New version of Paladin's hack detector
« on: 2006 July 13, 18:14:56 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Paladin posted a new version of his hack detector today:

"Version 2.0.0 update 7/13/2006: The program will now check for conflicts in BCON, TTAB and TTAs files in addition to BHAV files. The new version is also much faster if you have a large number of package files in your downloads folder."

I was looking at that site... and I was trying to find a way to contact that person in hopes to suggest other improvements for heir hack tool. In particular, it would be really great if it found All hacks that mod the same BHAV and list them together instead of showing a one to one comparison. Dizzy's d2check tool does this, and it makes it much easier to keep track of conflicts. The only limitation that I know of with d2check is that it doesn't recursively check sub/directories. It only runs a check on hacks in the same directory.

If anyone can figure out a way to contact this Paladin person, that'd be great. I didn't see any contact email or anything of the sort, at least superficially, on the website.

Paladin also has a Fire Brigade hack. Seems like a cool idea, especially if you use the Incendiary bomb hack. I was thinkin about tryin it out, but I also wanted to ask the creator if it will only spawn NPC firefighters when necessary. It probably wouldn't be out of control like the endless barista spawning problem from before, but I just wanted to make sure that it will check for existing firefighters before spawning them.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he hangs out here (though not as 'paladin'), but for the life of me I can't remember his user id.

I tried to d/l it and was told it was "blocked". Huh I have the previous version.

ETA: Nevermind. I turned off ZoneAlarm and all was well.
