Inspired by the delightful rainbow beard from the end of June, this month's contest is for awful stuff on your face: facial hair, furry accessories, gross glasses, full face makeup, tattoos, piercings and the like. Have at it.

Most of the EAxian default options are DO NOT WANTs, DNW full face EAxis makeup that looks like a tiger or clown. DNW gorilla heads or scuba masks. DNW chalky EAxis lippy, crappy EAxis eye stuff, blotchy EAxis blushes. It's not cute-cartoony, it is inelegant and grotty.

You know, I don't know what bothers me more about More Awful entries; the blatantly lazy creators who just churn out copy n' paste crap with absolutely no effort to make the item remotely appealing or plausible, or the ones who obviously do put in effort and have at least some talent, and yet still manage to make us all reach for the eye bleach.

According to the artist, this is a recolour, but IMO it's a crappy one. The two first ones are kind of ok, but the rest: it almost looks like the creator first took a picture of the sim, and then drew on it with a black marker. Behold:

Description:A set of the Castaway Stories native face tattoos recolored to black, along with a native tattoo from Bon Voyage recolored to both black and a light gray that matches the original color of the Castaway tattoos. These all work in both Castaway Stories and The Sims 2.

Um, they *are* recolours of Maxis made face tattoos and to be honest, I think they're pretty good (well, most of them anyway). The original ones are silver/white and they don't look so good on light skins but these do.

Anyway, the patterns are from EA and for what they're designed to be (tribal tattoos) I think they're okay. The base game face masks on the other hand, I never find any good reason to use.

Well, I think they're a bit too *black* to look realistic (that is, look like a tattoo and not magic marker) on the skin, but maybe that's just me...(at least for number 4, 5,6, 8, and 10-15.)

I think once is enough to shame them, assuming they have a way of checking stats.  :D

Just when you think you've seen it all.....

I thought shaved eyebrows went out with Vanilla Ice in the 80s, and that it wasn't an attractive look THEN.

I can think of a reason, as I have them, scars. I have one or two scar sets. One or two of those scars are over the area an eyebrow would be.

I will also speak in defense of the Feathered mask from Peggy. Gaudy as it may be, it is authentic looking. I live in the new orleans area. 70% or more of the shops in the quarter have masks that look just like that.

I, in turn, will speak in the defense of the goofy eyes. (it's the second time in this thread that I'm standing up for a proposed item, should that mean something? :P)

Those aren't supposed to be worn constantly as an accessory, I'm pretty sure. But if you *wanted* to take a picture where a sim would have that look, they'd be really hepful.

Remember people, there are things that look weird but they're intentionally that way, and they can have a use. The Christmas tree barf on the face on the other hand... not so much.

True, and a good point. I'd say those eyebrows should be a face makeup, then, rather than a genetically-inheritable trait.


Wahey, my hometown! How y'all are, chere? I agree; the feathered mask, while apparently completely lacking in texture/colour, looks like a *very* well meshed item. Given it's Peggy's, there's probably some insane gap in it somewhere, but from the picture given, it's really beautifully done. Perfect replica of the Mardi Gras style and very fitting for, say, a formal party.

One thing becomes apparent here: most everyone ran to TSR and looked in the costume makeup area immediately after seeing the contest theme.

Oh goddess. That second one terrifies me.

I don't mind the Twi'lek head-thing, but the fact that the skin tone doesn't match everywhere (check the "ears" coming out of the sides of the crown) does bother me.

The 'ears' are part of the headdress.

I love those Twi'lek head thingies. You can wear them with or without those head-dresses. I have them on several aliens in my Strangetown, and it looks great on them. It's cool that they pick up the color of the Sim's skin.

There are a fair number of plants that smell of rotting meat. It's to attract the flies which pollinate them.

Yo, Alex. You seem to be having some trouble grasping the rules, here. This month, we are looking for stuff on sims's faces. Not hairs, or skins, or whatever.

Yes, I know I mentioned the hair, but look at the face. Notice how the colour appears to be different to the rest of the body (it appears to be full face makeup or something), and the hideous lipstick and eyes.

actually I believe the face is messed up as people don't always know how to make the body part of the skin line up/match the face, it's a separate image. As far as I can see the only thing "on" her face is the awful maxis-like lipstick.

This is just one of many crayon lines   mime brows   eyebrow-type things available in the thread linked above.

Looks more like lines drawn by the plastic surgeon to show where s/he's going to cut the forehead open and do an emergency eyebrow transplant.

Those are quite lovely, and if you're a big fan of Shadowrun, then they are absolutely perfect for Bugs. Pity about the flashing blue problem though.

As for the acne/chickenpox/pomegranate seeds one, it might not look like spots but it's miles better than the eaxis default teen acne, which has about 3 spots about the size of their eyes. Deny your teens bathing rights and see what I mean. It annoys the crap out of me.

Eeugh, I hate that shit too. I know they wanted to make the spots big enough for the player to notice without having to zoom in too much, but those golf balls looks like they're on the verge of rupture. Disgusting.

What annoys me more is that Eaxis seem to be insinutating that people get spots because they don't wash. Or are not clean.

You mean it's down to hormones. In my experience, often the people who suffer from ache tend to be the cleanest, because they wash so much trying to get rid of them.

Well yeah, hormones, too much crap (make up, dirty fingers, greasy hair etc) blocking the pores and washing so much you wash away the skin's natural protection are the main causes.

Just because even native English speakers have trouble with this one, I'll try putting the words in a couple of sentences and see if that helps.

You can affect someone, they can have an effect upon you. Hormones affect how someone might react to acne. The effect of acne can be horrible. You can be affected with a nasty case of acne, the effects are often pus and redness.

Don't know if that helps, I can't explain these rules very well but I know how the words are used.

*ponder-ponder-ponder* EAcne lesions are almost big enough to be bubos...and that would explain the hygiene link. They should appear in the armpit or groin, of course, but I can deal...as long as someone can make the disease 90% fatal and highly contagious...  ;D

I love Aikea and Gelydh's stuff for the most part, but... That looks more like upholstery than lips.

Well, I wish the upholsterer would have at least covered the whole lip. I hate lipsticks that don't actually cover the whole lip. But that might just be me.

I usually like Aikea's stuff but most of her lipsticks only work on light skinned sims. The dark skinned sims end up with very light flesh toned lip liner.

For some reason the box with the different colours of carpet lipstick remind me of The Muppets...

This is also problematic on skins which already have some kind of lip gloss/stick (Which I hate) or excessively pale skins.
