Title: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2005 October 26, 13:47:31 Marla Biggs of Uni (who put a few hours on a treadmill and in front of the mirror) had her second date with Nathan Bisgrove, a Uni geek born into one of my families.
After a visit to the Hub where they played darts, had dinner, and made out a bit, the date was over. Great time for both of them. The roses appeared on the sidewalk at Marla's place, but not long after so did a $6,500 hot tub with a note of appreciation from Nathan. Is this an anomoly? Sure hope not; maybe he'll give her roses and a car the next time. ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Motoki on 2005 October 26, 13:51:05 Nope, it's normal. They do that sometimes now if you have really good dates or outings. I haven't gotten a hot tub yet, but I've gotten expensive statues and fountains. Funny how some broke assed sim can afford those gifts lol but I won't complain. ;D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: U_Dog_U on 2005 October 26, 14:04:11 Makes me wonder what Marla did to deserve those gifts. ;D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2005 October 26, 15:27:17 Makes me wonder what Marla did to deserve those gifts. ;D A few smooches and dinner - that's all....for now. But since she has a new hot tub, who knows where that will lead to? Gee, maybe that was the point of the gift. :o Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Diala on 2005 October 26, 15:37:54 Was the money for the hot tub subtracted from his account? I assume these are both playable Sims. Sorry, I don't have NL yet.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Process Denied on 2005 October 26, 16:05:21 I don't think they pay for the gifts. Brandi broke gave one of my sims a dance sphere for an outing that he was invited to and there is NO way she could afford that. She had to borrow money for the grocery bill. Last night I was playing Regan and Cornwall Capp and they went on three conscecutive(??)outings and in a few hours they had a dance shere, hot tub,and a Fleur Fountain on their front porch. Very lucritive night.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Myth on 2005 October 26, 16:08:13 Nope the hot tubs and other items are "gifts" for the great date. Your family does not get charged for them and actually you can sell the items for more simoleons. I usually get the roses the first night and a more expensive item the next. Then it's back to calling them for another great date and more goodies. It's always cool to have atleast one pleasure sim in a poor family. :D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Inge on 2005 October 26, 16:10:25 They should have to pay for the gifts! That's cheating!
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: DuzzyGirl on 2005 October 26, 16:17:31 All these gifts make me kind of jealous. Several different sims have been on great to dream dates and nothing other than a dozen roses . . . ever! :P
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Myth on 2005 October 26, 16:29:19 Sorry I do need to clarify my bad choice of an adjective. The expensive gifts were only from dream dates.
They should have to pay for the gifts! That's cheating! That's only cheating if you are a feminist with lower standards. ;D I wish I would have demanded statues, fountains, pianos and hot tubs when I was in the "pool". My only regret in life is that I never met a handsome sugar daddy! ;) Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: kewian on 2005 October 26, 16:37:23 My alien sim got the dj dance booth plus a dozen roses on her dream date. It must have been real good. Maybe thats a teen thing. Anybody else get the dj booth?
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Muisie on 2005 October 26, 16:42:24 No booth. Got a few pianos, statues, vases, electro dance sphere and a bonsai tree.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 16:48:52 I got the booth last night! From one vampire to another. They're in looooove. She may sell it eventually but right now it has sentimental value. :D My original plan was to have her never work, just live off gifts, and she's gotten a few, but mostly roses, roses, and more roses. Sigh.
Between this sim and her sister I have so many roses I could fill a greenhouse. She's also gotten a statue and a piano. Her sister (who lives with her) got a pinball machine. All items sold for more practical items, especially after the piano wouldn't line up with the wall after they moved. I have the same problem with beds. Oh, well. At least they're worth cash! Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: kewian on 2005 October 26, 16:59:58 I love the roses. I put them on the table and it looks so nice. They like to sit near them too. I just wish I could center them in the middle. I have always hated that about the sims- no centering.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Myth on 2005 October 26, 17:05:43 I always use boolprop snapobjectstogrid false to get my objects centered. It's a great cheat especially when wanting to place objects close together for decor purposes like floor plants for example.
