Title: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 June 12, 19:32:58 (http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj244/Lioness_018/Lion_Uni-test400x300.jpg)
Require: Uni. Compatible: Free Time. Object Catagory: Deco > Paintings Price: $50. Required files: Lion_Unitest_GoldRecord, Lion_Unitest Usage: For any residential lot in your base hood, put the Unitest_GoldRecord (modified from the Gold Record painting by Lord Darcy's updated Glamor Life Stuff pre-order posted here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11573.0.html). It has its unique GUID so will not replace the pre-order) any where on the lot before moving in a sim. Save and exit. Move in a teen from the sim bin. The teen will transition into a YA, the intro video (with a teary eyed parent) will play, and everything on the lot will work as if you are in a private house in a uni sub-hood (go to class, register for major, apply for greek house, do assignment, write term paper, etc.). The visitors should be uni students (see pictures below). If you change a residential lot to dorm (using "changelotzoning dorm" cheat), you can even have uni dormies move in with you. Known issues: (1) Students may or may not go to class autonomously (see background below). In testing with two base hood YAs, one does and one does not. But you can always click the student and choose "go to class" one hour before and during their class time. (2) Dorm cook does not come to dorms even if the set-up is correct. Use Inge's SHINY TYME NPC EVERYWHERE PATCH (http://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Eating.htm), or Lord Darcy's fix below (post #23). (3) The semester timer does not count down. You need to spawn the "Semester Tester" (apple statue) with the testing cheat on, and click "start class" for all students. One apple statue for each student. (http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj244/Lioness_018/univisitors.jpg) (http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj244/Lioness_018/assignments.jpg) Background: Sometime ago, Jade Elliot described how she made a university work in a base hood and generated a lot of interest (the thread was deleted by her later, which she has apologized here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,12045.25.html)). In that thread, Argon created a towniebrick and unitest to make any residential lot behave like a uni lot. I tested it briefly and found it worked quite well, except for one problem, students do not go to class autonomously. I remember later in another try they did go autonomously. I reported in that thread but I don't remember the circumstances now. Then FT came out and his townie brick is not compatible (any person-click resets the sim). In his hacks thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11060.0.html) he said he will update when his computer is ready to install FT. In the meantime, I was thinking maybe, since the uni-test can tell it's a uni lot as long as the townie brick is on lot, the townie brick can be anything. So I made a quick test, and it works! Argon, if you want to release your own version, I will take this down if/when you want. Please report whether it works for you and/or any problems. Thank you. Like, really.
Will test this weekend. I had a few teens that I already technically moved to the Uni simbin, but I can pull them and deage them and then run them through in a test lot. Have you tested with any other Uni-related hacks in play? I have TJ's college adjuster that I use generously to play colleges for half the normal time. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 June 12, 22:44:55 It works with my army of hacks (most of Pescado, Twojeff, dizzy, Inge, Ste, Crammyboy, monique, djs, jase, xptl, and a few others here and there). I put in all the college hacks that I have been hording that are not in conflict with each other (for example, one of dizzy's and twojeff's student move away from portal). I start to think the way Argon made it, it should not be in conflict with anything, even those dealing with colleges.

Either the in-game spawnable Sim Modder will do this, or TJ's Sim Blender.

Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lord Darcy on 2008 June 13, 13:40:22 I tested it briefly and found it worked quite well, except for one problem, students do not go to class autonomously. I remember later in another try they did go autonomously. I reported in that thread but I don't remember the circumstances now. Same thing happens when you put a residential lot originally built on regular neighborhood to Uni subhood, because the lot timer is still set on regular hood. The opposite happens when you put a residential lot originally built on Uni subhood to regular neighborhood. Adult Sims will autonomously go to class at 2:00 PM, and Sims will not age at 6.00 PM. To reset the lot timer, you have to move a Sim into borked lot, and use move-out tool in neighborhood screen. I prep regular residential lots to Uni subhood like this; 1. Put a residential lot originally built on regular neighborhood to Uni subhood. 2. Enter the lot, and changelotzoning to dorm. Save and return to Uni subhood screen. 3. Move a YA into the newly converted dorm. Return to Uni subhood screen without saving. 4. Use move-out family tool from the Uni subhood screen. This resets the lot timer. 5. Enter the dorm and changelotzoning back to residential. Save and return to Uni subhood screen. I believe if you move the prepped lot into the lot bin, the lot will retain Uni timer even in the regular neighborhood until the next time you move out family. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 June 13, 14:17:23 Quote Adult Sims will autonomously go to class at 2:00 PM That would explain why the female YA went to class on her own because her class was at 3 pm (undeclared major). But wait, the male YA has the same schedule, but he just wouldn't go. [Edited] Wait again, he might have 5 pm classes. Sorry. Will test later. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Zazazu on 2008 June 13, 14:49:15 I believe if you move the prepped lot into the lot bin, the lot will retain Uni timer even in the regular neighborhood until the next time you move out family. That would make sense. I had troubles ages ago with some residentials I built in Uni not allowing aging. The trick was to plop in regular 'hood, make a change, then save before moving in a sim. Now what I'm thinking is...if you built lots in a Uni sub'hood and then moved them into the bin and plopped in a regular 'hood, shouldn't all this resetting of the lot timer scheme not be necessary? I'm also wondering if anyone has tried dorms. You can plop down a residential in a regular 'hood and use the cheat to rezone as dorm...I've done that before. What happens if you try to move a YA in a regular 'hood? Do they go to the regular 'hood's simbin, or to the Uni one? Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 June 13, 15:17:06 I'm also wondering if anyone has tried dorms. You can plop down a residential in a regular 'hood and use the cheat to rezone as dorm...I've done that before. I did. Rezoned, two rooms, moved in one student, one Maxis uni student moved in after a while. Quote What happens if you try to move a YA in a regular 'hood? Do they go to the regular 'hood's simbin, or to the Uni one? They stay in the base hood. I moved out a YA from a base hood uni lot (residential, she turned from teen to YA there). She went to the base hood sim bin. I then moved her into a base hood dorm, now she has a roommate. ;D Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lord Darcy on 2008 June 13, 16:09:43 if you built lots in a Uni sub'hood and then moved them into the bin and plopped in a regular 'hood, shouldn't all this resetting of the lot timer scheme not be necessary? Of course resetting is not necessary for lots built in a Uni subhood. It's only for converting lots built in a regular neighborhood to Uni lots. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Arina on 2008 June 13, 16:22:01 This might be a stupid question, but does this eliminate entirely the need for making a university? If so, when do the teachers/other students get generated? Do they need to be? What would happen if you had two uni subhoods? (Do you get two sets of npcs when you do that anyway?) Also, I can't remember if the diplomas say what university the sim graduated from - if it does, does it have the name of the main hood or what?
Sorry for all the questions: I'm interested, but I don't think I read the thread the first time around, so I don't really understand how this works :P Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: seelindarun on 2008 June 13, 19:05:41 To reset the lot timer, you have to move a Sim into borked lot, and use move-out tool in neighborhood screen. My experience (and solution) has been the same except I didn't change the lot zoning to dorm and back. I just cheat the dummy YA enough money to rent the residential lot and move him right back out. Do the extra changelotzoning steps preserve something about the lot that I haven't noticed? I just cheat the dummy YA enough money to rent the residential lot and move him right back out. Do the extra changelotzoning steps preserve something about the lot that I haven't noticed? I changelotzoning to dorm just in case. In one occasion I lost furniture after I moved out YAs. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: pixiejuice on 2008 June 14, 21:27:43 Just got a chance to play and this seems to be working well. Are you all getting the semester timer to count down? Mine isn't. I remember that the timer did count down with Argon's mod, so I'm wondering if that's something that could be added to this? It's handy not having to have those stupid apples all over the lot.
Also wondering if anyone's tried sending YAs on vacation? I know back when I played original Uni, I could send them on vacation, and I usually had each bunch of students go on spring break somewhere. But I haven't been able to do that since moving my uni downtown - they age to adult as soon as they get to the vacation hood, same with hobby lots actually. I'm hoping it might be different with these in place. I'll be trying it out as soon as I get them all through the current semester. Everything else I can think of is working - dorms, prompts for going to class... Good work Lion! This might be a stupid question, but does this eliminate entirely the need for making a university? If so, when do the teachers/other students get generated? Do they need to be? What would happen if you had two uni subhoods? (Do you get two sets of npcs when you do that anyway?) Also, I can't remember if the diplomas say what university the sim graduated from - if it does, does it have the name of the main hood or what? Yes, eliminates the need for regular uni, but not only that, I believe the last time I checked I wasn't able to play regular uni anymore - they would age to adult there. (Last time I tried was with Argon's mod. I haven't tried with this one yet.) So if it's basically the same, I think you'll have to choose one or the other. Can't remember what their diplomas say. I'll check next time I play. Building the community college lot took me awhile as I kept changing my mind as to the design.
