Title: Trogdor
Post by: Sandilou on 2005 October 21, 04:04:32
I did the usual internet search on Trogdor and even played the game.  Its principles form the infrastructure of part of this website.  At the risk of being burninated - any particular reason why?

I think it appeals to JM's personality.

That's a stupid question. Does the phrase "BURNINATING THE COUNTRYSIDE, BURNINATING THE PEASANTS!" mean nothing to you?

Oh I get that bit.. but are the peasants the people here or the people over at the BBS - or both?
The bit I can't figure out is why a Trogdor would be so helpful.  Without the armoury, I would have been gameless for months.  I want my lips, so I won't offer thanks.

The other bit I'm still speculating on is why it takes 6 weeks for JM to get his new games.  It must be one of two options:
 1.  Young JM has to wait until Christmas for his present.
 2.  Old JM has to wait for the governor to approve security measures that allow the game to enter his cell (oops, bunker).

There is of course the loosely based official version:  the game is air dropped onto JM's land, but it takes 6 weeks for land mine clearance to kick in.  Only after decoding his own maps can JM work out how to safely collect his game.  Just imagine how many copies of Nightlife have already been blown up due to poor landings.

Maybe this link will help:

PS - You'll need a MacroMedia Flash Player to get the full effect.

Any internet user whose browser does not have Flash installed deserves to be smacked. There's no reason not to install it and it comes pre-installed in IE with XP now...

Dunno, I've had issues with some previous versions of Firefox and Macromedia Flash, says it's installing then doesn't. Not everyone runs their PCs the Microsoft way you know...

I have Flash installed, but AdBlock won't let any .SWF content display.  Is that good enough for you?

There's no deep symbolism. The peasants don't stand for anything. It comes down to one thing: DRAGONS SETTING PEOPLE ON FIRE IS FUNNY.

I repeat: Dragons setting people on fire is funny.

'Tis one of many reasons why I don't want to try FireFox. It seems to be incompatible with a lot of things I use on a regular basis, like the Flash Player plugin for example.

I use Firefox and Flash works fine for me.

It works for me with the latest version. Think of Firefox as a hack The Cheat, you gotta expect some glitches on the way to perfection. ;)

I've run into a couple sites that aren't the way they should be in Firefox, but I blame that on the site rather than the browser. I could never go back to relying on IE for day to day things. Firefox is the best I've used and it's only getting better.

Firefox has tabs. IE doesn't. This is all I need to know.

Umm, isn't AOL like, The Internet?  :o

Actually, I started using Firefox a couple of months ago, and I love it.  I love the tabs and the different skins and extensions you can get.  One even makes it easy to load a page in IE if desired.  Once in a while I will use IE if a page doesn't look right in Firefox, but that is rare.  It's gaining popularity all the time so more people are building their sites with that in mind.

Nah...I meant IE, coz it's coded directly into the operating system.  AOL is just as bad, I'm sure.

I can't recall getting a virus since I installed Firefox, or a hijacked browser...and I don't even have or want SP2.

I've hardly had any popups with firefox. Such a big relief. Popups are so annoying.

Ditch IE now, Firefox is the browser of the future.

I was checking into firefox because everyone is crazy about and that want me to pay for it. Sorry but IE is good enough and its free. IF I have to pay it better come to my house and do my laundry and clean.

Firefox is free, you should be able to download it directly from the Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/) website.

Funny, I haven't had one popup with IE since I installed Service Pack 2 when it came out.

But seriously, SP2's built-in popup blocker in IE works pretty well. And, contrary to popular belief when it first came out, SP2 is not bad for your computer.  :o

FireFox is completely free.

It has tabs and oodles and oodles of cool extensions such as a spell checker, search inlets, etc without spyware. Although it sucks at playing music. It'll always say I'm missiing the quicktime plugin when quicktime is installed.

I like Firefox overall, but I find it seems to use ridiculous amounts of my CPU when I have certain sites open. The Sims 2 BBS is a good example, Gamespot is another. If I have one of those sites open, Firefox will use around 60% or more of my CPU, which is a little annoying when I'm trying to play a game.

Agreed Firefox uses more of the system, a hit I'm willing to take. Although, I don't have nay broswers open when I play anyway. Just sucks of memeory regardless.

Thought you were serious for a sec...

IMO, FireFox is just more stable than IE. Easier to use and is open source which makes it a huge hit with techies and hackers (thus making it less likely to be attacked by said techies/hacker). Secure, free, TABS!, RSS...what's not to love?

Yes, Yes, Yes, iTunes (http://www.itunes.com)

I was afraid of that, but I tried to convey sarcasm with the little smiley thingie there, but it's not always easy to convey sarcasm with text.  :P :-\ ??? :D

I hate AOL.

Yeah, I always shut down all my other windows before playing sims 2. I might be able to get away with running both now becaue I just added 256 extra megs of RAM to my computer but it would probably lag horribly.
