Title: Monastery, renovated from a Maxis lot
Post by: witch on 2008 June 06, 14:16:08
I had to go poking around looking at old lots today and I came across 210 Wright Way, one of the original homes from Pleasantview. I've always liked the size of the house and I've played it in various incarnations. This time it was destined to become a monastery because I'll be needing one for my hood shortly.

It would probably make a good Uni dorm as well.

I'll show you some pictures, tell you the facts and you can decide if it would fit in your hood.  8)

Feature wall, by golly.

This lot has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. All EPs up to Freetime needed. It's worth $164,817.

It's not up to awesome spec, you'd have to pull the stairs back a bit and make a wall around them if you wanted to keep everyone on the ground floor. Plus the desk, although on the ground floor, is probably too far from the door. And no front fence.

This lot has several cc wallpapers and one floor. Download it here (http://www.4shared.com/dir/5969025/d93e78cb/sharing.html).
If you'd prefer one with no cc, I've uploaded a version at Laverwinkle (http://laverwinklesims.com/index.php?topic=788). You can also see a side-by-side comparison of before and after shots there, if you're keen.

My monks will be gardeners, they won't have jobs, so there's plenty of room for fishing and gardening.

I wish I could renovate my own house this easily.  ;D

You've done an awesome job, witch. Alas, I do not have FT yet, so I'll have to wait to download this. After I do get FT, I'll be heading down to laverwinkle!

This is one of my favourite houses in-game and you've done a really good job on this witch. It's gorgeous!

I'm going to grab the LW one ;D

Wow! Just the other day I was redoing this house, but I was'nt satisfied with the result. Now I see what I should have done. I think I might use it for Uni, never thought of that either.   :)

Thanks. :)

I might add, it's a very colourful monastery because my monks are the orange robe wearing ones. I downloaded the clothing after Rohina's bean counter story so it has to be kind of asian/tibetan/eastern conglomerate in design. The bedrooms will also be more colourful as I start moving sims in.

It's going to be a place for the unmarried males to live and the hood supplier of fresh fruit and veg.

I have another lot for unmarried females, the Valkyrie rock band house.

I like your remodeling - well met.

I was about to ask you why there would be a need for a monastery in your hood, but now I can see - you're keeping the rogues out fo harms way. ;)

Yep, they'll be too busy to make trouble.  :D I'm trying to go with one heir per family, so the lots I play don't increase exponentially every generation. I'm looking forward to the apartments for elders as well.

Oh, what a great idea!

Too bad you can't send some of the sons off to war....

I made some tweaks and changes. I made roofs over the front part, changed the colour, domed one roof, changed the gazebo, added a back door off the kitchen and removed an unneeded wall.

That is really loverly.  I always liked this house too, but not Maxis style.  Great improvements!

Cheers. Another thing I forgot to mention; it's actually 6 bedrooms if you count the room with a feature wall. I plan to use that room for fitness and various skilling objects, which is why it wasn't in the bedroom count. It would also work well as a nursery.

That dome alone makes a huge difference! I'm reminded of the monastery at New Skete (where the dogs are trained), which has rounded roofs painted gold. It's very awesome.
