Title: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: LadyCrimsonSkye on 2008 July 08, 03:13:15 I looked, and tried to find where it shows how to make Sims run in Windows mode, but I fail at searching. Here, any other forum, google. I just suck at it. Please help?
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) Post by: fatkitty on 2008 July 08, 03:21:20 Right click on your desktop shortcut. Then click on properties.
You'll see a "target" line. At the end of the target line add a space and then -w Click apply and ok. Start the game from the shortcut when you want to play. Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) Post by: Invisigoth on 2008 July 08, 03:25:40 This is really, really easy to do actually. Find your latest EP icon on your desktop and right click on it. Select "Properties". Find the spot where it says "Target" and add a space and -w to the end of the target line. It should look like this: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSBin\Sims2EP7.exe" -w
If you need a picture I would be happy to provide you with one. I would also like to mention that this information is contained in our FAQ (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7437.0.html). It might be best to thoroughly read (or if you've read it before, re-read) our FAQ because it contains lots of useful information. And I bet I know why your search didn't work; it's not called "windows mode", it's called "windowed mode". :D ETA: Whoops, fatkitty beat me to it. I'll let my post stand because the additional information I provided (FAQ link, windows/windowed explination, target line example) may be useful to someone, somewhere, someday. Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: jsalemi on 2008 July 08, 13:12:24 FYI, this info is also in the 'readme' file that comes with every EP and SP, so you only had to search locally. :)
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: KinwatsaZ on 2008 July 10, 19:35:02 Thanks folks for revisiting this subject in this thread. With the recent unpleasantness with my lost neighborhood, at times the screen would lok up and I had no option but to do a very chancy powerdown reboot but hitting my off/on button. Since control alt delete wasn't responding with the game screen locked in. From now on I'm running -w. Already changed it. Thank you all again so much! K
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: KinwatsaZ on 2008 July 16, 01:50:31 So I did run in windows and lost all ability to edge scroll. Changed it back. My neighborhoods are all too big to now be able to scroll. Yow! Mostly it cut down on the ability to follow my sims when in the lot itself. No edge scrolling is not very efficient. And I did have it turned on...it just wasn't functioning.
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: floopyboo on 2008 July 16, 02:18:00 You know that if you right-click on the selected sim you can follow them without having to do the scrolly thing, right?
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: BastDawn on 2008 July 16, 02:41:29 You can still edge scroll in windowed mode by holding down the right mouse button. Everything will scroll in the direction you move the mouse until you let go.
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 July 16, 02:51:17 That's rightclick scrolling, not edge scrolling.
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: BastDawn on 2008 July 16, 03:27:17 Meh, close enough. It works.
Title: Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED Post by: V on 2008 July 16, 04:21:33 Well I scroll in windowed mode by using my keyboard arrow keys. It work fine; last long time!
