THANKS THIS IS GREAT

How do I reduce that awful lag time everytime a customer enters the lot?  Actually it happens when anyone enters a lot both home and community.  Is there anything I can do to make sims enter the lot smoothly?

I have University
Nightlife
OFB

Ati Radeon X1300 256 mb

1gb ram

thank you so much for reading

Use fewer objects all around the lot. See if you can reduce the polygon count. If you can, get more RAM and upgrade your system.

Nope. There always seem to be a hiccup the first time a sim enters a lot for a given load of the game. This hiccup is somewhat lessened as long as you stick to the CC < RAM/2 rule.

Pescado's rule of thumb is: check how much RAM you have, then make sure your Downloads folder is half that amount. If it's more than half, the game will begin to stutter as it runs out of available RAM.

Just out of curiosity, what processor do you have bratz? The game depends heavily on processor power and RAM.

I think my d/ls folder is more than 6 times the amt of my RAM. Lol. It doesn't stutter that much though, except when I have a large party w/ 15+ guests. Then it stutters.

I have relatively smooth teleporting on small lots (I hardly notice the lag, maybe about half a second). On large lots, the lag is definitely more noticeable so I have no idea what El Prez is talkin' about.  Tongue

Eh, I have 2 GB RAM and just the teeniest bit over 1 GB of downloads split between my Downloads and Saved Sims folders, and even with a good processor and video card, I still get lag when teleporting, and I get more lag the larger the lot and more people on it.  Roll Eyes I think the problem is crappy programming more than the amount of downloads.

The only real solution is to try to avoid anything over a 4x4 lot, more than 4-6 Sims per household, and the disco lights and blinky floortiles and boxes from NL.  Otherwise, learn to love your lag! LOL

The Sempron might be the culprit then...as much as I like AMDs, their Sempron series is a total waste. You''ll just have to bite the bullet and, to quote katenigma: "learn to love your lag"!