Good: 1. Teen sims moved into lot zoned as dorm transitioned correctly. 2. Sims were able to pick majors, work on term papers, do assignments. 3. Sims received pre-class message and autonomously went to class. 4. Dormies did show and occupied rooms. No new dormies spawned; these were all my existing dormies for this townie aging round. Bad: 1. It's been five hours and no cafeteria worker. I have the correct stove, several islands, dishwasher, refrigerator...everything I normally have in a cafeteria area. No Whitney Drake to be found. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lord Darcy on 2008 June 17, 11:51:12 Bad: 1. It's been five hours and no cafeteria worker. I have the correct stove, several islands, dishwasher, refrigerator...everything I normally have in a cafeteria area. No Whitney Drake to be found. The BHAV in dorm cooktop checks if the lot in question is located in main 'hood or Uni sub'hood, and prevents the dorm cook from being scheduled if it's in main 'hood. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: pixiejuice on 2008 June 17, 12:44:30 Bad: 1. It's been five hours and no cafeteria worker. I have no idea if this would work or not, but could you try saving the community lot with one of those uni test paintings on it? Maybe then it would be recognized as a uni community lot? It's weird, but I still have one community lot that I stole from my college and brought downtown and the cafeteria worker still spawns. So maybe also try taking the lot to your real uni and saving it there, and then bring it back. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 June 17, 17:43:56 I have Inge's dorm cook everywhere in my download. That's the reason the dorm cook came to my dorm.
Quote I edited the BHAV of the dorm cooktop to bypass the neighborhood check. The dorm cook now can be spawned anywhere except residential lots, Greek houses and owned community lots. That's quick Lord Darcy. Do you think this fix will conflict with Inge's hack? Quote Are you all getting the semester timer to count down? Mine isn't. I remember that the timer did count down with Argon's mod No. This is the third baddie, apart from the noautonomous going to class (at least in my game, it's not consistent) and dorm cook not coming (which can be dealt with now). The solution is the apple statue (Semester Tester, spawnable with the testing cheat). You need one for each student. I doubt Argon's unitest did though. My unitest is basically the same as his, only using a different object's GUID. Quote Good: 3. Sims received pre-class message and autonomously went to class. Zazazu, did you prep the lot with Lord Darcy's method (with or without lotzoning changes)? It does not make a difference for me, although I did not move a YA in and out. I just put the lot in a uni hood and made changes. For both base hood residential-turned-uni lot and uni hood-treated lot, some students go and some don't, at different hours. Some used to go and then stopped going for no apparent reason. Quote This might be a stupid question, but does this eliminate entirely the need for making a university? If so, when do the teachers/other students get generated? Do they need to be? My goal for this type of gameplay IS to eliminate the need to add a uni subhood, and load hoods back and forth; to reduce the number of character files (although empty uni hoods can do that too); and to have the universities become part of the neighborhood scene. So far, my experience is, without installing a uni subhood, the game generated a Llama, a cow, a cheerleader, two streakers, and one professor within a day or two after my teen/YA moved in. The game does not generate YA townies (which is very good). When I need YA roommates for dorms, I can age up a teen to YA (either by moving into a uni-GoldRecord lot, or using Squinge's TeenToYoungAdultNoCollege, a.k.a. the YA cake), and make into townie using Inge's teleporterplus. I also found that, if I move in a townie adult in a uni-GoldRecord lot, the next time I enter the uni lot, the adult will become a YA. And this YA "remembers" her last major (I had age her up and down from teen to adult and back). I tallied up college hacks in my download: Pes: collegeclock noassignmentlitter nodormieregen nossrespawn noundeaddormies nouniprotect novanishindorms runtoclass togafix dramafix Twojeffs: College Adjuster No Meeting Professors Stinky Dormie Fix wind_cowhead_interactive Young Adult & Lazy Anim Fix Dizzy: college-study2-ft elevator-dorm-pets-fix greek-leave-object-on-lawn no-leftovers-in-dorms1b-ft students-return-to-inside All work. I suggest not to have: dizzy's casual-npc2c => cheerleader will come dressed in casual, though the Cow, Llama, and Streakers come in their "uniforms". dizzy's less-homework-uni2b => assignment ADHD problem Squinge_TeenToYoungAdultNoCollege => Not needed usually. It ages teens to YA on any lot. Not wanted in most cases for me. Quote they age to adult as soon as they get to the vacation hood, same with hobby lots actually. I'm hoping it might be different with these in place. I don't know. Needs to be tested. I doubt it will be different this time around if that's a problem.Quote I believe the last time I checked I wasn't able to play regular uni anymore - they would age to adult there. I don't know. I built the lot in the main 'hood. I didn't really follow Lord Darcy's rules, since I wasn't going to put it in my Unis (and the land in those two sub-'hoods is full to bursting). So my method was:1. Build lot in main 'hood. 2. Exit lot (by accident, see: late at night, tired). 