I know you can use the cheat for a coffee table if you want to place an item on it centered, I do not know if the flowers would effect their eating at a dining table though. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 17:37:46 Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose? Ah no, it's always just my luck to get One perfect rose. Dorothy Parker, or possibly my Sim ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 17:44:22 I love the roses. I put them on the table and it looks so nice. Honey, I've got 'em on the mantelpiece (you can fit 3), the coffee table, on end tables, the desk, the floor, the porch, the yard ... I've started leaving 'em where they're left, they've got so many. Three people living in the house (two sisters, one sister's fiance) and they're still in college ... at last count there were 20 dozen roses and one single rose in a vase (off night). That's what happens when a romance sim shares a house with a couple. The house is a buzzin with love. ;) Yes, they're pretty, I agree ... but it's going to be a nightmare figuring out whose are whose when they graduate. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: RainbowTigress on 2005 October 26, 17:52:42 That's what happens when a romance sim shares a house with a couple. The house is a buzzin with love. ;) I have mine put them in their inventory. They can read the card by "view"ing the card on the bouquet. Just make sure the sim viewing isn't one of their lovers because they get really upset!Yes, they're pretty, I agree ... but it's going to be a nightmare figuring out whose are whose when they graduate. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Andygal on 2005 October 26, 17:57:25 anything that is from somebody other then their husband/wife/fiancee goes in their inventory. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: kewian on 2005 October 26, 18:04:13 I love the roses. I put them on the table and it looks so nice. If they just died then you could throw them out. Deletion? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 18:05:54 I kind of like them. They're like notches on the bedpost, only more visible. ;D
Accidents, you say ... I had no idea anyone even read those cards on their own. Heh, heh, heh ... that WILL be interesting once my romance sims move in together ... I love romance sims. They're nothing but trouble. Without trouble the game is just the circle of life, over and over and over ... I like things shaken and stirred, myself. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Assmitten on 2005 October 26, 18:12:59 I like what kewian said...I think they should wilt and die like in the first game. Then your Sim can have the pleasure of recieving fresh ones.
My Sim has gotten many flowers, and a mirror, which seems more realistic than the DJ booth. I wish I could have that date...I could use a couple thousand dollars right now. ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 18:23:12 I had given up on getting anything but roses. When the sisters lived in the dorms they got three prezzies, right in a row, and as soon as they moved to their house, nothing but roses. I thought maybe it went by house, kind of like the house in my old neighborhood where the babies were always twins.
The sim who got the booth had been on four dream dates with the same vampire in three nights (he went home to set the clock back one night, then called her again ...). Sometime during that time he made her a vampire, too. I don't know if sheer quantity, or getting bit, was what earned her that booth, but I think they had woohoo 12 times. Or thereabouts. Yep. Three per date sounds about right. Plus LOTS of makeout sessions. What can I say, they were meant for each other, and it was entirely accidental. I like how the game is programmed to dig deeper than turn ons/offs ... he supposedly likes blondes, for example, and she's got black hair, but their personalities are well matched. Yes, they think about other sims, too ... they're romance sims! But they're always extremely happy to spend time together. :D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? I've had dozens of sims have "dream dates" and nothing, da nada, except roses. ??? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: kewian on 2005 October 26, 19:59:44 IM not sure if it matters but my sim had a date with that townie River in downtown. Could the neighborhood make a difference?
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 26, 20:13:46 I doubt it. My sims are still in college and they have a few presents. Their mom hasn't received any, but she didn't play the field as much ...
Only one sim lives in my main town so far, and she hasn't been on any dates yet, so I can't be certain. I just doubt it makes a difference. For example, one person said that if you live downtown you're likely to have twins and my sims that live there have only had singletons. Of course, I keep my populations down, so I don't have a lot of data yet. I just suspect that gifts, like twins, are random occurrences. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Brynne on 2005 October 26, 20:19:56 Joe, Justin, Josh, and Justin's son Joel each have about 15 bouquets in their inventories. Notches on the bedpost- that's exactly why I keep them! I left one of Justin's bouquets on display in his bedroom so his then-wife could have a look-see at it. She cried lol.
So far the Goth-Bayfield home has gotten 2 dj booths, a stereo, 2 televisions and a statue from successful dates. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2005 October 26, 20:21:21 Too many roses?
