Getting errors upon loading neighborhood

Somehow my neighborhood got hosed. I was in a lot in build mode changing some things around one night and when I saved and exited the game crashed. Ever since then whenever I load this neighborhood or any subneighborhood (uni, downtown, shopping district) the game crashes before the neighborhood loads.

It does this even when I take all downloads out and just run the straight TS2 game. None of the other neighborhoods do this, they all work fine. It's just this one, neighborhood 4 (a custome neigbhorhood) that does this and unfortunately it is my main one.

I can't seem to figure out the problem but I will post a log here in case anyone else knows. Note that this log is from load the game with NO downloads or custom content but it also will do the same crash with all the CC.

Corrupted lot and/or character file I would guess. Restore backup of hood or delete hood. I think those are your only options.

Bleh, was afraid of that. 

Does the game load all the lots even if you are in a another sub-neighborhood? I tried removing the file for the lot I was in when the problem first started but that didn't help. This lot was in the main neighborhood but even if I go straight to downtown or uni from the loading screen it still crashes.

If your game shits itself during a save operation, it probably did not completely write the file, resulting in a corrupted neighborhood file. If you have a backup, you might consider attempting to duct tape the two files together to form a functional one that isn't too outdated. The lot files, except the damaged one, are probably salvageable, so you can likely reverse-port any that existed in your backup. If you don't have a backup at all, you're SOL. Sucks to be you.

I do have a backup of a about a week, but several sims grew up, got makeovers, surgery etc in that time. A few died too. I guess since I have the character files in the corrupt neighborhood. I can always go with the backup, age them up and then apply the new character data like facial structure hair makeup etc. Sheesh what a pain.

There is, at least for one backup- it comes with Windows. Called Briefcase. Drag the files into Briefcase once, then after every play, hit go in and hit the Update button.

There are also lots of programs out there for backing up files, exactly as you want. People use them for backing up their personal servers all the time.

If you dig around on Microsoft's Windows website, they have a tool called 'SyncToy' -- it's designed primarily to keep directories on two different machines synchronized (I use it to keep the Downloads folder on my main system and my laptop synced), but it'll also synchronize two different directories on the same machine.  The good part is that it'll only copy over files that are new or have changed, so it's a lot faster than a complete copy of the directory.

And of course, among its many other talents, SimPE has a built-in neighborhood backup utility.  It does an entire backup, though, not a 'new or changed' backup like SyncToy.
