Title: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 22, 19:23:00 I hesitate to ask for help here although I'm a long-time member. It has become so hostile and downright nasty in recent times. What the hell I'll ask anyway.
Due to the terminal meltdown of the motherboard on my old machine I had only played Seasons for a day or so before my PowerMac was no more. There was a four-month gap before I could afford to replace it with a MacPro during which I could not play S2 at all. All I had was an elderly PowerBook G4, its ears were old and bent, its knees were knackered. It could no more run S2 than I could be a fat obstroperous jerk. To get to the point. The setting hairstyles by outfit just does not work for me. I set it...nothing happens. No point asking anywhere else. I'll risk the standard howls of derision in the hope of a sensible solution. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: cenoura on 2008 January 22, 20:22:54 The setting hairstyles by outfit just does not work for me. I set it...nothing happens. Need more information or pictures. How do you set it? What happens? Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 22, 20:44:30 I set it in the normal way, Through the sim screen, Then it does not work. Hairstyle stays the same.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: cenoura on 2008 January 22, 21:11:56 "I set it the normal way" does not help. I need to know if you're actually doing it the right way of if you just think you are.
At the risk of sounding patronising, here's how you should do it: Click the icon that allows you to set hairstyles by outfit. More icons will become selectable. Click each icon to bring up the page of hairstyles allowed for that outfit. Chose a different one for one of the outfits, EG change so your Sim is wearing a hat with outewear. Save changes, ethier by going to the next step in CAS (if you're in CAS) or saving changes if your standing you Sim at a mirror. Change to outerwear. Is your Sim wearing the hat you chose? At what point are things going wrong? Are you able to SELECT hairstyles by outfit, or are the extra icons not un-greying? Screenshots of what you are actually doing, showing where the process is going wrong, would be very helpful. So would a more descriptive post title so that more people read your post, and maybe someone who has had this problem will be able to recognise this and tell you what to do. FAKE EDIT: Have you tried it at both the mirror and CAS? Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 22, 22:21:01 The usual way. In Outfits. Where the teensy weeny icons are and where you select by outfit. Christ on a bike folks I'm not stupid just mac-using.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: lemonfresh on 2008 January 22, 22:31:40 I don't think anyone was attempting to imply you are stupid, just requesting more information about the problem you are having. There are a number of people that had problems figuring out how to get the hair per outfit thing to work. Your initial post doesn't really provide any information other than "It doesn't work". If you want help, you'll have to explain what you are doing that isn't getting results.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 22, 22:38:56 Well see above. In Outfits, Where it gives you Everyday, Swim. PJ's etc.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Assmitten on 2008 January 22, 22:48:52 I don't think anyone was attempting to imply you are stupid, just requesting more information about the problem you are having. Ayshllyn, despite having a good sense of humor, has been slammed here quite a lot. Not surprising she has her hackles up. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Shake on 2008 January 22, 23:10:33 Well see above. In Outfits, Where it gives you Everyday, Swim. PJ's etc. Wrong. You do it when you select the basic hairstyle. Outfits is farther down the list than Hair/Head/Face button. Think a bit. Once you get to the basic hair, there are a row of icons going downwards. Select the top most one, and that will unlock the lower ones. Now use the lower ones to select specifically what hair you want per outfit. NOT when picking the outfit itself. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: lemonfresh on 2008 January 22, 23:14:42 Well see above. In Outfits, Where it gives you Everyday, Swim. PJ's etc. Ok... Did you do a complete, fresh install when you got the ability to play again, or did you just transfer everything from your old computer? Have you added any new EPs or SPs? If you have CC/mods/hacks, have you checked for updates? If you have CC, have you tried removing it to see if it's a custom hair that's causing this? Have you tried turning on testing cheats to see if any kind of error msg pops up? If you're using the mirror/change appearance, is it a CC mirror? Ayshllyn, despite having a good sense of humor, has been slammed here quite a lot. Not surprising she has her hackles up. No, it's completely understandable. And I'm certain the frustration caused by S2 doing random and completely unreasonable things doesn't help. :P Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Zazazu on 2008 January 22, 23:15:47 Feh, I think she's just not describing it clearly enough. Ayslhyn, I've had problems since Seasons with that feature not working consistently. Is it never working for you, or sporadically working?
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Shake on 2008 January 22, 23:22:26 I believe she just isn't looking in the right place, but I could be wrong.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: lemonfresh on 2008 January 22, 23:29:20 I believe she just isn't looking in the right place, but I could be wrong. I believe overly opinionated 12 year olds should LURK MOAR! Especially if they aren't going to add anything remotely helpful to the thread. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Shake on 2008 January 22, 23:37:12 12? This site takes off 3 years it seems. 1992/12/08 is what it is set to.
Oh yeah, if you want some psychological proof that I'm not lieing, I wouldn't put 12 as my age because I would seem too young. Moron. Oh yeah, if you want some psychological proof that I'm not lieing, I wouldn't put 12 as my age because I would seem too young. Moron. Snake, great way to show you didn't read the FAQ. Otherwise you would know that ages go by a rule of 6 here. You are 12 on MATY until you are 18. Works for all ages, not just teens - my MATY age is 42 and will stay at that until I turn 48. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 22, 23:49:32 I know how to do it. Assmitten do cut out the patronising.
Oh forget it Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: notovny on 2008 January 22, 23:55:40 [Post and Images deleted as poster no longer desires aid.]

