Title: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Ambular on 2008 August 30, 03:48:13 Well, once again it's that time when we all run around kermitflailing about all the mods by vanished creators that have been broken by the new EP.
I'll start the ball rolling by listing those abandonated mods in my downloads (see attachment) that hackdiff indicates may need an update. Please note that these all appeared to work properly with Free Time, and as far as I know they are the most recent versions that have been released. ***ETA: I knew I forgot something when I made this post. If you check your own downloaded mods using hackdiff, as of the last concrete information I was able to pry out of Pescado, it's usually safe to ignore certain items that turn up as needing updates if ALL of the following are true: 1. The only errors returned are of the "name unsupported" type; AND 2. None of the instances listed are 0x12F, 0x130, or 0x12D; AND 3. The mod appears to work correctly in the game and not break anything else. This may be subject to revision, since I received this information a couple of EP's back. But since all I can currently get Pescado to say on the subject is "It's like a sandwich, Ambular," caveat emptor.*** If you have more to add to the list that are either possibly or definitely broken as of AL, please comment below and I'll update as needed. If you know of an update or an alternative to a borked abandoned mod, please mention that too and provide a link. If you are a modder and are willing to check out/update/replace a mod on the list, thank you in advance and please let us know! If a modder on the list is still alive and well and updating their stuff, comment and I will edit this post accordingly. If you have a broken mod and don't know who made it, go ahead and post with the filename (attach if possible) and I'll put it here. Perhaps someone will know the creator and their status. --- Bimbelina (Mmholt) BV-BuildBuyEnabler.package [Black_Spirit] LBF_Biteneck.package Crammyboy CBOY_LessAutonomousFighting.package Jase fewer_bee_swarms.package InTeeenimator and Woohoo Teens - WILL NOT be updated due to hard drive crash. Also, I learned Squinge's PregnancyWearAnyOutfit borks the new closets (thanks to some other posters). Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: fway on 2008 August 30, 05:43:06 I believe BV build/buy enabler was by Carrigon @ The Sims 2 Workshop. *shrugs*
Nukem Wall Speaker Fix.package - by Menaceman44 @ MTS2, you could ask him about it though. ObjectsPetstoFT.package - by Me ... you DO NOT WANT, take it out even if you don't have AL! Lord Darcy said there were certain problems with the Community to Residential items I had made available in the residential catalog. However if somebody wants to make a more awesome version, go right ahead. I failed and deleted the downloads off the face of the earth! I haven't tried getting more Sims in the household yet - there's only six in my testing family. Oh, goody. That's one of those mods that I have, rarely actually use, but would really truly miss. Another is Squinge's PregandServoChangeAppearance. I see that the slightly different version is not ok. This happened last time and I kept using Squinge's hack with no problems. Dizzy's throws errors for me, as it's conflicting silently (as in it doesn't show a conflict in HCDU) with something else.Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: mommytotwo on 2008 August 30, 06:25:45 Unsuprisingly Squinge's IncreasedBills needs updating.
Also his OFB_NoBadSales hack. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: raiu on 2008 August 30, 12:49:17 Simmodder at MTS2 has a higher bills hack here http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=284809&c=1 But I don't think its been tested for AL
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: tizerist on 2008 August 30, 15:22:31 Well the Gunmod camera hack won't allow zoom-out in hood view with AL.
The loss of the other hacks i can temporarily cope with, but not this one. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Lum on 2008 August 30, 15:28:16 What? Gunmod camera? That's working perfectly for me. Mind, I don't have FT, if that means anything to you.

Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: tizerist on 2008 August 30, 17:50:12 Works perfectly for me and I have all EPs and SPs. Hmm, well i transfered my FT camera files over to overwrite the AL ones but if you say its working then it must be.ETA: You know you have to reinstall it every time you install a new EP right? Because the new EP overwrites the old camera files. Try re-downloading it and replacing the files and see if that works. I have uninstalled now though and I loathe to go through all that "creating pets....creating weather" malarkey again Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: sewinglady on 2008 August 30, 18:13:55 I think my only 'abandonated' mod left in my game is crammyboy's 'no computer madness'...and so far, it's still working - but then I have only played for a couple hours with AL installed and not on my custom neighborhood...not gonna lose another one.

