Autonomous pet purchases

What was Maxis/EA thinking?  Were they thinking?

When I entered Emma Avio's lot last night (she lives with two standard poodles; the female poodle is pregnant) a box popped up claiming that a member of the household had purchased a pet and did I want to introduce it to the family.

Hadn't seen that before so I said yes and low and behold, a picture of a scruffy looking dog had been added to the Avio family.

Now, if the critter had a job paying $10,000 a day, worked seven days a week, and was completely trained, I might have considered keeping it.  But of course no such information is provided so I exited without saving and checked the "no" box on reentry.

A flaming bag of watery puppy poo to whoever came up with that idea.
