Empty dialog boxes

I recently did a reinstall, and patched Seasons.  The first time the rep from the Garden Club came over, a dialog box with her face appeared, but the box was empty.  All other pop-up boxes, such as "Ginger has gained 1 skill point from reading" and "the sprog has school in 1 hour" appear correctly, though.

I was so freaked out I exited without saving. *headdesk*  I should have greeted her and seen what happened...

I'm tempted to just re-install again and see if that helps.  The only garden hack I have is "perfect plants" (not "perfect gardens") and there were no flowers on the lot, just 4 baby tomatoes and a pine tree.

well, the easy way to test if it's perfect plants doing the missing dialogue thing is to take it out.


Since I am also having the same problem & also have perfect plants, that is what I am doing.

I honestly thought it was the patch fucking things up, but this might be it.

Well it's not perfect plants fucking up the dialogue boxes, since I just had the problem in a new hood without perfect plants installed. My money is on the patch breaking the garden club dialoge boxes.

I have the same problem, no perfect plants. Thought it was some mod conflict, haven't really checked for it.

Custom plants, trees, and bushes cause problems with the Garden Club in various forms.  Sometimes recolors of standard Maxis plants that haven't been updated for Seasons cause problems too.  And I had crashes with objects like Inge's days-left or mortgage bushes on a lot when the GC comes by.  I'd look in those areas for the cause of the problem first.

Mumble... that dialog string is in STR# instance 0x12D group 0x7F171875, the same which contains XXX is no longer a family friend etc.
Maybe an outdated hack containing that same resource (something about relationship decay or adoption service) would cause that.

(in objects.package of Season unpatched is in #0x0008, if it may help).

Looks like it's twojeffs' Welcome Wagon Dialog hack. It is missing the last (8th) line.
Going to test it now.

The version in the all hacks directory is the updated verison. I never linked to it in the thread though. Fixing that now. The DC version is also outdated. I'll fix that too.

I don't know if you updated this recently, but the director's cut version of welcome wagon was last updated in June last year.

Ah, I wonder if that's why I keep getting, 'would you like a welcome wagon' and I click yes or no and nothing happens. June eh? I'll download from the thread or from Jeffistani and see if it makes a difference.
