Title: Family Size Restriction Post by: mk on 2007 December 18, 11:26:40 Does anyone know if there is a hack compatible with Bon Voyage to remove the normal game limit yet, or is possibly even willing to make one?
I eventually found that the hack I had was the cause of a lot of problems I was having in game so it's had to be removed. This leaves me with one family of twelve sims that presumably I can't play at the moment. I've had a look in the usual places, but it doesn't seem that there are any updated for Bon Voyage available. Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 December 18, 11:32:10 I believe no hack is presently required to remove that limit, it can be removed in-game with a code.
Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: mk on 2007 December 18, 12:32:01 Sounds great if that would be possible. Any idea on the code? Did a quick search and also called up the cheat commands help in game but couldn't see anything obvious.
Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: Inge on 2007 December 18, 15:24:53 Actually I was beginning to wonder if I need some hack to limit family size, since I have had ACR my sims have been busy stuffing their houses as full as possible. I never realised "Try for baby" was going to be *quite* that attractive to them, with all the other things to choose on their Casual menu!
Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: mk on 2007 December 18, 16:26:57 Not had that much of a problem with 'try for baby' from ACR, but then I rarely allow too much autonomy. AFAIK there are plenty of options in the ACR overrides for stopping them trying too often. There is also the morning after pill. Not sure how long that remains valid, but I have used it in the past.
As far as my game is concerned, I think I'll back it up, and then play the problem household just to see what happens. Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: Zazazu on 2007 December 18, 16:39:51 You can always hack the hack, too. I think TJ had instructions in one of the readme's that come with the hack. I've thought about doing so a few times, but it hasn't annoyed me enough yet. Usually, if I want them to have less than the three all non-Pleasure/Romance couples tend to want, I turn the override over to "Never Try".
Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: Process Denied on 2007 December 18, 16:51:53 I had a large family and as I recall, I was able to play them and I also had one that was pregnant and she delivered the baby just fine even though it was well over the limit. I believe that it only calculates the family size when you are trying to add someone or have a baby. Obviously, you won't be able to add anyone else, and you won't have everyone in the family picture. I would still back it up in case something goes wrong.

Code: uintProp maxTotalSims x+y Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: simsfreq on 2007 December 18, 17:35:24 I don't see any reason why they should be unplayable, since it's always been possible to create families larger than 8 using the tombstone of life and death, but if what you want is to be able to have babies born into larger households you will need the cheat venusy posted.

Such a nice use of commas, but one more is needed. Grammar Day 2007 - thank you for participating. One of the sims is pregnant so the cheat was very much needed. Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: kutto on 2007 December 18, 23:30:36 Do the variables "x" and "y" actually work, or will I need to plug in an arbitrary number?
Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: Strangel on 2007 December 18, 23:57:11 Arbitrary number = x, y, and x+y. For instance.. x=5 y=7 so "x+y" should be 12

I solve problems by avoiding them. ;D Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: simsfreq on 2007 December 19, 11:37:00 I don't see any reason why they should be unplayable, since it's always been possible to create families larger than 8 using the tombstone of life and death, but if what you want is to be able to have babies born into larger households you will need the cheat venusy posted. Don't feel bad iZazu, at least the Oxford University Press agrees with you. ;) http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/grammar/archive/apostrophes01.html A casual search on Google shows that there is some controversy surrounding the use apostrophes to indicate the plural of unusual noun forms. It's not hard to find references for either position. Title: Re: Family Size Restriction Post by: notveryawesome on 2007 December 21, 21:24:36 I generally use the term 'readme file(s)' (or 'documentation', depending on how snooty I want to sound) in order to avoid awkwardness.