3. Enter lot. Add uni gold record. Change lot zoning to dorm. Save and exit lot. 4. Get my YA's back from the Uni bin by summoning them to the farm lot. Aged one to adult. Moved all out on their own into a holding zone. Fixed money situation because they ended up getting $160k+ from being on the farm lot. :o 5. Aged sims back to teen. Moved to sim bin. 6. Moved teen sims to dorm lot. 7. Play. Well, I have two Uni 'hoods. I send all the townie teens to college when it's time for an aging round and then use Inge's teleporter to make them YA dormies. They showed up correctly on this main 'hood Uni lot, as expected. Unfortunately, none of the boys are appealing to my gay twins, but that's another story. I have five YA's (low number due to an error in need estimation) and all five have showed up. With the four playables and five dormies, nine out of ten rooms have been occupied. The other stayed empty, as it should. So no messing with dormie generating restricted by other hacks. Yay. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: pixiejuice on 2008 June 23, 20:35:21 Study abroad works!
I sent my YA on vacation from her home lot, a dorm on my downtown LCU campus. When she got to her hotel in Takemizu Village, I plopped a uni-test thing in her hotel room. I spawned a semester tester for her, which was functional. From her hotel she can do her assignment, do her term paper from a computer, and go to her classes. She was not prompted to go to class autonomously, though I was able to send her. She went and got credit, met the appropriate professors. One weird thing is that the mascots, professors, etc. stopped by because the uni-test was on the lot. There's probably a mod for that somewhere. The biggest annoyance was that I was not able to place a college adjuster on her hotel lot, which means I have to play all 72 hours before she can go to her exam, and that kind of sucks! I usually only play 48 hours to a semester. I don't know if this would be different if she were staying in an owned vacation home instead of a hotel. That will be my next trial. Does anyone else know of a way to skip to the final exam without the college adjuster? Or a way to place the college adjuster where it's not available? I didn't have time to finish out all 72 hours, so I didn't get to the exam yet. I assume she'd be able to go without any problems since she went to her classes okay. I guess the real test will be sending her back home after the exam to see if she keeps all the credit she earned. This will be a lot of fun if it works out. And a great way to charge my filthy-rich trust-fund simmies more money to go to college. I can't wait to build a kind of boarding house (hotel) for my students to stay and study at. Anybody else try this yet? One more thing to note: you'll want to put your studying-abroad students in a different household than your staying-home students, since you wont be able to play your home students again until your abroad students come home. It would be really cool if there were some kind of mod to keep the abroad students (or any vacationing sim for that matter) from walking around the regular neighborhoods and showing up on community lots. It kind of ruins the illusion that they're supposed to be half a world away, you know? ETA: I just finished out the semester, she went to her final exam and passed. She came home with the appropriate credit. Quote One weird thing is that the mascots, professors, etc. stopped by because the uni-test was on the lot. There's probably a mod for that somewhere. To me, mascots, professors are part of college experience (studying abroad is also in a foreign college, right?), so I don't stop them from coming (I will make-over the professor to look exactly like my playable professor when I play, using Christainlov's SimCopyMirror). But I think if you want, TJ's visitor controller may be able to block them. I'm not currently use the VC because it makes sims come home from work in casual, not their work uniform. Or alternatively use Christainlov's "NoCollegeSpecialNPCVisitor" in his A Collection of 7 No Visitor Hacks 080617 (http://freya.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=288037). It's shortened to just "d" in my game.Currently, my only annoyance is the unmovable popup created by the semester tester. Do not want. Gets in the way, especially since I like viewing the whole dorm at once. I let my sims go do their own thing except for scheduled motive checks, so I need to see what they get up to. I missed Benjamin popping into the photobooth with a random dormie. Kid jumped right after the spin and looked like a teen but got no aspiration choice screen. He also was doing a rather comical walk that I should have taken a photo of...bent at the knee. His voice and action choices were still those of a child. I aged back and forth and the bug persisted upon every transition from child to teen.
