Strangetown and Veronaville DNA Fixes

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

These are the altered Neighborhood files for Strangetown and Veronaville.  I only had the base game installed so there is no EP interference.

Only use on an unplayed neighborhood.  If you are a frequent neighborhood-restarter you can place the file in Programs/EAGames/TS2/TSData/Res/UserData/Neighborhoods/N00#.  # is replaced by 2 for Strangetown and 3 for Veronaville.  Dont forget to place each time you do a total uninstall/reinstall though.

You should also place this file in the corresponding Neighborhood folder to overwrite game generated Neighborhood file at least the first time. The location is MyDocuments/EaGames/TS2/Neighborhoods/N00#.

You only need one file for each Neighborhood, heterozygous or homozygous

To create the Homozygous files all I did was copy and paste.

example: Brad has Dark Blue eyes, Blonde Hair and tan skin.

To do a Heterozygous one I looked at everyones dna, so that sims would have dna that reflects their parentage.

Example: Bob has Dark Blue eyes, Black Hair and medium skin.  Betty had grey eyes, blonde hair and tan skin.  Their daughter Brandi has Dark Blue Eyes, Blonde hair and tan skin.

Stupid question here but I must ask.

I loaded one lot in Veronaville and one in Strangetown to check for something but I did not play them.  I did save the lots though after I check them, does this count as a played neighborhood?

I guess it is harder to answer than I thought.

EDIT:  I did not add any sections to those hoods, I just loaded one lot.

I kinda tested that scenario once. What I did was place all of the sims from the simbin onto lots then I replaced the file and went back in and they were in the simbin again.  So it looks like just progress you make in that neighborhood is lost, but Im also not sure whatelse goes on besides lost progress.  I would hope that as long as you didnt add/or  any new characters(also through birth) that you would be fine bc you would probably have lost those characters.

I hope this answered you question.

Thanks Dea.

Other than checking if the wants/fears were showing properly, I did not do anything in those hoods.  In each hood the lot were played for like 5 min. sim time.

I did not bother to place the sims that were in the bin on lots either so it sounds like it should be pretty safe. Smiley

Thanks for taking the time to do that, very appriciated for someone that is not comfortable playing with the dna in SimPe.

Oooh! Thank you for all your painstainkingly detailed work!

I've been weary about playing all the other neighborhoods... But now, I just might!  I might even restart my pseudo legacy challenge.

Also, many thanks to baratron for all her hard work as well, and anyone else who helped with these projects.

I would really like to use these files since my game had to be reinstalled since seasons would no longer run for me.  But every time I click the links it takes me to a webmaster site asking me to make my own.  Very confused.

Did you try Morphar's links, too? They all work for me. For the ones in the original post you just click on free and then on a download button.

I didnt really want to start a new topic as it was a quick question, and the topic is only on 1 page.

Does this DNA fix, facial structure to sims like Nervous and the ugly sims of strangetown?  If not them, will it effect their children?

No.  The DNA fix is only to add missing lines to their DNA (i.e. hair colour, eye colour, skin tone - mostly it's the skin tone lines that are missing).  It has nothing to do with their facial structure or that of their offspring.

If you want to fix Nervous' appearance use the plastic surgery machine from Uni.  This will be a superficial change, not a genetic change.  However, once you've changed his face with plastic surgery, you can make the new face genetic by following the steps in this tutorial at MTS2.
