THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Every now and then, I come across a piece of custom content that makes me say, "You know, I'm positive I've seen this exact same thing at least three times before."  Lately it seems to be happening with increasing frequency (especially since the slew of new FA's started appearing at TSR,) and frankly it's starting to annoy me.  So I'm going to deal with my irritation in the most mature and productive way I can think of: inviting you all to make fun of these lame-o originality-challenged artists with me!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find as many identical or gee-whiz-that's-awfully-close items as you can and post pics here.  The rules are as follows:

1.  It can be any kind of "unique" custom content you like--BodyShop items, furniture, houses, whatever.

2.  Submissions should preferably come from independent sites, not the Exchange.

3.  Bonus points for the following: Complete identical mesh sets; pay site items that have a twin available elsewhere for free (but the free one must predate the pay item;) and double bonus points for two virtually identical items by different artists from the same site.

4.  Simple Maxis recolors and items obviously stolen and posted under false pretenses don't count, but similar items clearly made from the same photo do.  Also, no celebrity Sims--we already know there's fifty billion Sim versions of every movie star who ever walked the Earth.  Likewise, spare us the basic box houses.

5.  One clear screen shot and a link back to the site of origin must be provided with each item submitted (post to this thread.)

6.  The winner will be whoever finds the most stuff that looks exactly alike, and will be selected completely subjectively by a panel of biased judges (or by a poll if I feel like it.)  They will receive the cheese of their choice, a hearty "Thanks for playing!" and the accolades due to one who clearly has far, far too much free time to devote to searching for this useless crap.  If there's sufficient participation, I may be motivated to create some actual prizes.

7.  Post your entry by midnight on February 28th, 2007.  Yes, that's only a couple of weeks.  What can I say, I hate waiting.

Now go forth, fearless warriors, and find me the stuff!

I wonder, do hacks count? I'm certain that I've seen the same mods made like 12 times already.

Sure, why the hell not?  (But Squinge's only count for half, since he appears to be on a quest to duplicate every single hack ever made by any other modder anywhere.)

Weather #1: http://thesims2.ea.com/about/ep5_videos_download.php?movieID=1&version=hi

Carrigon has a weather maker at www.sims2workshop.com if I remember correctly, it's down at the moment, though.

Jealousy hack: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=185019 . I do believe those features are in the romance mod, and if not, then you can do the same thing with ACR, only better. Tongue

Death hacks: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=135930 , http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=202641 , http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=93421 , and http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=5 , and I bet Carrigon has a mod that allows you to kill Sims as well.

Here we have two alien pregnancy mods as well: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=54848 , http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=184470 .

I'm sure this just barely scratches the surface.