Hmmmm...how about planting them outdoors? Could save some $$$ on landscaping costs and maybe even a gardener, since weeds shouldn't sprout. Could name the place Rose Hall. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Ancient Sim on 2005 October 26, 22:23:27 My gifts so far that I can remember are a piano, a statue, a couple of bonsai trees (one from a townie, one from a teen) and a vase, plus a few others I can't recall. Today one of my Sims got some long thin red disco light thing (worth around $330) after an outing, which seemed a bit of a weird choice.
I usually put the bouquets in the inventory once a new one comes from the same Sim. I didn't realise they could be read by other Sims and cause 'problems' - won't be in such a hurry to get rid of them now. Eventually, when the Sim dies, I will surround their gravestone with them. I wonder if the messages will still cause problems then if they're read? What I find annoying about them is that when they go into the inventory, it's no longer possible to see who sent them. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Brynne on 2005 October 26, 22:36:16 Once you take them out of inventory they're readable again. I just tested this with Josh's inventory. I took the bouquet out, had him view, and it was from a sim I'd forgotten he'd even dated!
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Ancient Sim on 2005 October 26, 22:47:28 Once you take them out of inventory they're readable again. I just tested this with Josh's inventory. I took the bouquet out, had him view, and it was from a sim I'd forgotten he'd even dated! Yes, I thought they probably would be. Would just be easier and quicker to be able to go through them in the inventory without having to lay them all out all over the house and get the Sim to read them. Not that I need to, I am just moaning ahead in case I ever have a need to. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 October 27, 20:00:08 Too many roses? Hmmmm...how about planting them outdoors? Could save some $$$ on landscaping costs and maybe even a gardener, since weeds shouldn't sprout. Could name the place Rose Hall. That's exactly what I did ... I have a ruined mansion in the business district inhabited by a pair of romance vampires. They leave the roses scattered about everywhere like fallen lovers ... picturesque imagery, no? I've started a row of them along the edge of their property, which is mostly cement. They just moved in together, so no fireworks yet, but just wait ... they're bound to start. :D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Process Denied on 2005 November 07, 23:08:43 I would like to know how the initial picking of the outing goes. You know when you first move in someone is called for an outing. It doesn't seem fair because it is always the same person. It is okay when the romance sim gets called, but when it is her wealth sister who wants to paint to make money,it's a little annoying. I have a set of sisters that inhabit all my towns (cause I love them so much) and in Pleasantville the romance sister, Baby Girl(--before I knew how to correct it--now it's her name) got all the outings which was okay even though I felt bad for her sister, Taula. But in Veronaville it is her sister who is getting the calls(she really doesn't care--she has gotten a Fleur fountain, piano, kareoke machine, and a expensive stereo, plus a BBQ that we sold but she wants to earn the money and then spend it. Now her sister who has the 20 woohoo wants only knows 10 of her future lovers instead of 15-20. Is there something that will direct the call to the person you want it to go to like most of the time the person who answers the phone is the person the call is for. It doesn't seem to work that way with this. I have them go immediately to the store after moving in so they will meet some townies before the welcome wagon comes but that doesn't work for teens because they have to go to school.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 07, 23:36:31 I've gotten a couple of hot tubs, and a karaoke machine, and a couple of more minor presents. The funny thing is, the last time my Sim got the hot tub, was after her date had caught her cheating on him. He dropped off the roses, caught her, dropped of the hot tub, and then a couple of Sim hours later, started stealing her newspaper and kicking over her trash can! :D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Ms.Perception on 2005 November 08, 00:02:40 The best thing my sim has ever gotten was a Mr. Bearly Butts chair. Post by: Ms.Perception on 2005 November 08, 00:43:25 I put it in the kids room. Figured it would only be nice there. It was the only thing that made any sense in my head. Why would you give your boyfriend a Mr. Bearly Butts chair? He just shelled out a lot of money for that dream date. At the very least she could have dropped off a statue or even a tv or something useful!