Those were the only two (other than a gazillion from TJ's (who had already posted at HIS site that they will need updated) that caught my eye. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Sleepycat on 2008 August 30, 22:26:48
already been updated for AL - at the sims2workshop where her stuff is. edit - Quote Jase fewer_bee_swarms.package teen_sibling_noogie_fix.package Jordi lotfullofsims.package Jase will probably check these at some point, either before or after he updates InTeen. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Kyna on 2008 August 31, 07:46:27
I don't think they're Inge's. She names all her hacks starting with the preface "ij". If they were Inge's they'd be ijAlwaysInsult and ijpokeshoveback. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: ScoobyDoo on 2008 August 31, 09:11:42 Duh moment... I forgot I saved the url for each of them...
Unfornately alwaysinsult and pokeshoveback, which was at insim, is gone. I believe the topic title (which I normally use as the watched package title) was "Always insult when insults" and "Sims always defend yourself" Did Inge put his/her stuff on insim? Anyways, neither of them are really important for me. Althought they're good at making enemies. :) Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: nekonoai on 2008 August 31, 12:23:55 I hope lotfullofsims is updated soon. Marhis - tipjarpickupmod is borked with AL. Just tried it twice...no worky, makes stuck sims. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 01, 03:10:18 Oh goody. Maybe he'll redo the preggo hack. I tried Dizzy's again. I'm not getting errors, but pregnant women have no option to change into regular clothing. Kind of defeats the purpose, you know?
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: notveryawesome on 2008 September 01, 04:11:24 Hmmm, I always had a problem with that hack not allowing me to change a pregnant sim into Everyday clothing using a dresser or armoir. I always had to make her take a shower (or change clothes automagically after making the bed with a 'change automatically after making the bed' hack installed). This is not new problem with AL, AFIAK. That, or I had some sort of hack conflict I wasn't aware of.
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Inge on 2008 September 01, 11:57:18 My more recent stuff all begins ij but I hadn't started doing that to begin with. However, no those aren't mine anyway :)

I'm back to my normal game as I couldn't take it anymore with all cleared hacks plus about In FT, Dizzy's version threw errors for me on sim mouse-over. This is better. *SEDD_BuyMailbox/Trashcan are bad with AL. The mailbox completely overrides the new apartment one. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Firefly on 2008 September 01, 16:23:14 The following Monique mods from MTS may require an update.
MQ_Browse_N_Buy_Faster100.package: may require possible updates: B 0x7F4A60B2 0x1006 Interaction - Browse (No update needed and other versions of this mod should work also.) MQ_No_Autonomous_Play_Swings_Fun_50.package: may require possible updates: B 0x7FF7529C 0x1004 Interaction - Swing MQ_Serve_Count_Hack.package: may require possible updates: B 0x7F8834C8 0x202B Get in Temp 0 - Serve Count The following Monique mod found here in MATY in peasantry updated for FT will probably require an update based on every expansion pack an update was required. MQ_Teleport.package: may require possible updates: (Update required for witch functions) P 0x7F1F956A 0x0080 name unsupported p 0x7F1F956A 0x0080 name unsupported I do not have AL yet to test these four mods, most interested in feedback on MQ_Teleport. I am considering updating it for AL. Update: MQ_Teleport is updated for Apartment Life and available in Peasantry. MQ_Serve_Count is updated for Apartment Life and available in Peasantry. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: sewinglady on 2008 September 01, 16:32:31 Well it looks like I'm running 15 assorted Monique hacks - all are to stop annoying autonomous behaviors - including the Swing thing.
Even WITH that swing hack in game I haven't put a swing on a lot (residential or commerical) in at least 3 expansion packs...I so detest that thing. So far, none of what I'm running from Monique has caused a problem...but again, I've got no swings in game... Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: dragonarts on 2008 September 01, 17:24:08 I don't really understand hackdiff, so I can't tell you exactly what the problem is, and I haven't put them back in the game, but I miss some of Smonaff's potions (from MTS2.) I used to use them with Syberspunk's risky woohoo mod. I had to start taking them out with FT, because of errors, and tried various alternatives, such as ACR, but I wasn't entirely satisfied with those. I'm using Pescado's Director's Cut, so some of these couldn't go back anyway, but I do know they're abandonated, and borked for AL.