When I removed UniTest and Uni-GoldRecord, the bug did not occur. The gold record was not present on the lot at any time. No error log was generated. Background: I have a sim starting out a farm and pretty much starving. He doesn't have the money to go anywhere, and his paramour's father asked him to respect his daughter's reputation and not see her while he is an adult and she a teen. I mean, seriously, it already looks bad that they are second cousins. Well, he wouldn't be able to travel to see her in college, either, so that would be another round of loneliness. Not really acceptable, and prevents some nefarious plans I had for them. Procedure: Cheated girl up to adult and moved her out on her own. On holding lot, I aged her back to teen. Placed gold record on farm (which the adult male was already occupying). Moved her onto farm. She was a YA on lot load with college semesters on her timer. He still had his days of the week. Good so far. She was able to declare major and go to class (even with a semester tester on the lot and activated, she didn't get the prompt or the autonomous behavior). She wasn't able to do assignments (queue droppage). She received class credit for going to class. Neutral, as I don't normally have them do assignments anyway. He didn't have a job, and behaved completely normally. I was able to get him a job from the newspaper (which I don't intend to keep, but I wanted to test). He was not able to use either Monique's computer (option not present) or debug + shift-click to get a job. It threw an error. Carpool came at the appointed time and he was able to go to, come home from, get paid from, and bring friends home from work. Great. Walkbys were all college sims, though I did have one former Uni professor who married in a couple rounds ago walk by as well. Conclusions: Mixed households work, though it's questionable if aging for non-teens or kid-to-teen would work. Actually, it's guaranteed that kids would go from teen to YA in about six seconds. Obviously not possible with teens on the lot you don't want in college. But eh, under certain circumstances students can go to college from home. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 July 16, 11:40:20 Both are great! Love to see more options.
Zaza, is IKEA still creating hack conflicts for you, like the age transition bug? Did you track down what causes it? (I'm seriously thinking about getting it now.) Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Zazazu on 2008 July 16, 15:16:22 I haven't been in a house with a transitioning kid for awhile. I suppose I could just test it like a normal person, but I always forget to do so. No other age transitions are bugging...just child to adult. And other than the one who was sort of stuck as a child behavior and animation-wise, all other kids have physically transitioned just fine. However, they don't get the aspiration choice dialog.
Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: pixiejuice on 2008 July 16, 16:25:59 I've played mixed households before - teen/YA, and adult/YA. And if I remember correctly, my teens would never age to YA unless they've been moved into the lot from the sim bin. I tried, actually, to just summon my new round of college students and add to family, as a hopefully quicker way of aging them up, but they wouldn't age unless I physically moved them out and back in. So I would deduce that a child transitioning to teen should stay teen, and have to be moved out and back in again to become a YA.
He was not able to use either Monique's computer (option not present) or debug + shift-click to get a job. It threw an error. Did you have the uni-record present on the lot at the time you tried? I have to delete mine for a second while I have my YAs get their jobs, then pop it back in once I'm done. You can also just leave it out for a while and have regular townies walk by. Of course, you'll have to put it back in again before you can do any assignments or send them to class or whatever, but I take mine out occasionally, just to see what adults and teens walk by. My YAs are downtown, after all, and it wouldn't hurt for them to meet some rich downtownies to marry ;) Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Zazazu on 2008 July 16, 18:39:15 He was not able to use either Monique's computer (option not present) or debug + shift-click to get a job. I'm not sure if it's due to some of that weird code mess you get with Uni NPCs that causes them to still exhibit some of the old behavior they had before becoming a playable, or what. The port forwarding thing - can't get "set up static IP address" work. Got DNS servers addresses right (both from command and from calling my ISP. The rep kept asking why do I need the addresses, and said you need Business account to have static IP address, and then said it will break the router...). I also found my ISP listed in the DNS server addresses thread at uTorrent help forum. I don't mind buying the XP, but If I can't get it to download, I won't be able to get no-CD crack for Apartment, which I will buy but I'm sure it has super SecuRom. :'( Forget about Sims3. If a YA sim on your lot wants to "walk to a lot," does the list of neighborhoods he can travel to include the Uni neighborhoods?
