I have all the expansions before BV and Family Fun and Glamour Life Stuff packs. I have just recently downloaded BV and started playing and noticed a little strangeness. In my Sims want slots, there are blank slots with a simolean in the lower left corner. When I mouse over it, the tip says, "Buy <unnammed wantable object category 1009x>" with the "x" as either 7 or 8. It also mentions how many Aspiration points it will yield.

This neighborhood is Strangetown.

Help. What is the problem?

Do you have the Uni careers enabled hack from here? I had a similar issue with FT but it was fixed, maybe it needs moar fixing for BV.

Have you patched your BV?  I believe that was a bug in the original release that was fixed by the patch.


Oh, and when you get a new EP, pretty much every hack you have needs to be updated.  You can get Pescado's BV-compatible hacks in the BV directory here, and TwoJeff's has updated his hacks over on his own site now, www.simbology.com.

Already patched the game and updated the Pescado hacks. I'll update the TwoJeffs hacks and let you all know if it worked.

I have the same problem, with patched game upto BV (did not install FreeTime patch) and all hacks updated. I havn't figured out what is causing it yet.

Have you updated uni_ltws_sns?  That isn't in the DC, so it can be easy to overlook when you're updating your hacks.

If you take out uni_ltws_sns entirely do the wants return to normal?

no. I removed it and it still happens

You should do a binary search (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7437.msg208014.html#msg208014) to track down the problem hack (if there is one).

You added uni_ltws_sns?  But you already had it according to your list.

Did you update ALL your hacks, not just Pescado's & TJ's?  It's a bad idea to run your game with outdated hacks.

BTW, if you don't have Free Time, why do you have bughuntnoqueuestomp in your downloads?  IIRC, that's to fix a problem where being chased by bees stomps your queue while bug hunting, and bug hunting is only available in FT.  You did get the Director's Cut from the BV folder, and not the FT folder, right?

I see it. This is no-BV oddity. I will probably have to fix this in wfsanity.

I have all my hacks covered. I had uni_ltws_sns initially, got rid of it, and put it back with no change to the want slot. The problem was the WantTuning hack. I found this out after  the binary search.

Yes I did do the BV Director's Cut. I don't know how that got there.

For some reason I found this in my hacks folder, too, even though I got everything from the DC for BV. I assumed that maybe it had something to do with the seasons fireflies, or perhaps is otherwise harmless without FT installed?

Get the hack conflict detection utility from Sims Wardrobe. It's great.

Just a note on this: I had the same bug after installing BV and FT a few days ago. I double checked updating all my hacks  and it still wouldn't go away. Strangely enough what fixed it was simply removing my Pescado folder, running the game, quitting, and then putting my Pescado folder back in. It's a trick I always try from previous expansion bugs. If that doesn't work I try the one by one hack removal.

Might not work if you don't have your hacks subdirectoried by creator.