Now, he too has a Neukem wall speaker fix. I believe his fixes the wall speaker itself, while Menaceman's simply fixes the description; however, the speaker functions correctly with the right music playing. So, it is the speaker fix by Menaceman44.
I felt like I needed to confirm that. If a file has different contents, it should have a different name to indicate what version it is - IMHO. Also, part of upgrading any software that doesn't come with an auto-installer is to clear out obsolete files. For example, with something like my prison suite, one of the old files might contain overrides to a semiglobal group which in the interests of compatibility I might have decided to abandon in the next release and do a different way. That file would not be present in my updated prison set. If you simply used overwriting of files to update, you would retain the obsolete package and continue to have errors in your game.
So it's better to make the updating a more deliberate process of deleting the old and installing the new from scratch. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: ScoobyDoo on 2008 September 02, 18:47:51 When I release models and game vp files, I usually end the filename with the date.... aka "Mymodel-09-02-08.vp"
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Menaceman on 2008 September 02, 19:49:56 Ok, hello people.
I've just come from testing my Neukem Reggae Wall Speaker catalogue text correction and it still functions with AL installed. It does in my game anyway and I've not had any reports to say otherwise at MTS2. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: BastDawn on 2008 September 03, 01:53:47 I do that too. So it's better to make the updating a more deliberate process of deleting the old and installing the new from scratch. That's fine for a new expansion; everyone should be emptying out their hacks to start with anyhow. But when you have fourteen versions of your personal director's cut for Bon Voyage alone and there's no way to update one hack without downloading them all, it gets a bit tiresome. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Inge on 2008 September 03, 08:30:05 Ok well I don't issue directors' cuts anyway, everything has to be downloaded individually so that discretion can (should) be applied by the user. Doesn't Squinge keep all his seperate too?
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 03, 14:54:23 That he does. He's updated PregWearAllblahblah, which was the #1 hack I was still waiting on. Just have one more of TJ's I need, and I'm waiting for your all-clear on the school system hacks.
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Inge on 2008 September 04, 12:20:38 The school system all said "clean" and it's standalone (and therefore safe) anyway, apart from two considerations.
1. The optional patches - eg for stuff like not complaining about people smelling bad on prison lots, or not reading in bed after lights out. They're probably well out of date now. 2. The institution sign that stops carpool and school bus. Make sure you have the very latest version of that (its on its own page now with a link from the institution page. Follow the instructions for choosing your "plugin" patches to work with it, and if you want either of the two that don't have the A icon on them, the Apartment version of those is in my testing forum. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 04, 15:46:23 Great! I'm not using the school hacks just yet, because for the most part my sims are still lower-middle class and this 'hood has a public school system, but Isabella got a windfall of $75k that she'll be passing on to her kids, all of whom but one rolled great careers. They'll be rolling in it soon enough. Plus, I have one teen who isn't going to college and I always use the school changer to set them to flexi-school for the last three days.
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: bimbelina on 2008 September 08, 19:13:37 If it's the one posted here, I did the build/buy enabler. Unfortunately, I'm not a modder and don't remember what to do to change the hack. If anyone feels like taking it on, go for it.