I ask because I'm trying to figure out what the deciding factor in whether or not a travelling Sim can visit a uni lot. A YA sim on a main hood lot (possible using cheats) can't travel to a uni neighborhood lot. An adult Sim on a uni neighborhood lot can travel to other uni neighborhoods and uni lots. So the deciding factor would seem to be what kind of hood the game thinks it is starting from rather than the age of the Sim. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 July 18, 11:45:56 Good question. I don't have YA yet in my current hood. I am using this mod, but my teen didn't age to YA when moved into the lot. It's a normal res. lot, with the gold record in it. I had the teen move out from his parent's home, then move into the uni lot as per instructions. No YA movie, no college stats. He's still a teen. I checked that I have both Lion's files in my game. Also, I am currently trying out Inteen (don't hit me!). Is this mod not compatible with Inteen? I know a lot of things are not. I can use a hack to age him up to YA, but will I get the college info that way? And of course the scholarship money hasn't appeared. Update: I believe it was INteen causing that - it's a feature, so you can have regular families on campus. But doesn't work with this setup! Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Lion on 2008 August 19, 21:50:54 Sleep, I would say it might be a hack conflict. Playlives, I doubt it would. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: sleep on 2008 August 20, 03:12:27 I'll check with no other hacks tomorrow; my computer time is very limited right now as the fan is dying.
Aging him to YA with the insiminator worked, and he even went autonomously to class. So I can still use the lot as a Uni one, but it's not quite working as advertised. I'll report back when I've had a chance to check without other hacks. Update... I put the unitest files into the BasegameStarter, up to BV, with no other CC except the Insiminator (to age teens so they could move out). I created a teen prodigy and moved him out, then from the sim bin into a maxis house prepped with the unitest painting. He had 20 000 in the simbin as expected. There was no movie, but the teen did appear magically transformed to YA, with the Uni stats showing. I'm sure movies are turned on, because I have never bothered to find out how to turn them off. I forgot to check what money he had after moving in, so I don't know about his scholarships. Any hints about the movie? I can live without it if the rest works, but it would be nice to have the option. I'll have to test my other hacks and find out what was messing with the aging yesterday. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: sleep on 2008 August 20, 08:08:13 Posting again in case Lion doesn't see that I've updated...
I've tested a dorm lot, still with just the unitest and Insim loaded. The sim moved in as before, no movie, with her 20 000. Appeared as YA, no twirl. That's one rich dorm sim! I haven't seen any posts about this, but maybe the lack of scholarship money is to be expected. Just something to know about using this mod. Thanks, it's great to have uni without a subhood anyway. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: pixiejuice on 2008 August 20, 16:40:06 I haven't seen any posts about this, but maybe the lack of scholarship money is to be expected. Just something to know about using this mod. Right, the only way you'll get scholarship money is to move them to the real college first - they can't stay there, or they will age to adult. I consider it college orientation ;) I just move them into a lot, pause immediately, pocket their scholarship money, and then move them to my downtown uni via Inge's teleporter. That may be more work than some are willing to do - you could also just write down how much scholarship money they're due, and give it to them via family funds cheat. Can't help with the movies though, mine are always turned off. I can certainly live without the movie, I waas more interested in why the mod didn't quite work as advertised. Another update...playing in a clean game, my sims cannot use the bookcases for research. The only CC installed is Lion's unitest, the insiminator, Pescado's college clock and Twojeffs' Adjuster. I was testing whether I could use the adjuster or the clock to send them to finals without using testingcheats, but it seems not. It kinda looks as though the college clock should do it, but it seemed to just re-roll the wants panel. One time I turned the tester off after clicking Pescado's 'take exam now', and the sim still went to the exam okay. But otherwise, if this works ofr other people, I must be missing something. In the process, I found out that the college option is missing from all bookcase menus. This is in both a dorm and a community lot, containing the Unitest. I checked La Fiesta Tech attached to that hood, and the bookcase in a dorm there worked fine. is this a known problem? Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Zazazu on 2008 September 15, 15:21:15 I can tell you that it's not causing conflicts with normal gameplay. I haven't tried actual Uni functions yet.
Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Miss-BD on 2008 September 24, 14:59:01 I'm curious to know what happens to sims if they're accepted into the secret society when they live in a dorm in the main hood. Does it work like normal or should it be avoided?
Also, it seems to be working for AL. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, but teens successfully age into YAs onced moved into the dorm with this installed and dormies spawn like they supposed to (or not with nodormieregen ;) ). Haven't yet had the chance to send a sim off to class yet, but will test that out soon and report back. Good to know it's still working.
Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Heilena on 2008 September 29, 01:46:28 I have this installed and I am playing AL, actually I am playing HP's mega-hood. I have most of Pescado's and TJ's mods as well as some of Lord Darcy's, Inge, Squinge, Carrigon, Crammyboy, Monique, Christianlov...hmmm I know there are at least a few more and I want Atevera's window mod fixed so I can add that too. ;D
I am playing the Newson family which consists of 2 teens and 2 children and 2 toddlers. I thought this would be perfect for them because with these particular dynamics, the puny wages earned from a job would be pointless because it would all be consumed in Nanny fees. At any rate, I purchased the gold record. Immediately, I got visits from cheerleaders and mascots. The next day, I hired a Nanny for that day and the teens and children when to school. Upon return of the bus at 1:00pm, the teens had transitioned into YA's. The children were still children. I spawned the semester testers and started class for both of them. Neither will go to class autonomously (I actually don't mind this because of the children), and my bookcases don't show any college interactions (i do mind this so I am looking for a mod). Once they graduate a semester, they do get any funds due to them. Otherwise, they are Sophomores and everything seems to be going fine. For me anyway, this is the perfect solution for this particular family. :) Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: Heilena on 2008 September 30, 03:51:48 Just to update:
I installed Squinge's collegeinteractionsonanylot after reading a few pages back that it enables the Uni bookcase features. Although the mod is a few packages old, it did enable them and I am using the goth one that came with the Teen Style sp. Also, I didn't notice this before but when I use the macrotastics college rampage, I do get the option to "go to class". I didn't notice this before I installed collegeinteractionsonanylot because my Sims got stuck at the bookcase without the required features. Although I haven't noticed any problems with this older mod, just to caution, there is a post that it won't be updated for AL due to past problems. The two children in this particular family did age to teens, and so that they won't advance to YA's immediately, I turned their aging off and that is working. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: sleep on 2009 April 03, 11:08:00 I've been trying to use this mod again recently, but having trouble. When moving a teen into a main-hood dorm containing the Unitest painting, they age to adult, not YA. I am using Twojeff's Blender to set sims to teen, then to 'independent teen' so they can move out.
I think the Blender independent setting is the issue, since the only dormie that has aged to YA rather than adult, is one that was the last resident of her lot, so was able to move out as a normal teen. For clarity, the latest version of the Blender has this in the manual: Quote Set as Independent Teen: Flags a teen as an adult without aging them. Note: if used you must manually age the sim the the blender to adult/young adult. If aged by the game the teen will jump straight to elder! I must have missed that bit earlier. Non-awesome hack, I know. Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: mbot on 2011 September 22, 22:55:39 Currently, my only annoyance is the unmovable popup created by the semester tester. Do not want. Has anyone discovered if there is a way around this? I've just been experimenting with a base game uni in my test hood, and the popups are a major drag. Once you get 3+ sims in a household, they start to fill up the entire right side of the screen, which is truly annoying. Is there a way to get rid of them, or am I just stuck with the wall o' popups?Title: Re: Base hood University: Lion's Uni-GoldRecord and Unitest (Based on Argon's) Post by: sleep on 2011 September 25, 08:28:47 Haven't used it in a while, but from memory, you can close the windows. They come back if you click on the semester tester. Or you can leave just one of them open, if everyone is on the same schedule, and keep an eye on the click that way without fill ing your whole screen.

The second I closed one, a new one would pop up, so there was essentially no getting rid of them. I suppose I could just leave one semester tester on until finals time, then use the clock to start finals and bring back semester testers for the others when it's time... Oh well. Guess that's the best solution?
