Don't install Seasons patch. It turned my game into black holes
« on: 2007 April 03, 13:30:52 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I patched with the Seasons and the pets patches yesterday. It all went well, but then my neighborhood turned into black holes where the houses and trees are. You can't even see which houses have sims in. I updated my ATI display driver, but it is still the same. Once I entered a house, the neighborhood houses, trees, decos showed up as usual. Also, I can not delete trees in the neighborhood screen.

I took all downloads out, still the same, so the problem is not there. I did change the camera folder to see the whole neighborhood. It should not be the problem, should it? I don't have the original files, unfortunately.

You shouldn't upload images. It's regarded as an infringement. Upload it to a pic hosting resource such as flickr. Oh and use a image program (such as MS Paint) to save the picture in jpeg format. .bmp bitmaps are too large for web purposes

If you want to display an image go to tiny pic http://tinypic.com/ (or photobucket) and upload your picture, then post the IMG code in your post.

Best to resize and change the file to a jpeg first like Mirelly said.

Do you have more than one hood?  And is the black hole thing happening in just the one hood?

I generated another hood, again, I couldn't delete trees and stuff. I placed one house, it looked fine, but I didn't play more. I placed an older backup of my hood in to see, and it was all black holes.

I've found a thread over at N99 about the same sort of problem, it's here http://p218.ezboard.com/fstarlightsimsfrm51.showMessage?topicID=14671.topic but you can only access it if you're registered.  A few people have reported that the seasons patch has borked one but not all of their hoods in the neighbourhood view.  The only way people over there have managed to sort it is to uninstall and reinstall seasons and then not install the patch.  I don't know whether they've tried deleting groups.cache, that might help, I would try that first before any installing.

Thank you very much, mildly. That's the same problem. Thank god I don't have the not-loading problem. Now I'm playing a second house, the house is flashing flat too, just like the hood. Really annoying, and the game slows down tremendously as well when it happens. I guess I will uninstall the Seasons now.

Damn patches, they seem to break more than they fix.  I've given up on them now.  Glad yours is back to normal Smiley

Man, since I found this place, I don't even bother with the patches. I just get the hacks from here that fix most of what's broken [if I notice that stuff that's broken to begin with]. MATY is more awesome than maxis. Cheesy

I doubt thats a seasons patch glitch.
Ive read about that heaps, there were a few threads in "oops you broke it" about it also someone at mts2 a LONG time ago asked about it.

Edit: found one thread thats similar: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=7094.0
