Title: Laggy New Downtown
Post by: leiela on 2007 October 21, 11:38:25
Ive recently made a new downtown area, using SimCity 4....  however im finding it very laggy i know its probabally something ive done wrong but before i just delete it and try again i was wondering if anyone had any idea whats caused it so i can either have a go fixing it or at least not make the same mistake again.

The main symptom's of something not bieng quite right are :

1) When i use the wallpaper tool it over freezes the game for a few seconds, and im encountering other laggy issues using other ingame tools.

2) postioning lots in the neigbourhood screen is abit off.. i can place them fine but "some of them" it wont let me move afterwards with the move lot tool, although it will let me bulldoze them fine.

3) When i pull up my cheat box it has the following error message.

.\source\tsaudioAmbienceSceneCache.cpp(180)
Error TSAudio : cTSAudioAmbienceSceneCache :: AddNode
FindPartitionContainingPostion failed

A node whose position was outside of the coverage area was used or perhaps the partitions are not set up, or corrupted.

Any ideas?? whats causing it??

Have you tried forcing an error on a lot to generate a log that you could upload?

What EPs have you got?  Might be relevant...

Since Seasons & patch I've had various problems on hood screens and in lots - I still haven't worked out if it's my PC, my hoods, camera settings, the Seasons patch, or some combination thereof.

Yes, I know what you mean - I've had neighbours' trees showing up on my lots, sometimes just where I want to build and obscuring the view, and the only answer is to turn off the neighbouring houses or exit the lot, go into the offending lot and remove or replant the darn tree!

That 'wandering tree' problem was fixed in the second (most recent) Seasons patch, afaik. I don't think I've ever seen one again after applying it.

Well, I have the EALink version, and it's all patched, but I still get the problem!
