Title: System 32 Configuration? Post by: summerbliz on 2007 October 31, 21:10:53 You know, this is the only place that I can find decent and direct answers to any type of computer ( hardware or software) problems. Unfortunatley, I'm back again, with another ( probably stupid) question.
What is exactly a system 32 configuration? Can it be corrupted by playing custom content with Sims 2? Title: Re: System 32 Configuration? Post by: ZiggyDoodle on 2007 November 01, 02:23:45 Essentially, System32 is a Windoze OS system directory/folder containing .exe files, DLLs and other important little tidbits necessary for your OS to run.
Doubtful that CC is going to corrupt it. Trojans and their ilk can do damage. What error message(s) are you receiving? Title: Re: System 32 Configuration? Post by: summerbliz on 2007 November 01, 03:01:30 Thanks for responding. Periodically my whole system shuts down, after playing BV. Either the game freezes or the computer restarts.
1. Upon restarting, the computer informs me that it has a boot failure and to reboot with the cd. 2. I put in the cd, to restart windows. A. sometimes windows will start on its own. B. most of the time it tells me that the system 32 configuration is corrupted, and to press R for repair. C. If I shut it down for about half an hour, then restart it , it works fine. ( for a while) My computer started to act up when I accidently put an old dowloaded lot on a beach lot. I'm bad. Deleted the lot. I have uninstalled BV, and reinstalled twice. Should I uninstall everything including the registry files.? However, I'm a retired forensic accountant, and I know little if anything about computers. Appreciate your imput. Title: Re: System 32 Configuration? Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2007 November 01, 03:59:53 Warning - whatever you do don't press R for Repair at this stage - it will do a complete Restore!
Title: Re: System 32 Configuration? Post by: summerbliz on 2007 November 01, 04:07:16 OK! Must remember not to press R. Thankyou.
Title: Re: System 32 Configuration? Post by: ZephyrZodiac on 2007 November 01, 04:29:06 There is a way of doing a repair, but this is a borked piece of coding here, and the genuine repair option is further on in the choices, but I can't remember exactly how you get to it.
