Title: Missing base game graphics
Post by: Yolu on 2007 December 22, 00:50:53
I loaded up my game some time ago and found this:

And my game crashes anytime I try to move sims into a maxis lot.

With a bit of searching I've:
1. Discovered that the most likely cause is  a corrupt object file
2. Replaced the file (as well as the other object0.. files) from the compressed zip of my original cd - no luck.
3. Carried out a complete uninstall/reinstall - this seemed to solve the problem until I put my saved games and downloads back in.
4. Did another uninstall/reinstall without putting the saved games and downloads in as well as marking both TSdata/Res/Objects and Sims3D folders read-only.

The same problem persists and I really have no clue what to do next at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had that problem about a year ago, but it was the trees and clouds in the neighborhood screen that looks like that. Turned out it was a corrupted cd, I borrowed my friends' base game and it works just fine. Didn't know that you can get a replacement disk, I ended up buying the base game again :-\

Thanks for replying :) I managed to get my hands on another copy and reinstalled but with the same outcome. It's really quite baffling  :-\

Got anything in your downloads that override these textures?

Nope. This is a brand spanking new clean untainted install. There isn't even a downloads folder.
