to go for up and coming, new modders. I mean, if it weren't for that, I wouldn't have known any of these modders in the first place. :) But its nice to see all the great modders graduate to their own space, and MTS2 is getting a bit cluttered.

If dizzy2 does take up residence here as well, I would hope that would be about the last of it, unless we get yet another really excellent modder. But I do agree with Inge a bit in that I wouldn't want to see this place grow too big for its britches. I like the small, comfy atmosphere thus far. And although MTS2 and VS are/were great for the conglomerates that they are, and for providing such a vast amount of custom content, I wouldn't want MATY to get too "cluttered" so to speak. 2 is usually always better than one, and who doesn't love a threesome. ;) A foursome could be interesting fun, but any more and you're starting to get out of control, bordering on orgy. :P And although I am a bit curious, that's on a whole other level and a whole other story.  ::)

Post by: Oddysey on 2005 November 06, 01:36:10
Wooh! Crammyboy is here! He actually has a home now, instead of just sleeping on MTS2's porch.  ;)

I like the idea of this site being the go-to place for global game modification type stuff. (And I personally think that the alien/vampire replacements fall under that category, but whatever.) MTS2 is a bit too anarchic to be a really useful development environment, and VS is both a little more focused on general hacking of the game and pushing the envelope on content creation techniques, as well as just having too much drama to be truly Awesome.

The one idea that I have, too keep things here from going too VS and fragmenting into a bunch of mini sites, is to keep discussions of the game and of hacking mostly in the Podium, the War Room, and Peasantry. At least for now, I don't think that individual modder discusion forums are necessary, and I don't think they'd be a good idea. It's a simple point, but I think that feature of this site goes a long way towards encouraging cohesion and cooperation.

Anyhow. Now we have three modders to annoy! Yay!

Even without the drama, the big problem with VS is the seemingly-infinite number of forums. Too much choice is a bad thing. You're left completely uncertain where to post to make sure the right people see it.

Right now, MATY is not broken. There's a sensible number of forums and it's easy to navigate. Retardo Land is scary, but *shrug*. Whatever. The only forum that's actually missing is a technical hacking discussion forum, and people have already whined about that (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=1256.0). The old adage that if it ain't broke, don't fix it really must apply.

I'm still insanely amused by the conversation from much earlier on in the thread:

MutantBunny: CrammyBoy! yay! Did you bring your penis?

Inge: One would hope it forms part of his normal anatomy and accompanies him wherever...

what I do is remove the down load of the censor blur removal patch for NL when my grandkids are around. so my correct sims go back to being blurred
Bangelnuts, I didn't realize you were old enough to have grandkids. :)
I am 43 and I have 2 granddaughters and a 3rd granddaughter due in January. they are 3 and 21 months old

Oops I'm a bit late to the party... got distracted playing in RL... ::) like a toddler in the toilet.

Yay!  Another modder joins the family.  I'm not terribly familiar with crammyboy's work but have heard only glowing reports.  And from what I've seen in his forums, I'm gonna be adding to the users doing the glowing. ;D
