THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Has anyone seen some good restaurants? I don't care whether they're designed for being unowned or owned, whether they have other kinds of businesses on the lot, I just want a good one. All of mine are pretty unawesome.

What's your definition of a "good" restaurant? The size? The location? The number of tables and chairs?

Mostly just an interesting or impressive looking, or like a real restaurant. Mine are all boxes. I really need to work on my building skills.  Embarrassed

Boxes are highly underrated IMHO. Just make your build a big rectangle and put the tables in the front half. Then put everything else in the back half. Add some touches here and there (good restaurant design is really in the details), and you're done.

That they are. I've gone through quite a few nice looking but completely unplayable houses, and come to the conclusion that simple is not always a bad thing.

If I want nice and playable, I usually go to Laverwinkle. They have great building talents there. My favorite architects, all in one place.

Ok, I'll check them out. Thanks.

And as for underrated boxes, there is something called too much of a good thing. Most of my buildings are boxes, and I'm a firm believer in variety being the spice of life.  Smiley

Too much spice can ruin your soup too.  Cheesy

There are only so many usable ways to shape a building. The L, the U and the box. That's basically everything.

How about a pentagon or octagon shaped restaurant? Or a trapezoid?

Mine usually end up as more of an inverted T.

The angles required to generate a pentagon are not available in TS2. Octagons are possible, but don't provide many advantages. Trapezoidal structures suffer from space wastage, as acute corners in buildings tend to generate wasted space.
