Title: Moses' Burning Bush Bug
Post by: ataribaby on 2008 May 11, 10:51:55
I'm having trouble with trees burning perpetually after having been struck by lightning? Even deleting the flaming tree sometimes has no effect - the burning effect can linger on in mid air. On one lot it looks like the residents are a couple of KKK nut jobs (they're not - some of their best friends are black ;D) with a 20 ft burning cross blazing on the front lawn:

Anyone else having this trouble?

the only time I had the same problem, i put a stuck object remover on the spot where the tree was & that cleared it up. Of course, I was down one tree, but what the hell. :D

No. But it *IS* pretty damn awesome, so don't ask ME to fix it.

Wow. That looks really amazing-if a little KKK-ish :D I've had the burning tree before but it usually goes away when I delete the tree-I've never had that effect though!

Well I've sent an email to the Pope - there's a chance he might classify this as an official miracle. Might be a while before he responds though, it being Sunday and all.

The breadfruit tree does this for me. Apparently, it's a common bug. I've had to avoid using it, and it's one of my favorite trees.

I must now interrupt the helpfulness to report: THAT SCREENSHOT IS TEH AWESOME!

Oh, and yes, I've had that happen on a couple lots. Do you play with debug mode on? I always get an error (climate controller # 357). I've never found anyone else who experiences that error, but a reset usually kills any weather occurring  and the flaming of the tree. It doesn't bother me much, but I agree with Zazazu, it does seem that some trees are more prone than others.

I get that error occasionally (not yet in my current 'hood, though) but it never coincides with the burning.

I think the tree from the screenie was a breadfruit tree, so that's handy to know it's a 'feature' of the game. I've got the latest FT patch too. Looks like they missed that one.

I've also had bushes burning 24/7 though; the full Moses Monty. I'll havebto check whether deleting burning bushes gets rid of the effect.

I agree, this is pretty awesome.  The "WTF now?" expression of the sim in the picture is extremely lulzy.

I was having that happen all the time and it doesn't anymore.  I deleted a downloaded alarm and i think that helped.  I don't remember what it was called.  I also deleted alarms that were clock clones but I think I ended up thinking it was the alarm hack.

I had the same thing happen a few months ago:

I tried to call the fire departement, but got fined for crying wolf.
If I remember correctly I couldn't even get rid of the flames with the stuck object remover (probably because they were too far up), and had to quit without saving.

Oh, come on, Gwill!  Quit without saving on that?  Your lot-owner sim is the Phantom of the Opera, for heaven's sake.  You'd think he'd enjoy the theatrics of a burning tree in the back garden.  It's very appropriate.

Yeah, that's the breadfruit tree. If anyone can fix that perpetual burning bug, I'd adore them forever.

He's just a retired accountant with an emo hairdo.

Ditto.  The cross is slightly cool looking, but the flames slow the game.

Okay Gwill, i have to ask this.  How many Thinking-Cap-Hat-Stands do sims actually need?  :)

I always have loads of thinking caps too-at least 1 per sim :D (Teen and older) In my dorms I have a small room just for the thinking caps and stands!

So this is what Sim-style substance abuse looks like. Thinking caps and bubble blowers...

See, I'd download some white robes and pointy hats. Any sim whose tree does this is now a member of the underground KKK. Down with alien sims and s4 skintones! MOAR FIGHT!
