Okay so I have had no problems like this one, and this is a doooosy..  I download the new Seasons patch and have had nothing but problems since. I went on the BBS and they told me to get rid of the patch to uninstall my last EP (Seasons) and then reinstall it. So I did.. Well I get about 61% done and I get this message: A problem has occured when trying to transfer the file 'E\TSBIN\Sims2 EP5.exe.' from the media So I tryed to manually install it like the forum said.. I get pretty much the same message: 'C\Game Disk\Disk 1\TSBIN\Sims2 EP5.exe. from the media. I am really confused what happened. I have never had this happen before.. Can anyone help me out on what to do.. I checked my disk it has no scratches or breaks in it.. I even tried to uninstall the game and all ep's and sp's and all install fine except seasons... Thanks everyone...  |

Usually this happens not because you have to manually install, but because you need to manually uninstall. Follow these steps I swear, I don't know why they bother putting the uninstaller on the CD, it works so seldomly.  Edited because I forgot a backslash. |

Okay thank you. I am going to have to have my husband do this, I have NO idea how to work computers when it comes to technical stuff.. Usually I go into Control Panel/Add Remove Programs/ then find my games and uninstall from there... I take it thats not how you do it?? I've done it this way many times and have never had this problem... I just wanted to add.. When I go into my C drive/Program Files/EA Games/ The Sims 2 Seasons... The only file in there is the TSBin.. The one that I am having an issue with... All the other files have everything in them... Does that mean anything? |

Yeah, I'd delete that file first.  And I usually start with the game uninstaller, not even add/remove programs, but I always check program files and then my registry to make sure that everything actually got uninstalled. Over half the time with Sims games, the answer is no. |

Is there another way besides this? When I go to do this it will not let me erase my sim 2 folder??
Can't I just change the name of the file or something..

Thank you soooooo much katenigma... My husband came home and was able to fix this like in 5 minutes... Now just to put ALL my downloads back in |

 It's really an easy thing to do, faster than waiting on the uninstaller, since it's just a matter of deleting files, but you have to be brave enough to head into your registry. I used to make my husband do it too, and I'd get all nervous about the thought, but now I've gotten more confident about it, despite their dire warnings. If you go deleting files willy-nilly in your registry, then yes, you can mess yourself up (but even then, worse case, you'll have to reinstall Windows) but even if you deleted the wrong GAME file, all you'd mess up is your game, and that was already messed up, or you wouldn't be in the registry to begin with. LOL Now I just sigh at myself for not doing it manually to begin with, and saving myself time when it screws up.

He didn't even go into the registry area.. All he did was delete my EA folder out of MY Documents, and then delete the EA folder out of MY Computer/Program Files... And it installed with no problems... I was even able to start redoing all my hoods last night...  |

They have a theory over there that you can install your game too many times. Once your disc has reched it's limit it won't install anymore. |

Took me a while to figure out what you were on about, Venusy.. I picked up on it right away, probably because I saw fly's previous posting which was done in squashed-tomato-caterpillar green or some similar sickly color. Thankfully changed now. |
