Two moons, stars and werewolves

Is there a connection between the Sim moons and werewolves? I guess not, but here's hoping....
What's the deal with those moons? A board friend is saying you can see them waxing and waning if you use that tab key to look up and keep checking on different nights. I'm not much on observation when you can ask the experts how it is supposed to work especailly as that tab key is evil. So who is our expert in Sim Astronomy?
If you haven't seen the 2 moons, rimfire put up a pic recently

I heard a long time ago (probably at the Sims 2 BBS
) that if you see the 2 moons on your lot, then the chances of having twins are more likely.
Dunno if it is true though.

Is anything you hear on the BBS ever true?
I only saw one moon... I also saw a shooting star, but I wasn't quick enough to get a screen capture of it.

I knew about the moons and the shooting stars, and no, there is no connection between sim moons and werewolves. Don't they transform every night?

I don't have Pets, but I'm told - yes, they do transform every night. That doesn't rule out some more obscure connection though. for example, is the leader of the pack more likely to visit on the night of a full moon? I guess not, but Maxis must have thought about making some connection when they designed werewolves, surely it's an obvious link to make somehow. My bet is the LOP visit is the usual sadorandom chance - he won't come back until you don't want him too!

The wolves definitely do show up more often on lots with many trees, like the guide says.
When I was working on my first werewolf I had a lot with trees on every bare patch of dirt, and I had wolf visits several times a night, every night. After I got my werewolf sim, I deleted most of the trees, and now I only get a rare wolf visit; just enough to mildly bother the children.

Wolves will also so up more often if there's a baby or toddler on the lot. Why? Who knows what lurks in the minds of EA programmers...

Dogdog told me children are messy and werewolves like mess. Rubbish and other mess is supposed to attract them as well.

I suspect it's more of a Little Red Riding Hood thing. Plus, children are probably tastier.

Yea, well it would make sense if the wolves could snatch the kid or something, but all they do it come around and hang outside the house. If you have twins, you'll get two wolves at the same time, and then they'll play or fight outside the house.

The "two moons" thing is basically just a texturing artifact. It's always there and has no significance.

Brynn: I hadn't seen the video before, but it was spectacularly beautiful!!!! Awesome job!!!
I knew there were 2 moons, but I've never seen them in my game, and I have a top of the line graphics card.
Shooting stars, clouds, yes, but no moons at all.

Wow, it just wouldn't occur to me to make a video like that with my sims game (or any video at all, for that matter). Very well done! I too had no clue about the moons. Like me, my sims tend not to go outdoors much.

The "two moons" thing is basically just a texturing artifact. It's always there and has no significance.
You only see two moons occasionally - I can believe no significance, but they're not always in the sky neither are the shooting stars and comets. We thought there ought to be a regular and predicatable pattern for the moons at least even if the other events are random. My fellow observers aren't spotting one though. So is the Sim sky at night actually a completely sadorandom choice?
I guess, since it's of no significance, it's not worth investigating!

Hey, Brynne, isn't that the one that got banned or pulled or something from YouTube? (I noticed it came up in Google video.)

Yeah, it got rejected twice by YouTube for "inappropriate content" (sim nipples! kissing!), so I went with Google Video.
