What is the Correct Way to Use gpsign?

I've tried a bunch of different setups and can't seem to figure out the correct way to use the signs so that the macro>farmer does what I expect. Can someone tell me how to place these correctly?

What are the problems you have ? I'm using it on some of my lots : stick it in a corner, choose what to grow, and that's it. The business...be farmer sims will replant the right plants after harvest.
I think it is room specific, but I never used it in more than one spot...

If you have different kinds of crop you need to clearly saparate the patches with walls or fences.  Aside from that, just stick it in the "room", set crop and then click on it to plant, or just use macrotastic.

I was using different patches of dirt, but not fences. I've had problems in the past with Sims not being able to get into areas to water if certain edgings or fences were used and since I couldn't remember which ones were ok to use, I just quit using them.

Thanks for the tips. I was trying for different crops and getting all cucumbers.

I use the room dividers in glasshouses to make separate areas.
