Title: "The Sims 2 is already up to date." Except that it isn't. Post by: Insanity Prelude on 2008 May 11, 21:39:52 Okay, so I finally got around to installing Sims 2 and its myriad expansions on my laptop. All is running smoothly, I manage to avoid freezing the install like I did on my desktop computer, but there's one rather weird thing-
I didn't have the patches for most of them downloaded, since on the desktop it would install those as part of installing a new EP anyway. Weird thing is, every time it did the "now checking that your install is up to date" thing, it said it was... And I wasn't installing the patches on my own, so. Yeah. I did install the patches for Seasons and BV since those were still on my hard drive. Would installing the other patches now cause problems? I don't think it should, since each EP has a separate directory, but we all know how stable this game is. XP Title: Re: "The Sims 2 is already up to date." Except that it isn't. Post by: jsalemi on 2008 May 11, 21:49:01 No -- that message only means it's checking the base game files to be sure they're the latest version. In spite of how it reads, no later EP checks to see if any other EPs you have on your disk are patched.
So go ahead and patch away! Title: Re: "The Sims 2 is already up to date." Except that it isn't. Post by: talysman on 2008 May 12, 00:07:05 Some expansions are patched by stuff packs, as I recall, so you may not need to patch. Still, patching shouldn't hurt, unless you're using a known bad patch.