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: aussieone on 2005 November 08, 02:44:09 Yep, I put it in the kids room too. It's bloody ugly but one of my Sim kiddies has taken a 'special' liking to it. Until he grows up I don't have the heart to sell it :)
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: dusty on 2005 November 08, 06:09:48 The papergirl bought my teen Romance sim a DJ booth- she must earn far more than I did when I had a paper round. :o I put it in his inventory for him to sell for cash when he's out on his own.
I've also had a sim get a hottub, a pinball game and a garden gnome. They look so funny when they sneak onto the lots and pull something huge out of a garbage bag. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? I took the bouquet out, had him view, and it was from a sim I'd forgotten he'd even dated! I hear you on that I figured out why Justin is furious with Honey. I had forgotten to put a dozen roses back in Honey's inventory and Justin apparently decided to" view " them he must have been bored or something well the roses were from another Sim I had sent honey out on a date with before she ever met Justin. well according to Justin's memories he believes that he caught Honey cheating. he didnt but he thinks he did and he is hurt and angry about something that she hasnt done to him. which is why Justin Slapped her silly and wont sleep in the same bed with her. So here is a tip dont forget to put the flowers back in the inventory. in looking at Honey's Memories she has no clue why Justin is angry. some Sims believe that an affair is going on even though your sim hast seen or heard from this other sim in eons. I would love to call Justin a Glamrod right about now but he wouldnt here me ;DTitle: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: RainbowTigress on 2005 November 08, 07:13:30 Well I don't understand why my sims aren't getting gifts after their dates. I've had several dream dates with the dozen rozes as well as the great ones and good ones with the single roses and love notes. Only once did one of my sims get a fish tank after his dream date with his fiance. I ended up selling it because everyone kept cleaning it constantly and the maid would get stuck cleaning it.
Also I've noticed a bug with the roses if the couple is living in the same house. I don't think it matters if they are married or not. The one who did not initiate the date will get up the next morning with a bouquet of flowers (that materilze out of nowhere) and go all the way down to the front door to put them on the doorstep. That's not the problem. The problem is that the bouquet will then disappear, and the sim will produce another bouquet and place them again, swoon, turn in a circle, and then the bouquet disappears again. So they place another, and so on in an infinite loop. I had her queued to eat since she was about to starve, but I had to cancel her queue and tell her to eat before she would stop. This happened on another lot also. The other weird thing was with a love letter. I have two couples living in this house, and one couple had a date the night before. They were both at work when one of the other sims got home and checked the mail. She took the pink envelope out of the box with the hearts swirling around it. She kissed it and apparently put it in her pocket because it disappeared. It went into her inventory. I took it out, and it was for the other sim who had the date. So why is it going into her inventory? It's not hers! And why do we have to take the letter out of the inventory and have the sim "view" it to see who it's from? We should be able to see that information in the inventory panel. I was hoping to get some gifts for my sims because some of them are just starting out and could really use the money, but no gifts, just roses, which are sweet and romantic, but you can't sell them for anything. :( Where are my hot tubs and stereos??? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Ness on 2005 November 08, 08:33:45 rainbow, I've got the same problem...
I've got buckets of red roses coming out my ears, but only ever once had a piano... it's nust not fair! I don't have the roses glitch when the sims live together - so that's something unique to your game (don't ya just feel so special?!) - but I really want to know where my expensive presents are! Ness Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: C.S. on 2005 November 08, 11:28:30 It's the same thing with my game too, 'stingy' dates, sigh. I've also tried continuous dating throughout the sim day (downtown and home) and it's still roses 'dream dates' after 'dream dates'. I must have done over 20, and only 2 lucky sims have gotten more than a bunch of roses - a DJ booth and a fountain respectively :-\.
Does anyone know what time the dates would usually drop off the gifts, if they were going to drop it off at all? Then I won't waste time watching out for them past the time they were supposed to show up. Oh, and what's with the doorbell ringing? The first time I saw a date (Dirk Dreamer) sneak up to a house (Lilith's), I thought he was gonna drop off a gift and was so excited and curious, turns out he only wants to ring the doorbell, which woke the whole family up. And then he tiptoed out the gate, standing around like he was waiting to be greeted, tiptoed around somemore, then back to the frontdoor to ring the doorbell and back to waiting outside the gate again. When he was finally greeted, he'll say it's late and he better go. Huh ??? What is the purpose in that? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 08, 15:29:47 I've had NL since it came out and I've only had 1 dream date. No, no, I'm not a horrible player. It's quite easy in my opinion. I just haven't taken any Sims on dates. But anyway, the gift I recieved was a vase of roses with a love note, and a Dance Sphere. I take my Sims on dates for a couple of reasons, mainly. Romance Sims are obvious. And the other reason is for when they have wants I can't fulfill for one reason or another, I will set them up on a date, and all of their wants will change to be more in-line with the date, thereby allowing me to get them into platinum mood, and then I can end the date with my Sims in much better moods. I used that to avoid aspiration failure for my Romance Sims, right before they were about to have a baby. ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 November 08, 16:53:18 Rainbow, I've got the same glitch. My married couples drive me nuts with the picking up the roses and putting them back down. Sometimes they stop on their own, sometimes they need help.
The gifts are definitely random. I was going to have a romance sim support herself that way but after receiving the bust of that dead roman guy and a piano she now only receives roses. Her yard (if you can call it that, since she lives on cement) is littered with them, either for her or her husband. Just for fun I had them read each other's roses. Man, was that a fight. I thought he'd never forgive her. It's hard to see a grown vampire cry. I never should have moved my sims out of their first dorm. They received three gifts in a row there and after they moved to a rented house ... only roses. I wonder if they would have gotten more gifts if I'd left them in the dorm. Also, just a cute little aside: my male, definitely straight, vampire went on an outing that turned out pretty well (not perfect, but not bad either) and afterwards another guy left him a gift! He got a "bit o' this and that" but since he rarely eats he sold it for cash. That's what gifts are for, right? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Regina on 2005 November 08, 17:41:43 I've gotten a couple of hot tubs, and a karaoke machine, and a couple of more minor presents. My sim had just come home from a date and called another sim for a date. Instead of heading straight for a community lot, I had her come over to his house first (wasn't thinking about the other date bringing roses) and here she comes carrying a lovely dozen roses and caught him cheating. I was thinking, 'Oh great! There goes the door prize!' Low and behold, a few hours after he got home from his other date she returned with a huge sculpture! Then his second date brought a karaoke machine. That particular sim was the recipient of two pianos, one karaoke machine, one telescope, a DJ station, a bust sculpture and possibly something else even. Ah but he was a happy sim until his girlfriends started getting wise! Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 November 08, 17:53:42 Hope he realizes how lucky he is. Or rather, was.
Has anyone had married couples give each other a gift? Or does it only work if they don't live together? Just curious. I've got a married couple who have only dated each other (no gifts, only roses). They've got 13 dozen roses lining their front walk. They need one more dream date to even it up, LOL, and then there won't be any more room. Maybe they'll have to fence their yard in them too ... :D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Regina on 2005 November 08, 18:30:25 So far I've never had a sim that's living with another bring a gift other than the roses, and I've had married sims go on quite a few dates.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 08, 18:40:07 Same here, no gifts from couples that live in the same house.
That little girl, Meadow, though, has brought over quite a few presents. I grew her to adult, hoping that gift train will keep coming! ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? And the other reason is for when they have wants I can't fulfill for one reason or another, I will set them up on a date, and all of their wants will change to be more in-line with the date, thereby allowing me to get them into platinum mood, and then I can end the date with my Sims in much better moods. I used that to avoid aspiration failure for my Romance Sims, right before they were about to have a baby. ;D Oooh. That's a good idea. Whenever I'm low on aspirations points, I'll have them go on a date. Or maybe just call the gypsy for a dream date, so the date arrives and starts at the house. I hate loading community lots. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Bangelnuts on 2005 November 08, 21:15:34 I've had NL since it came out and I've only had 1 dream date. No, no, I'm not a horrible player. It's quite easy in my opinion. I just haven't taken any Sims on dates. But anyway, the gift I recieved was a vase of roses with a love note, and a Dance Sphere. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Brynne on 2005 November 08, 21:18:12 I never even thought about the gifts being related to the giver's aspiration. Interesting.
But why would Brandi Broke leave a DJ Booth, then? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Dark Trepie on 2005 November 08, 21:50:35 I never even thought about the gifts being related to the giver's aspiration. Interesting. But why would Brandi Broke leave a DJ Booth, then? If that were the case then Brandi would be leaving her date a baby crib as a gift and send the poor guy into a paniced frenzy thinking that something more than a little woo-hoo happened in that photobooth. ;D Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 08, 22:24:43 LOL Trepie. ;D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Bangelnuts on 2005 November 08, 22:28:24 I never even thought about the gifts being related to the giver's aspiration. Interesting. personality and interest has a lot to do with what a family sim will leave. Does Brandi Like to Dance in your game? if so there lies the reason for the DJ booth and not a baby crib...... also I think Maxis has it programmed as to what types of gifts can bre brought by a sim and I doubt seriously that nursery furniture would be programmed as a gift to a date ;D for example Joel, Justin's son likes to sing Karaoke so he brought the roses of course and a while Later he left Gvaudoin a Karaoke Machine :)But why would Brandi Broke leave a DJ Booth, then? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Baa on 2005 November 08, 23:03:38 Are you sure it depends on their aspiration and Simology?
I married in some rich townie and she just had an inventory stocked full of items, all kinds. Chairs, DJ Booths, etc. Things she'd leave from a bad date, and things she'd give a bad date. I think they are just strapped with items in their inventory, and depending on the "goodness" of the date, they leave a more expensive item. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: baratron on 2005 November 08, 23:07:23 Also I've noticed a bug with the roses if the couple is living in the same house. My sims Mitch & Max are so in love that their Dream Dates last 24 sim hours or more. They constantly spin up wants to Make Out or Woohoo and it has a tremendous effect on their mood. Every few hours they get the Dream Date energy boost and the date just carries on! Anyway, so they get home, tired out after the date (as you'd expect, with it having gone on for 24 hours) and I put them to bed. They sleep for about half an hour, and then whichever one got taken on the date suddenly springs out of bed, runs downstairs, pulls the bouquet of flowers out of his arse (literally - the bouquet doesn't appear in the inventory until he gets to the front door), puts it down, and stands there admiring it. I have to make him go back upstairs to bed, or he'd stand there all day. Silly sims. I need love letters for a story I'm writing! I found buyable bouquets & the single rose vase at MTS2, but I need a massive stack of love letters. Has anyone unlocked them yet? Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: PlaidSquirrel on 2005 November 08, 23:15:55 Has anyone ever gotten more than roses or candy for a first date? Maybe only multiple dates get gifts.
I had a girl go on a date where the first one went okay but coulda been better. A few minutes after it ended she asked him on another date and it started. That turned into a dream date. She got roses and then a statue that night. Presumably one for each date. Roses for the first of course and the statue for the second. I don't ever remember getting a gift for a first date. Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 08, 23:25:05 On the first date with Meadow as a teen, my Sim got an SSX3 machine. Since my Sims aren't allowed to have TV's, I sold it for some § ;D
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Brynne on 2005 November 08, 23:40:15 I, personally, think the gifts might be random. Brandi does not like to dance (funny to picture, though). And I know for certain that there was no DJ booth in her inventory when she dropped it off.

Post by: BlueSoup on 2005 November 09, 00:16:19 I hate the TV's, even with the volume reduction cheat. Sometimes I'll put one in for aesthetic reasons, but I usually end up taking it out before the night's end. :P
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Andygal on 2005 November 09, 00:36:04 My sims always have TVs. I like them because they fill up fun fast and (unlike stupid SSX3 on the computer) they will stop watching as soon as you tell them to do something else unlike with aforementioned stupid SSX3 when it takes them FOREVER to get the hell off.
