Point me to teen lifetime adjustment hack?
« on: 2007 May 24, 20:10:55 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Someone mentioned shortening teens from 15 days to 7 days.  I'd like that.  I'm already using TwoJeff's hack to shift lifespan from elder to adult, so if this requires Inge's agecons (mentioned in Jeff's RTFM), those two apparently conflict.

Are you sure it was a hack? They could've just 'shortened' the teen lifespan by sending them to college early.

I think the person in question was talking about sending teens to college early or aging then using some form of mod.
I remember the post, but not who said it, or in what thread.

That crossed my mind, but I was hoping for a hack.  I rather like playing with a net, and it would be easy to miss that a particular teen was getting too old if I didn't check age every day.  Currently I generally send 'em on the 3-day warning.  I suppose I could send them on the first college notice, which I think is on day 9.

I've talked about it, so it may be me you were recalling. I just use boolProp to "set to birthday" when they show 8 days to go...or thereabouts.

TwoJeff's age duration hack has custom durations for adult and elder, you could always change teen duration.

I'm not clear on how I would use TwoJeff's hack that way.

I tried that actually. All I did was change 15 to 12. However this caused my game to crash after loading any lot. So either I did something totally wrong, or this hack just can't be messed with.

Go to TwoJeff's age duration hack thread and ask him?

I know that mentioning the InSIMenator is verboten, but it does allow you to choose when to have sims "grow up"...

I'm sure that's true, but not really needed.  If you're going to make the Teens age prematurely manually, you can send them to college on day 1, as several people have mentioned.  If you don't want the extra 2 want slots - which is I can't really imagine, myself - you can have them drop out immediately and they'll be adults.

I was just hoping for something where the game would enforce the teen stage duration.  Doing it myself isn't a huge hardship, but I was under the mistaken impression there was a way to get the game to enforce it.

I use a personal version of Inge's agecons.
Lines 6 and 7 are the values for the teen stage. I think it's important to make them the same value.
