Title: Life Stories - which version of awesome hacks to use? Post by: snowyrat on 2008 January 06, 13:40:43 After a longer search here, couldn't find the answer to this question. (For my feeble justification, the often used "LS" does not really qualify as a meaningful search word). Is it always the most recent version (like now under BV folder), or some earlier "level"?
I found this thread about compatible hacks: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7329.0.html (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7329.0.html), but being from February/April 2007, it doesn't answer this question either. It is really annoying to play LS without the awesome hacks I am used to with the main game. Therefore hoping, that someone could kindly help. Thanks. Post by: snowyrat on 2008 January 06, 14:03:59 Thank you. I've lost the track of the release dates, thinking probably that OFB was the most recent EP at that time.
Anyway, thanks for the answer & quick solution! :) Title: Re: Life Stories - which version of awesome hacks to use? Post by: SaraMK on 2008 January 06, 14:37:55 LS appears to be most compatible with OFB-compatible hacks, despite the fact that you wouldn't think LS has anything from OFB in it.
You definitely DO NOT want to use any hack made for any EP after OFB. It will not be compatible with LS due to the big changes in code that were made in the later EPs to accommodate pets and weather. Title: Re: Life Stories - which version of awesome hacks to use? Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2008 January 06, 14:50:26 Life stories is not an officially supported configuration of game, due to its gross insuperiority and zero extensibility potential. If you have the REAL game, it is recommended you play that instead. As a rule, hacks will disrupt your ability to play Life Stories due to the story hook modifications in the game, and it is recommended that you play with the minimalist requirements, like Manual Nav, No Route Fail, Less Whiny, the Macro tools, coffeecup hack, Don't Wave At Me, and the Debugger. That should be all you need to finish the stupid game with your sanity intact and get back to the Real Thing.

I just noticed that I forgot to put in my usual warning about Vincent's story. There's a stuckage issue, so it's recommended that you save your game immediately prior to allowing any stargazing to take place (at nearly the end of the story). And pick a wide open space in which to do the stargazing. Title: Re: Life Stories - which version of awesome hacks to use? Post by: snowyrat on 2008 January 06, 23:48:50 Thanks to everyone for very helpful answers.
And I promise solemnly, from now on, to spend even more time with the REAL game. :) (LS runs on a friend's old laptop, that I am sometimes using). |