I was just preparing to make the switch to AL, had fixed all of my Hack folders and was left with this unruly 'Unsupported' folder. Thank goodness for this thread-- I would have borkinated MOST of my lots because there is rarely a lot where I don't have more than eight sims. need updating for AL? Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Angie Baby on 2008 September 18, 13:33:12 Does anyone have an updated alien pregnancy for females mod?
The two unsupported ones I know of are here Smonaff's Alien Pregnancy For Teens Male and Female http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=184470 or almecho's Female/Male Abduction Pregnancy v1.11 (Adults & Teens) - Updated 10/15/5 http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=54848 *I know it was reported that almecho's worked with FT. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: sluggo on 2008 September 18, 23:09:31 Smonaff's works fine for me
Worked 3 times for me, actually Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Angie Baby on 2008 September 19, 20:25:29 Thank you Sluggo. I went ahead and put it in my game. I have Monique's child support mod (AL) and a Multi PT mod and everything seems to be working fine for me too.
All expansions plus FF and GL. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: edalbformat on 2008 October 02, 11:22:45 Eddie (xptl297) is no longer available. All his mods have been updated by another member and are available at Insim. Pets mods are working under AL. Selectable babies has been provoking crashes since FT and was abandoned. SatisfyPlayInBedAnyway is also not fit for AL. Eddie has no intention to update some of his works. Everything that is possible to update is done by DP (also under XPTL name. XPTL297 computer suffered a direct attack that caused the main computer to die hopeless. For this reason, there will be no more "registrations", mainly on sites that requires cookies to allow downloads. All uploads are and will be exclusively at www.insimenator.net

Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Liz on 2008 October 02, 20:44:14 Well, once again it's that time when we all run around kermitflailing... This is officially my favourite new term of the week. :DTitle: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Ambular on 2008 October 02, 20:48:27 Well, once again it's that time when we all run around kermitflailing... This is officially my favourite new term of the week. :DWhat I like about it is it requires absolutely no explanation. XD Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 October 04, 21:55:51 FYI, for those that were complaining about Dizzy's two hacks for preggers wear anything. In the new update, he combined them into one auto-change-and-pregnant-normal. Be sure to delete the two outdated versions.

Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Firefly on 2008 November 03, 16:20:22 I only want you to know that the Create baby with X crib form Monique is working fine for me with AL installed, think is no need for updates. Thanks, I will retest and use the old base game cribs instead of the new cribs and see what happens. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: littleblackdog on 2008 November 09, 17:34:15 I had been using the Sims2living teen woohoo and it was causing my Sims to lose the gestures option in thier interactions.. I went to the sims2living site to update and saw that it is now for donation only :'(
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: littleblackdog on 2008 November 09, 19:04:19 is the one at PMBD current for AL ?? I looked at it and thought it was still the older version
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: littleblackdog on 2008 November 09, 19:13:52 Probably because no one has bought it and donated it. PMBD works on donations not on when things are released. I knew that.. I just was unsure if it was updated to Apartment Life on the PSMBD yet..Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Inge on 2008 November 13, 20:30:21 InTeenimator.
http://www.simbology.com/smf/index.php/topic,1014.msg42495.html#msg42495 Computer crapped on him. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: ingeli on 2008 November 16, 13:23:54 And to add to the list: Christianlov announced on his blog, that he wont update his mods for AL.
Link: http://blog.daum.net/christianlov (http://blog.daum.net/christianlov) All In One NPC works with AL, in normal residences like before, in apartments you need to switch off "pay bills" and also keep the doors to the apartments open if you have AIO on the lot, as they sooo want to clean all the apartments, hehe. If you have different NPC:s in different apartments, neigbbors maids tend to come over and help when you play the other family. CL Nanny works fine in apartments as far as I have seen. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Inge on 2008 November 16, 14:25:54 Good god! He has only just this minute returned, to a huge fanfair! What was that all about?
Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: ingeli on 2008 November 16, 15:19:27 Not that I read Korean that well (or at all, lol), but I guess he is focusing on his uni studies - super highly competitive as they tend to be in countries like South Korea and Japan. But thats just a guess.
He did update the mods last summer, for expansions up to FT. Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: Lord Darcy on 2008 November 17, 13:45:09 Not that I read Korean that well (or at all, lol), but I guess he is focusing on his uni studies - super highly competitive as they tend to be in countries like South Korea and Japan. But thats just a guess. The Korean version of his announcement post (http://blog.daum.net/christianlov/8605603) does not specifically mention anything about uni studies, he just vaguely said that he's busy with RL stuff. If he is a college student, your guess is probably right.Title: Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL Post by: ingeli on 2009 May 08, 16:59:11 Now Christianlov DID update the All-In-One for AL, which I know interests a lot of people, so I defy the scary necromancy warning, and post the link here anyway:
