Title: Is there a way NOT to snap one sim to another's hand? Post by: Strangel on 2008 January 30, 17:01:35 Okay, I searched.. I swear I did.. but do you know how many threads come up with "attach hand sim"?
I'm working on an image competition and I need to get a "family portrait" using snapobjectstogrid false, but the problem is when one sim comes too close to another, they pop horizontal, their feet attached to a nearby sim's hand. Is there ANY way to kill this magnetic attraction? Title: Re: Is there a way NOT to snap one sim to another's hand? Post by: bowrain on 2008 January 30, 17:48:20 Yeah that always bothered me too. But most of the times with a patience I somehow managed to put them close to each other without being snapped together like that.

Have you tried preesing M, btw? That moves objects around on shelves, but I've never tried to use it for anything else. Title: Re: Is there a way NOT to snap one sim to another's hand? Post by: Ellatrue on 2008 January 30, 19:12:13 Are you also using move_objects on? You can also play with the camera angle to make it look like sims are doing stuff they can't do in the game. Holding hands would be one of them.
Can they hold hands when walking to another lot? I haven't tried it yet. Title: Re: Is there a way NOT to snap one sim to another's hand? Post by: Zazazu on 2008 January 30, 21:07:22 They always leave single-file for me when walking to another lot.

Post by: Strangel on 2008 January 31, 13:03:14 Yes to moveobjects on, I don't have anything past Seasons so I've yet to see them walk off-lot, and I'd never heard of hitting M. Thanks for the suggestions, the next time the game's open I'll be trying out M and stuffing the spot with objects. Something that just occurred to me was the OMSP... I could try those and see if it keeps them from registering that another sim is close by.

This is an extremely useful function, especially if you have OFB. You can move objects between slots on OFB shelves/small dressers/bay window/BV collectible shelf/counter decorative slots etc. I don't think OMSP would work, as Sims cannot be placed on the end tables or coffee tables even with moveobjects cheat on. You put the sim on the tray, and then you can put the tray anywhere that a tray can go. Or at least that's what I remember... I haven't actually used them.

Use the magidisplaytrays from ofb - you know, the clear ones that are made to sit on counters. Place a sim on it then you can move them as close as you want to another sim without them snapping to their hand. Something else I discovered - you can place the trayed sim on any of the OMSP blocks (from MTS) to have them appear at different heights for picture purposes. For example, you can make a toddler look like it's sitting on a bed if you put the tray on the OMSP for beds. Oh, and you'll have to have an invisible recolor for the magidisplaytray, if you don't want to see it in the picture. I don't remember where I got mine from. :-\ It shouldn't be too hard to hunt down though. One last thing, While on the tray, the sim becomes uninteractable, so if they're in the middle of going something with another sim, you might want to take them off the tray before unpausing. I've pestered people many times, trying to find a way to do this. THANK YOU. |
