All lots unplayable, neighbourhood terrain gone?

All my lots have a clear blue background instead of the normal terrain, and are as a result unplayable (see picture).
I can't even move up or down floors: the lot is completely useless except for the rendered floor.



This happens even with all custom content out of the game (renamed My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2). Also happens in all neighbourhoods.

I have updated display drivers, downgraded, etc.. No change.

Any clues what can be going on here?

For one thing, that's cyan not blue.

Solved by a complete reinstall.
First time I had to reinstall to fix a 'hood.

I've had that effect after messing about trying to make stages do strange tricks.
