Invisible hot tub

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

In my extreme-legacy lot I have an invisible hot tub. I didn't buy it, so I think it may be a gift for a dream date or something like that. I don't know how long it has been on the lot. One evening, a sim came home from work and I saw the hot tub in his queue. He went to an empty place, turn and change in his swimsuit, and hop in an invisible, non-clickable hot tub. No water, but the sounds are there. My other sims could join him (by clicking on the sim). Forcing an error on the sim and choosing to reset only reset the sim, not the invisible hot tub.
It annoys me because it is in a wrong place, I really like to get rid of it....
From the neighbourhood view you can see the hot tub....
I have screenshots but I don't know what to do with them to show here....

Upload your screenshots to an online album (I use photobucket-it's free), and a url will be assigned to each one. Copy the url, then click on the icon directly below the italicize icon here and paste the url into it it. Actually, photobucket already adds in the [img] tags, so you may not even need to click the icon.

I think sometimes when sims leave a lot items get left behind.  I've one house in Strangetown that always shows a swing, but if you enter the house, it isn't there.

Is it unclickable?  Can you put anything in that position, or not?  (A good thing your sim isn't 100% outgoing, he would certainly get noticed!

Solution: buyable fire.

Do a search for it on MTS2, it shows up in a collection of other "weird" stuff. Put up walls around the hot tub, then put buyable fire on every square the hot tub touches. No more hot tub.

That certainly seems the best solution!  However, I'd be inclined to have fun with it first!

I can't place something where the hot tub is, and whoohoo in it looks very weird / you can see the sims and they can fold in some weird position (I'm not sure fold is the right word... I mean "se plier" if someone knows some french....)
I will try the buyable fire and let you know. Thanks a lot. Pioupiou.

se plier - I think is equivalent to "bend over".

Yeah. Checking my trusty French/English dictionary, "se plier" shares most of the meanings of "to bend," the literal and the metaphorical. (To bend to one's will and so on.) It also is synonymous to fold as in "to fold clothes" and also "to pack baggage."

Heh. I know just enough French to abuse myself.

Actually, there is a difference between "se plier" and "plier" - the first is reflexive, and therefore means that the object or person bends or folds themselves, the second is the straightforward meaning, as in to fold clothes.  (I did my degree in French, albeit a long time ago,but I still remember some things! Wink)

Just want to say the invisible hot tub screenshot above rivals the one from the New holder for the fingerprint scanner thread in hilarity. It's so funny, heehee Cheesy.

Well, if I was any good at uploading pics (which I'm not) I'd upload my pic of cheerleader Audrey after being changed to a toddler and crawling onto the lot!

Trouble is, every site seems to have a different method!  And Heather spoils us at simFreaks - there's a very simple way of uploading pics direct from your PC.  (Even that took me a while to figure out!)

The buyable fire did not work. The invisible hot tub seems to be fireproof...

Maybe it's time for the removal van and a new start in a brand new house!

Hmm, you can't click on the damned thing eh? Can you grab it with moveobjects on or hold shift down and click on it with boolprop testingcheatsenabled true? Other than that, I'd say maybe move the sim out (use Inge's furniture stay shrub to keep the stuff), move the house into the bin, replace it and then move the sim back in.

Probably, but I'm thinking maybe moving the house into the bin and then placing it again might reset it and make it appear? Worth a try and easier than having to refurnish the house.  Undecided

So did you ever figure out what was causing this problem?  Because I'm having a similar problem in the dorms right now.  This happened to me once before in the dorms too.

In the dorms, you know how things in dormie rooms become invisible?  Usually they become visible when you enter the room, when you go into build mode, or if the dormie moves out.  However, now in two separate dorms I've had a dormie room's objects become invisible all the time, no matter whether the dormie leaves, a player enters, or if you go into build mode.  And... just like your hot tub problem, I can't select the objects to delete them and start afresh.

One time it happened was right after I got uni (so, without nightlife) and one time just now, w/ nightlife.
