Stripping animations

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Okay, I've asked elsewhere, but really this is the place I should have asked first. Is there any way to strip animations from a custom hair mesh? I recently downloaded a mesh that I really like, but in my game the animated parts flap around nonstop. I'd like to keep the style, but only if I can somehow get rid of the animation.

Anyone know if it's possible and how to go about doing something like that?

I think you should ask the Creator of the hair.

Darn. This thread turned out to be a lot less interesting than it seemed from the title...

Yesss...i was thinking of something else too.
By the way, are you speaking of Peggy or Sunair's hairs? If you need help translating your request to their language, I could help.
Let me know.

No, its one of Minanna's hairs on MTS2. I think she is Korean. Anyway, I've read through her thread on MTS2, and no one else has reported it acting odd in their game. I'd rather just modify the mesh for my own use than pester her, if possible. Also, it is just a general bit of information that may come in handy, since I know nothing about animations.

Is it her layered mesh? I haven't used that one in game yet. It didn't seem that bad from the CAS though.

I have one Peggy hair that I adore and use on my self sim, but the ends go all wonky and streaky during certain animations.  I would love to edit it if anyone figures out if and how that can be done.

Well, BeosBoxBoy posted this at Insim in reply to my question:

Quote from: BeosBoxBoy

yes it is easy enough to remove the animation - but sort of tedious if the mesh has undergone the SMD export-import in SimPE (the usual quick fix)

Export as SMD - open SMD with MilkShape - it will gag a bit but load and strip it down to one bone assignment - select all - use the Unimesh bone tool to assign everything to 100% head - select the seam line accross the nape of the neck and behind the ears and asign them 50% neck 50% head - use the Unimesh exporter to generate a simpe file - replace the mesh by right-clicking the GMDC in the list window at the top right of SimPE and selecting the simpe file you just created.

Hope that explains it - it is easy - just a bugger

I havent tried it out yet, but hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. He says it's easy, but we'll see Tongue

Jelenedra, it is the layered mesh. It looks great in Bodyshop, but in my game the animations flap around like crazy.

Hmm, I'll have to check it out, see if it bugs me. If it does and you fix it, I might bug you for a copy of the animated-less mesh.

Although you might try asking her, the original version of the hair had no animations. Maybe she kept a copy of it.

I know! Way misleading, right? Although, I have seen stripping sims. I like to peek at it on MTS2, but I wouldn't download it. It would be too gritty for me, I think.
