Title: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: letitia on 2008 March 08, 02:43:11 i installed community lot, and changelotzoning it to residential. the info shows that it is residential and buyable. but after i move in a sim, it loads in buy and build mode (without the life mode) and my sim is nowhere to be found. but when i exit the lot, my sim shows in there! but it just won't play that lot as residential so i move out my sim to bin again. is the cheat to change lotzoning not working anymore?
in another custom lot, i move in custom sim that i made. i macro socialized with the others, then bought chrisitian's cooktop. and then i power-idled my sim for a while. later on, i turned off the power idle and i realized that my sim won't do anything autonomously. their bars keep decreasing until red, they pee themselves, smells bad, whine, etc but they just won't move at all, they won't go to the nearest shower or grab food (i put the shower and beside the sim, no custom object). if i play them to go shower, they will go. i dismissed the all in one npc and deleted christian's cooktop, thinking that it caused my sim to stand still. but nothing's changed. i tested moving in another sim into that lot, with pet. the new sim stood still too with my other stupid sims, i didn't do anything or power idling her. the pet is not affected. i bought pet bed and bowl, and it eats and sleeps normally. worse, when i moved out that new sim into other lot (without previously stupid sim) the last sim i move still have that stupidness. i played in another lot with another custom sims trying to find the cause, i did macro skill, power idling - cancel the idling. they still do things autonomously. bought cooktop call the npc - everything works fine too. then what happen to my other sim that won't do anything?? there's no error message and no hack conflict i scanned it. help me >_< Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: danicast on 2008 March 08, 02:46:56 Check the lot with debug mode on, then you will got error messages. Something is borked, you need the error messages to find what.
Also, if you donīt have, download Lot Debugger (here at MATY) and use it. It fixes several things. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: BastDawn on 2008 March 08, 04:42:18 A residential lot will not work if it doesn't have a mailbox. Did you acquire one and put it on the lot?
Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: Sleepycat on 2008 March 08, 05:03:41 if you need the buyable mailbox and trashcan collection, you can get it at http://daydream.etowns.net/

Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: Buchignani on 2008 March 09, 14:07:27 Did you get the trashcan too? You need that also. And to make sure your mailbox and trashcan are placed where the game normally puts them so they don't block portals. Try moving the mailbox around with the same number of tiles between it and the trashcan that the game puts.
Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: danicast on 2008 March 09, 14:12:29 I also notice that really small lots (like those you can download at MTS2, with 1x1 tile) have serious issues related to portals, there is not enough space to make things work if you have a sim standing in front of the houselot, as example, or the mail carrier arriving at the same time than the carpool. I ended resizing those small lots cause they never worked well.
Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: letitia on 2008 March 09, 14:47:24 the thing is, i have 2 sims in that lot. one of them working late afternoon. no one is in front of the house, but there's no carpool either. i tried calling taxi and it loads fine to the community lot. garbage can and mail box are working fine.
if you miss your carpool because of portal trouble, do you usually get phone call from work? cause i usually get it when i miss work, but i didn't get it in that lot. what's wrong with my static sim can anyone help me T_T i tried many things, deleting the lot, the sims, and installing the new lot package with clean installer, putting brand new sims. but every sim i put in that lot only stands still T_T i even deleted whole neighborhood and installed it again with clean installer, but no changes. played in debug mode, but no error messages either. they still interact with pets, but they won't do anything else. every time i load a new sim into that lot, there's mail billing $66 to that lot, no matter which new sims i put into that lot >_< and there's another thing. when i macro-hobbinate science in that lot, they ran and sit down doing nothing. but the icon in the upper left shows call target. did my pc break it? why there's no error message.. *sigh* haven't tested it in other lots though. any help is appreciated, thank you! Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: danicast on 2008 March 10, 00:08:56 If just happens in that specific lot, is a borked lot. I have no idea how to fix it. I dunno how to fix a missing carpool portal. Can be the problem. Did you tried to load the lot without CC?
Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: letitia on 2008 March 10, 03:26:13 yeah, it happens only in two lots. i tested other lots with macro and christian's cooktop and they are still fine. i don't know what's wrong =/ i did try installing it with clean installer and exclude the CC but it's not helping. the mail boy still comes and put that $66 bill and my sim only stood beside the mailbox when i loaded that lot.
last night i tried uninstalling the sims FT, and it won't even uninstall it! >_< i tried it from control panel and using CC cleaner too, but nothing happened so i deleted the whole sims folder. now i can't install the whole game it keeps showing failed progress. something is terribly wrong with my PC. i'm going to try formatting it =( have to remove the hacks, i use almost all hacks in moreawesome-ft folder >_< thanks for your tips dani Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: cassandra on 2008 March 10, 04:03:05 Go here, get the portal reveler and the buy-able portals. Since it was originally as comm-lot, there is probably a portal missing that the carpool needs.

I have formatted my computer and installed the new neighborhood, free from CC, free from hacks. but the lot is still broken. how can it be?? i installed the neighborhood and lot only, downloaded from modthesims2...if anyone have played simville custom neighborhood... anyone care to test this lot? i packaged it, the CC is only the invincible driveway. lot's credit to numenor. is it only in my PC or something is wrong with that lot? please if anyone can give me feedback, thank you. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: jsalemi on 2008 March 11, 17:56:15 Ah, you didn't mention it was a downloaded lot/neighborhood. Is it possible the lot/hood requires an EP you don't have? Or if you have all the requirements, it's most likely the lot is borked to begin with, or it was made with an earlier EP and later EPs borked it.
Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: letitia on 2008 March 12, 04:58:57 hmm i have all the EP from uni to FT. is it possible that FT borked it? but it works fine in other lots...
anyone has FT installed played with SimVille neighborhood? (or the attached lot above..) Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: Kyna on 2008 March 12, 05:29:36 Hmm, have you tried loading the lot with debug mode on, and seeing if you get any errors popping up? There may be a glitched object on the lot.
Try this with a fresh version of lot, that you haven't played yet, then attach the resulting error log to a post here. To attach a file to a post here, click on Additional Options on the "post reply" screen. The option to attach a file to your post is in there. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: Havelock on 2008 March 12, 06:18:58 I have it downloaded.
One pedestrian portal is out of lot but should work otherwise but you had missed something important. Without free will on, your sim could do nothing. So turn free will on and everything should be fine.Tested more carpool showed up fine also nothing wrong with the lot you uploaded. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: letitia on 2008 March 12, 06:57:08 thank you for pointing at that something! i missed that because i didn't even know how to turn on/off the free will (*blushes*) yes, you can point and make fun of me >_<
i searched the forum and found out how. i turned the free will on in that lot. now my sims are not static anymore. i wonder how it got turned off tho...i guess it comes with the lot? the carpool not showing is in my other lot, not the one uploaded. i changed downloaded 1x1 community lot into residential, only putting a mailbox but the car pool doesn't show up. i guess missing carpool is because i need to download the portal? i'll try that one, thank you for all of you who helped me out, i really appreciate it *hugs* i freaked out because i'm using non-awesome and not-updated hack..christian's cooktop. i'm afraid that it could borked my game, but my sim can't live without it *sigh* thanks, guys! Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: danicast on 2008 March 12, 07:24:44 We are looping here. The lot is borked. Downloaded broked lot.
Burninate. End of story. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! And if both the carpool and the schoolbus try to come at the same time, the game really freaks. Toss in a nanny car, and it's total meltdown time. :P Turn it back into a comm lot, and it may be somewhat useable. But trying to use a 1x1 residential lot is asking for trouble. Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working! Post by: Zazazu on 2008 March 12, 15:40:57 1x1 residentials are fine, as long as they are checked by the builder before sharing to make sure the portals are where they should be. I use them constantly. The only issue I have is one you always have on lots with only 10 grid squares on the sidewalk - carpool and bus cannot be there at the same time. Get butts in seats ASAP, and everyone gets where they're going on time. Service vehicle and emergency vehicle cannot be there at the same time. Street parking is a no-no.
Changing a commercial 1x1 to a residential 1x1 without using Inge's buyable portals and portal revealing flamingo is an epic no-no. You are going to have problems. Get those (at MTS2 (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=251392)). Changing a residential 1x1 to a community 1x1 rarely causes any issues whatsoever (I do that regularly as I only have the blank small-sized lots in the residential flavors) but checking the portals is always a good idea on any shrunken lots. On a community lot you need: 2 car portals (sidewalk side of the center line) 2 pedestrian portals (guess where those go) On a residential lot you need: 2 car portals (sidewalk side of the center line) 2 pedestrian portals 2 service portals (non-sidewalk side of the center line) Title: Re: my sim got stupid and my residential lot not working!