Title: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Bangelnuts on 2005 November 09, 01:47:31 I, personally, think the gifts might be random. Brandi does not like to dance (funny to picture, though). And I know for certain that there was no DJ booth in her inventory when she dropped it off. I have noticed the gift doesnt have to be in their inventory. on the last date Joe had with Brandi He gave Brandi a 12th century ming vase . however Joe doesnt own any 99 cent vases let alone a ming vase. he also gave Brandi a Stereo the 2500 simoleon variety. he has one in his house and it was still there after he gave Brandi one. all Joe has in his inventory is cologne and Vampricillin. Justin on the other hand has an inventory Jam packed with stuff but he gave Honey a font when they wee Dating and he doesnt have any of those in his inventory. Joel's inventory was empty but he gave Gvaudoin a Karaoke machine on their first date. speaking of Joel I was just checking his wants and LTW he wants to go to college make out with 3 sims ,fall in love with yet another sim and get engaged to Gvaudoin Tricou. His LTW is to become a celebrity chef :-\ Justin has the same LTW.............I didnt know teens had wants for engagements ???. however I may let him go to Uni when I send Gvaudoin as there is a real shortage of teen females in my hood. the teen females in the hood are Gvaudoin,Chloe,KimberlyTricou and Jaiden Tricou. Teen males are Joel,Jory,Jude,Fricorith,Tyrone,Armando,Kacper,Ronan and Damion Tricou. the ratio gets a bit better with children and Ireally dont want Justin's boys with "shudder' some of those mudfence dormies that always arrive. James is married now to a Female who has been in my game since I Created her as a child in Cas and she is permaplat after one day at work . she entered the military at level 9 Just out of Uni. its funny in the photos all the Goth-Bayfiled-Danforth Wives are Visibly Pregnant . the only female Guests that were there not pregnant is Bella,Shellie,Lexie and Tiffany. Brynne you forgot to tell me hat the Bayfiled Men are super Fertile ;DTitle: Re: Roses PLUS a hot tub?? Post by: Witches on 2005 November 09, 14:56:34 Quote I need love letters for a story I'm writing! I found buyable bouquets & the single rose vase at MTS2, but I need a massive stack of love letters. Has anyone unlocked them yet? Yes, I did. I'm at work, so I don't have the exact wording, but it said something like, "If you're wondering, should I call again, you should." Or something like that. Anyway, she didn't. She doesn't like him that much. :D And beg to differ about romance sims leaving expensive gifts after a bang-up date. I had two romance sims go on a date that should have been "triple dream date" they racked up so many points. They didn't live together at the time, though I've since had them get married (yes, I know, I'm cruel). Roses. That's all she got for 7 woohoos on one date. One stinking bunch of roses. >:( On another occasion, I got a pinball machine from a knowledge sim, so unless he was trying to teach her the laws of physics, I'm still of the opinion that the giving of gifts, and the gift itself, is a random thing. Title: Noooo! Not the Jump Bug! Post by: baratron on 2005 November 11, 20:06:07 Also I've noticed a bug with the roses if the couple is living in the same house. This happened on another lot also. Egads! After saying I didn't have that error - I GOT THAT ERROR! Max reset three or four times while trying to place the bouquet, and I had to cancel the action to get him to do anything. And now he has full-blown jump bug ::). It started last night, the sim day after he started "looping" in the bouquet placing, and within a few minutes real-time it rendered the whole lot unplayable. I was trying to play in debug mode to set up some photos, and quite literally every second an error message would appear in the middle of screen telling me that object Max had an "unexplained transition" - cancel, reset, delete? Cancelling or resetting just made the error reappear, and of course Deleting would delete the sim himself. Couldn't do A Thing. I don't know what it is that's caused this jump bug: I have two possible culprits: 1) Too many memories - from the Dream Date Spam. (Mitch & Max have had more than 6 dream dates). 2) That weird error where two sims make out in the hot tub, and as a result get memories of kissing themselves (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=969.0). I'm inclined to blame the latter rather than the former, because only Max has a "Kissed himself For The First Time" memory - Mitch doesn't. Max is "jumping" out of every single action, whereas Mitch is only jumping out of interactions with Max. And they generally go everywhere together and meet the same people, so they have roughly equal numbers of other visible memories - obviously, I have no idea about the invisible memories. Max probably has more of those, because he is a Popularity sim and has a LTW of 20 Simultaneous Best Friends (he's up to 16 at the moment). So I'm just off to replace that family with a backup and hope it helps. Haven't played anyone else recently because I've been busy writing their story. And now I don't dare play anyone else until I'm sure that the game isn't going to explode into a BFBVFS. Gah >:(. |