Well that's strange. ??? Don't think I've run into that. Might as well destroy that birthdate for now. Notovny just explained what I said using screenshots. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: lemonfresh on 2008 January 23, 00:08:00 I know how to do it. Assmitten do cut out the patronising. Oh forget it Well if you're just going to emo-flounce at every reply, it's no wonder people give you crap. You either want help or you don't. Expecting everyone to develop telepathy and magically provide the solution to all your problems in a syrupy tone is not an option. Soup to the BBS or one of those other forums where hugs and kisses flow freely, or suck it up and learn to ignore the less useful posters here. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 00:08:28 I know how to do it. Assmitten do cut out the patronising. Oh forget it Well, when you can't even get the name of the person that is ACTUALLY being patronising right, how can you be mad at people assuming that you don't know how to change hairstyles correctly? For the record: I don't think anyone was attempting to imply you are stupid, just requesting more information about the problem you are having. Ayshllyn, despite having a good sense of humor, has been slammed here quite a lot. Not surprising she has her hackles up. Assmitten is not the same as Snake. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 23, 00:10:57 Forget it anyway. I should have known better than to come to MATY. You lot cannot do anything without turning it into an argument.
I knew there was a reason I quit posting on here. Thanks for reminding me what it was. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 00:12:57 You would get help, if you would explain yourself better, but when you put up vague things like "it doesn't work when I do it" then how can you expect detailed answers?
Vague descriptions = Vague answers. Like "Click on the icon to unlock the other categories" Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 23, 00:22:04 No matter, I'll ask elsewhere
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 00:26:49 Well, wouldn't mind helping you if you gave MOAR INFO. The information you are giving is not helping anyone figure out your problem. Because we don't even know WHERE it is not working?
You haven't even mentioned if this is a CAS sim or a sim using a mirror... How can we HELP if you won't EXPLAIN these things? No one at another site will be able to help you either unless you can provide CLEAR INFO. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 00:27:56 Double posting to add:

Wow, I was really fond of her as a poster, and was trying to put in a nice word. I think she really was talking to me. Ah well. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Zazazu on 2008 January 23, 01:46:37 She is. Whiny little emo brat.
This place is great for help. We aren't assholes. You just can't give almost no detail and expect any answer other than a request for clarification. That's what you got. You took offense to it, and it all went downhill from there. Expect to be persecuted and you will be persecuted. The reverse may not always be true, but the original is. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: witch on 2008 January 23, 04:11:41 ...I hesitate to ask for help here although I'm a long-time member. It has become so hostile and downright nasty in recent times... If you diss the site on the first line of your first post asking for help, things can only go downhill. That does seem to be a self-evident truth. It's like telling someone, "You're fat and smelly and stupid and stuff, but I've been your neighbor for a long time. So, like, can I borrow your new silk blouse? Never mind which one, or when I need it, or even what I plan to wear with it, or if it will fit me properly...just gimme. KTHNXBAI!" I'm glad someone else saw what was going on. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 16:39:52 Well, if she did manage to find help somewhere else, I hope she comes back and lets us know what was wrong, so the next time we have someone that goes: "IT NO WOK YRITE!" We'll know what to tell them.

I'm glad someone else saw what was going on. We oldhat MATYians are SMRT like that. Also, Jelenedra, I love how your two titles combine. That's awesome with extra sauce on top. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Assmitten on 2008 January 23, 18:27:25 I hope this doesn't make ste "old hat." Hee hee.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 23, 18:46:00 I like it, too. I giggled when I noticed it the first time. :D
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 24, 20:06:48 My apologies to all concerned. I was in a terrible mood and never should have posted.
I'm not a witch (even though I may have the nose. And a hat) but hey even we witches ERM...normal folk have off days. Oh OK it's a fair cop. I weigh more than a duck. Therefore.... :D Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Shake on 2008 January 24, 23:41:12 So do you still have a problem? Or did the vague explainations help you?
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Kyna on 2008 January 25, 09:17:24 My apologies to all concerned. I was in a terrible mood and never should have posted. I'm not a witch (even though I may have the nose. Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 25, 20:13:25 You got better!
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: cwykes on 2008 January 26, 13:09:18 I've never got this hairstyle thing to work either. The in game 'change appearance' screen looks clear enough, but I must be missing something as as changes don't seem to save along the way. Guess I'll have to try it again and make some step by step notes if I want to figure it out!
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Shake on 2008 January 26, 21:57:51 Well, specifically, what steps are you going through that doesn't work?
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 28, 17:13:06 Be sure that you are not selecting the new hairstyles and then clicking the icon in the upper left corner to collaspe the categories. You do that, and all the hairstyles get reset.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Ayslhyn on 2008 January 28, 21:23:15 Ah HAH my old bugbear. Custom content (and very like a deal too much) NOW I get it
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 28, 21:54:09 Bwuh?
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: lemonfresh on 2008 January 29, 06:22:28 I'm guessing that was meant to inform us that the OP was indeed collapsing the categories afterwards... or a custom hair was causing the issue.
I could be wrong about both though, and the OP may just be indulging in a nip or three of something highly alcoholic in nature and posting nonsense. ;) Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: Jelenedra on 2008 January 29, 15:37:05 Unless it was incredibly buggy custom hair, I'm going to guess that they were collasping the categories. Since I've never had a problem using custom hair to get things done.
Title: Re: Hopefully Post by: cwykes on 2008 February 02, 18:19:16 I think that's what I was doing.... oooops & thanks
